Zylpha was born and raised in Aberdeen. She's part of an ancient pure-blood family from the Highlands. In fact, the Scarborough family was once part of a renowned clan, before the official Highlander Clan Culture came to an end. The Highlander culture, however, is still very important for Zylpha's family, and was pre-dominant in her upbringing.
She lived together with her mother, Mae, and father, Lazarus. Zylpha has one older brother, Absalom, who turned out to be a squib. Absalom does not possess any magic, despite having pure-blood parents. Though, this pained Lazarus, Mae never made an issue about it and now supports Absalom as he is studying to become a Veterinarian. Furthermore, Zylpha has two younger sisters, which are in fact twins, Leah and Aphra. Lastly, Zylpha has a younger brother, the youngest of the Scarborough family, Isaac.
Zylpha was often a loner during her childhood, she rather spent her time, wandering in forest than playing in the schoolyard. Her late grandfather usually accompanied her on her walks in the forest. During this time he learned her how to draw animals, and document their behaviour in a notebook. Zylpha still carries her little notebook on every forest-trip she makes, even though her grandfather is no longer there to accompany her. Zylpha did have one dear friend, Holly, a muggle. They had been friends for as long Zylpha could remember, and always had lived next to one another. Zylpha was deeply saddened to leave her only friend behind, to leave for Hogwarts...

As said, the Highlander Clan Culture came to an end as the official political system in the eighteenth century. However, Clan Culture was still remained in the Scarborough-family, who still organised 'Clan Gatherings', despite having no official clan left. At one of the many 'Clan Gatherings', Mae forced Zylpha to wear a pretty dress. Zylpha did not necessarily hate dresses, but this particular one she loathed. According to Zylpha it was way too 'girly' and she hated the purple color. She kept refusing to wear it. During Mae's last try to get Zylpha in the dress, Zylpha's hot-temper reached a maximum, and suddenly the entire dress went up in dust. It somehow just completely fell apart, piling up in dust on the floor. Despite the anger Mae felt, she was happy and relieved that Zylpha had her First Instance of Magic, something her elder son, Absalom, never had...

[font=Copperplate Gothic Light]Hogwarts - First Year[/font]

During the sorting ceremony, Zylpha was sorted into Ravenclaw! Zylpha felt immediately at home in this house. She was happy to be surrounded by like-minded people, who would not disturb her while she was reading her book. It also made her slightly anxious, since both her parents came from Slytherin. After the disappointment that Absalom was a squib, Zylpha was not sure how to tell them that their daughter did not get in to their former house... All was fine after a decent owl, of course! Zylpha was assigned to the Bonelli's Eagle-dormitory, which was heaven on earth for her, in the midst of the piles of books in this dormitory.
After also having located the Grand Library of Hogwarts, Zylpha carefully started on her first year at Hogwarts. During this year she would have the quest of opening up more to other people and make some new friends, now she had to miss Holly...
