It had been ages since Durmstrang arrived. Alright, it had been a few hours. They arrived late morning... earlier today. But it felt like that was so long ago because he had not exercised this morning, due to the fact that he was travelling. Arjan did a couple of sit-ups and press-ups during the journey but it just did not feel like enough. He needed the wind in his hair! Besides, in these hours, no one had fallen drastically in love with him and things were getting a little boring! How was he supposed to survive two whole weeks of this?
Yes, yes, just ignore the fact that Arjan actually chose to sign up for the trip every time. For some reason - perhaps reasons that he did not even understand or want to admit, who knew - he ended up attending the trips whenever he could. He was here now though and he had to occupy his time somehow. All he knew was that there was some boring ball on the agenda, one where kids would likely just be annoying again. He should probably ask... Would Phaedra go with him again? She had gone with him last time but that was before the whole Spin the Bottle Summer Camp fiasco. Things were a little odd. He did not expect to see her attacking Falentra, for starters. Oh maybe he should ask Falentra- Phaedra would kill him. That could make things more interesting but he also preferred to not choose sides.
The Great Lake was perfect for the occasion though. Exercising naturally made you feel hot. If he got too hot, he could always just take a dunk straight into the cool water. For now, Arjan was dressed in a pair of shorts, a tank top and some trainers. He had been jogging around the area for some time now, but it was not super noticeable, other than the slightly shiny skin that glistened with sweat. His breathing was pretty normal though, as he had not been running too fast nor did he find it challenging. His cardio was pretty good, this was nothing yet.
He slowed down, coming to a pause as he looked over the lake in wonderment. For a second, he thought he saw perfection but he had just caught a glimpse of his own reflection. Made sense, really. With a smirk - at his own reflection - he stretched his arm, crossing it over his chest and pulling it closer with his other hand. Switching arms, he contemplated jumping straight into the lake. He did not really care if there was some stupid rule against it. It looked cool and refreshing, that was kind of enough.
The weather was already on the colder side, admittedly. However, Arjan had been exercising for a short time now and besides, he was hot enough to just radiant heat. Well, according to himself anyway.

Oh, Pretty Woman
The Great Lake was definitely Lydia's favourite place in Hogwarts; since her very first year, she had found it to be quite comforting, with a warm feeling that would make her feel at home everytime she was near the water. That was probably because of her growing up on the sea, and not having seen it in... well, more than a year, definitely made her miss it. Of course she had gotten quite familiar with London and Hampstead, but it was different from being back home, feeling the water on her feet...
A melancholic sigh left Lydia's lips, as she let her gaze roam the surface of the lake, Durmstrang's ship standing proudly on the water. She wondered if Alexander had come this year, maybe she might have had the chance to see him this time, it had been a while since she last did, after all. Since she first met him, the two kids had gotten quite close, and Lydia considered him a good friend, even if they mostly talked through owls; it was still nice, having a friend from another school, living in a reality completely different from hers.
Closing her eyes to enjoy the still warm sun on her face, Lydia moved her feet a little bit more into the cold water, her black socks and leather boots abandoned on the rocks near her. Some might have found that strange, to have your feet in the cold water while wearing a jacket, but Lydia had gotten used to far weirder things in this school, so she tended not to think about that too much. She also knew that people weren't that likely to point that out, since they might be distracted by her. It's not like she was a narcissist, quite the opposite, but she knew that because of what she was and how she looked, people were likely to find her pretty, no matter what. Sometimes being part-veela had its perks.
Lydia carefully leaned back onto her elbows and tilted her head towards the right, opening her eyes as she heard sounds coming from that direction. She scanned the shore of the lake and saw someone, but at first didn't concentrate on them, and she looked back at the water, only to quickly look back towards the guy, her eyes slightly widened.
Woah.
That was her first thought as she observed the guy stretch his arms; he wasn't wearing any uniform, unlike her, but instead he had some sport clothes on; he didn't seem bothered by the slightly chill air either, so maybe he was someone from Hogwarts- but no, she had never seen him around before. His face was familiar, the smirk felt confident, almost cocky; he definitely knew he was good looking... Where did she see him? As the red headed girl kept trying to figure that out, she kept staring at him as she bit her lip. Then, almost in a flash, she suddenly remembered why his face was familiar: he was the handsome Durmstrang boy from the Capture the Base game, the one she had tried to awkwardly flirt with.
Sitting up better, Lydia tried to adjust her uniform and her hair a little bit- she didn't want to look like a mess in front of this boy, he looked too good looking even with sports clothes on, and Lydia wanted to make a good impression on him. For no rational reason of course, but what else could she do? She was just a fourteen year old girl, after all. Now a good minute had passed, and Lydia was still staring at the boy; there wasn't anybody else immediately around them, the cold weather usually meant that less people hanged out around the lake. Should she say something, talk to him? Or should she wait and hope that he would talk to her? She could definitely try and start a conversation with him, and if he were to ignore her, at least there was nobody around to see her embarrass herself.
However, Lydia decided not to say anything for now; after all, staring at someone was a less embarrassing way to start a conversation, rather than talking. Clearly.

