Owl are you? october prize 2021

Cody walked into Magical Menagerie, because his parents thought he’d be good at Hogwarts if he was to have a pet. Now, it was awesome how many pets there were at this giant magic pet shop with a snake, two types of lizards, two different colored pygmy puffs, three types of rats, multiple… cats. And some really amusing birds, or rather, owls!

The young part goblin would struggle to see over the counters if there were any pets laying around, or if the owner and his wife were to talk to him, they’d have to come around the counter to talk to Cody as he really couldn’t see them.

He slowly stalked around the room, carefully trying to decide on what to buy. He started off at the spiders, as they interested him, and he looked into their eight eyes and hissed like a snake. Menacing was what the boy so desired to be. But the spiders just crawled up to him on their eight legs. Cody wasn’t scared of them, but he felt slightly threatened by that cursed spider. He moved over to the other spider, which seemed to be dark brown-black. He reached in, touched it’s back gently, and it seemed to have buckled and bent back, as if attacking, or in a defensive mode. With that, Cody quickly withdrew his long fingers immediately.

Next over was the lizards. A bearded dragon, well, the baby, is rather immersing. But it was too spiky, and Cody felt that his fingers were what get punctured more than his foot, leg, and skin. Unfortunately, Cody had a hate when something sharp touched his fingers, even if it was like a rusty scythe. Yet another lizard was there, but this one had bigger spikes than the bearded dragon. It was the Girdled Lizard. Cody glared at it, then moved on to the next set of creatures. The pygmy puff.

Pink and purple didn’t interest him, and it rather bored him automatically, so he turned, walked off and tried to avoid the pygmy puffs.

Rats were one of his favorite creatures due to muggle rumors that they started the bubonic plague and bit people. Well, this may have been wrong in the Wizarding World if Cody had to theorize a possibility to prove a rat’s innocence.

Did they care? No. So Cody just saw the cats prowling near the rats. He began to sneeze. Ai, it was true. He was allergic to cats. So he would never buy one.

The hooting of owls made Cody interested. A big owl got Cody’s attention. It was the Moreover Owl. Cody walked up to it, his face illuminated with entertainment. He soothly said the names that came to his head for the Owl. “Darksea Wolfspider Nevermore Oak Stevenson.” Cody grinned.

“Dad. I like this owl. I want it! It looks so cute, so big, and the name I gave him, which is Darksea Wolfspider Nevermore Oak Stevenson, seems to fit him! He’s named after one of my favorite drawing. I think he’s cute! What about you?”

“I- I don’t know son. It- it’s a little out of the price range I had budgeted for us today.” The dad said calmly to Cody.

“But but, he’s awesome! He can fly! He is ginormous! I think he’d be something I take care of very well!” Cody attempted to argue back.

The dad sighed, rubbing the area between his nose and his temple. “I guess I can overlook Squid, your pet turtle when we were in America. Ok. Let’s buy it. BUT DO NOT TELL YOUR MOTHER HOW MUCH IT WAS!” The dad said, making it perfectly clear to Cody.



The dad walked up to the counter, started a dialog with the store owners, paid them the galleons needed, and smiled at Cody, his eyes worrying a little about how the mother would react if Cody revealed how much it was.
