Salutations, Studies, and Small Talk

It was a beautiful afternoon. Cool, but beautiful. A day like this simply couldn't be passed on. Besides, dorm rooms were way too noisy.
Ari organized his textbooks on the desk next to his bed, straightening parchment and stray quills. Disarray was a peeve of his. Even if he was about to leave again, it had to look nice. That way, he'd know if someone messed with it. Tamper-evident setup proved very good in catching thieves and cheaters.
Ari grabbed some spare parchment, his favorite quill, a small ink jar, and his Charms textbook. He sat down on his bed so he could fit them properly into his satchel. After straightening his materials, he donned his coat and was out the door.
The grounds were peaceful, with few students outside in the autumn chill. Ari definitely surprised himself by being outside in it. He was anemic, and didn't enjoy being cold all the time because of it.
Now where could he go to finish his homework?
The Great Lake was always a nice backdrop. It was quiet, serene, and relaxing. He decided to go there first. If there were too many people, he'd find somewhere else.
The trek to the Great Lake was quick, as Ari wanted to sit down and work as soon as possible. Thankfully, nobody was there. It was nice, but strange, since it was a popular spot for socializing students.
He dropped his bag, took a deep breath of the cold misty air, and cracked open his Charms textbook.
