Dear Valerie,
I know this is quite sudden and I know I should have asked you in person but I just can not push myself to do it. Maybe it's because I'm worried of what you will think or maybe because I didn't have much time to ask you earlier but I just can't seem to wait. Will you be so gracious and attend the fall ball with me? We can go as friends! Just to have some company at the fall ball really. But you can decline this invitation if you like. I just thought that it will be great for us to attend together. I know this letter is not so great and I apologize for it. I will await your owl and hope for the best.

Hello! Don't worry about it. Honestly, I feel like it would have been much more awkward if you were to ask me in person. I'd love to go to the ball as your date friend! I would've asked you but I don't think I'd ever have the guts to do it, so I should thank you for that. And really, don't worry about the letter, I don't really care about formality. I hope to see you there!

You don't know how relieved I am to hear or see that you have accepted my invitation! I will meet you in person to discuss things further. And to also hang out with you :p. Good thing I did owl you though, there would have been a seventy percent chance I would embarrass myself in front of you and stumbling over my words while asking you. I can't wait for the ball! I normally wouldn't be too excited for occasions like this but having company makes it much more fun!