Stretching his arm, he allowed his beautiful hazel-brown eyes to gaze over the scene. The chill in the air was refreshing but it was still a little warm for him. In his sixth year of Durmstrang, he had spent far too much time chilling in Scandinavia. The October weather of Scotland was not exactly on the same level of cold but it was getting there. It was pretty nice when he was exercising.
He was starting to get accustomed to Hogwarts, though. He had visited it a few times over the years and he was learning his way around - especially from the cabins, which they seemed to be situated at a few times now, or from the Durmstrang boat. Looking around, his eyes landed on a girl staring at him. He shot her a smirk if she was still looking a second later. If she looked away, he would still observe her for a moment longer.
She looked familiar. He had definitely met her before, though it took a moment or two, to recall exactly where. It was almost like he had flirted with so many girls that they were all merging. Welp. It was fine. Grinning to himself, as he recalled where. Arjan had met her in summer camp some time ago, the one before last, at that crappy International Quidditch Tournament. (It was only deemed crappy because Durmstrang did not win).
Arjan looked away for a moment, pulled out a very small piece of paper from the pocket of his shorts before scanning his eyes over it. Reading it, he nodded to himself with a smirk and then folded it, tucking it away again before turning back to the girl. She was still sitting there, though she might not have been looking at him. Either way, he would make his way over to her with a smirk on his lips, "Hey there, beautiful. I'm good at algebra; I can replace your X and you wouldn't need to figure out Y," Arjan simply stated, running his hand over his hair as smoothly as possible to flex his muscles.
Alright, did he really understand the pickup line he was saying? No. He did not. But he had written down a few from a book that he had in his trunk and it seemed to be a good one to use. She seemed like she would get it! Either way, he went straight in for the flirt. "Good to see you again," He added, showing he recognised her. She obviously would recognise and remember him - he was not forgettable at all. If he recalled, there was a boy that was kind of interested in her at the time too who seemed to be jealous but ehh, that meant nothing. She had totally reciprocated his advances then and that just egged Arjan on further to try now, "What's a lovely lady like you doing here alone?" He added, looking down at the ground near her as he contemplated just sitting. But he remained standing for a moment, hoping she would ask him to join.

Oh, Pretty Woman
The moment that she locked eyes with Arjan and the boy smirked, Lydia felt her face blush up, caught off guard. She mentally scolded herself, she knew better than to just be caught staring at people, she wasn't 11 anymore. Almost as if to try and regain some dignity, Lydia looked away from the boy, and she tried to compose herself; she had no idea why this boy was making her feel so flustered, aside from his looks. Lydia contemplated getting up and walking away, but then thought that maybe the boy would have done that, now that he had caught her staring at him.
Stupid, stupid Lydia. You don't go around staring at people! He'll think you're crazy and-
Her inner monologue was interrupted by the sound of footsteps getting closer and closer to her, a signal that the boy was indeed moving, but towards her. Okay, let's not embarrass ourselves anymore, yeah? You know how to talk to people, and you know they like you. You've got this. She thought to herself, even if she wasn't too sure what "this" was. Once Arjan was close enough, she looked back and up towards him, and put on her cutest smile she could do in that moment, without looking too fake.
His pickup line was... something, Lydia was sure of that; it was even funny, in a way, and she giggled -maybe exaggerating it a little bit, but hey, if he was flirting, then two could play at this game. "That was really funny. I'm sure it works on plenty of girls," she said, batting her eyelashes a couple of times more than necessary. From up close he looked even better, and Lydia couldn't help but look at him for a second too long, before she looked down, a faint blush again on her cheeks. "It's good to see you too, I haven't seen you in a while, not since that summer game," she replied, smiling towards him.
At his question Lydia shrugged lightly, moving her feet into the cold water. "Just enjoying the nice weather while it lasts, staying close to the water, looking at pretty sights..." she said as she played with a strand of her hair, her eyes back on Arjan, almost as if putting the emphasis on the fact that he himself was something pretty she had been looking at. "Would you like to join me? Or do you need to get back to your exercises?" she asked him, and she lightly patted down with her right hand on the ground next to her. From the outside Lydia would have appeared completely at ease flirting, while inside she could feel her heart speed racing; it felt good though, being able to follow that side of herself that she usually ignored.
Whether if Arjan had joined her on the ground, or if he was still standing, Lydia would quickly run a hand through her hair, batting her eyelashes more, before she would look back at the boy. "I don't think last time I got your name, otherwise I'm sure I would have remembered it," she smiled cutely at him, before adding,"I'm Lydia, by the way,"
