It was a brand new year. Bloom was now a fifth year and that only meant a new beginning to get things right. Bloom made a promise to herself to continue to get her head in the game. She needed to keep her studies going and her goal was to continue meeting new people and making new friends, as well as keeping her old friendships. It was going to be a year of strength.
What best than to just spend some of her time outdoors in the Courtyard? Bloom figured that she could talk to some peers in the courtyard if she wanted to. And if she did not want to talk, she could just people watch others interacting with each other.
Bloom felt the warm air hit her face and blow her long, brunette hair back. She looked around and saw that there were some of her peers around, but there was one person that completely took her attention. She remembered her from the summer. But where exactly? Was it the cabin? Swimming outdoors? Spin the Bottle? No... Maybe it was Truth or Dare? Her last thought was maybe the Mysterious Maze game... No matter what, she remembered her.
Bloom walked up to her, forgetting her name and smiled. "Hi," she said, sitting near her. "I can't help but to remember for the life of me what event we were together in over the summer," she said, smiling sheepishly. "How did the summer treat you?" she asked, trying to start small talk with the girl.

Santario felt like she had been constantly on the move since school started. Having not realized how much of a toll being prefect, a healer intern, and duelling co-captain on top of trying to keep up with her studies would take on her. Add that to the very first day of school, having a dead boy waltz into their common room and the Hufflepuffs pounding on their door. It seemed that there would be very little time for the girl to relax, and she recognized that she would need to take advantage of it every chance that she got. So when she could steal away to the courtyard, she did so, taking perch in one of the vestibules that lined its edges. A book lay in her lap, and at first glance, it would look like she was reading over a herbology book. While it was a book about plants and herbs, it was not necessarily on the curriculum.
A voice pulled the noirette from the words printed on the page, sapphire eyes lifted to look at the older girl, a smile pulling up the corners of her lips. “Hello, I’m not sure we were in anything together, but if you watched duelling, I was in that.” The question of how her summer was brought to mind early morning laughter and black orchids bringing a more genuine smile to the Slytherin’s lips. “Despite the tragedy in Hogsmeade, I think, for the most part, it treated me pretty well. How about yourself? Oh, I am Santario, by the way!” She held her hand out in greeting.

Perhaps it was the dueling that made her remember this girl's face. The students who were a part of the dueling competitions were like jocks like Quidditch players. Their skills in dealing were always in awe to others, especially to Bloom. How were they able to know what spells to cast on the spot? Even during practices, Bloom doesn't know her spells that well. She would never be a good dueler, and she was always admiring the girl in front of her for doing just that.
Oh shit, the Hogsmeade tragedy, Bloom thought, remembering all the students from Koldovstoretz victims to such an explosion. It was one of the saddest things that happened over the summer aside from Ravenclaw's going into the Forbidden Forest, but perhaps not many knew about that which is good.
"Right, other than that, I'm glad that it went well though," she said, smiling back at the Slytherin girl, who had then introduced herself as Santario. It was a pretty and unique name. She had never heard anyone with such a name before that Bloom tried to spell it out in her head how it would look. She then realized she spent a second too long on that and shook her head. "Sorry, I'm Bloom," she said, finally introducing herself and grabbing Santario's hand for a good shake.
Bloom saw that she was reading the Herbology text book. It only reminded her of all the Herbology homework she had to do. She looked at the page and knowing that Santario was younger than Bloom, it was not something she recognized. Perhaps it was something that she wanted to study on her own. "Is Herbology a favorite subject of yours?" she asked, wondering if she was just reading for pleasure or if there was more to it. "By the way, what do you think of the new professor?" she asked, wondering her take on Professor Irons. He was a man from America who, to Bloom, seemed very laid back and outgoing in comparison to other professors at Hogwarts.
