POV: Dorothy Rod

Just like the past two years their father was the one that brought Adlai to the train station to send her off to her prestigious boarding school. However, this year Dorothy would be joining her. It had only been a few months since she discovered her magical abilities and her world had been turned upside down.
Dorothy was a woman of science, someone who knew there was always an explanation for something, that there was always a tested reason. However, there was no scientific method to apply to magic, at least as far as she knew, and it frightened her. Going along with Adlai to the place she called Hogwarts, she hoped to find answers whether they were ones she liked or not.

When she stepped onto the platform 9 ¾ she felt her stomach drop. Would she be ok? Would she be able to excel where they were going? How would her parents cope without her help around the house? Several anxious questions such as these began to fumble through her mind.

The sound of a train whistle screamed through the air. Her father’s hand found her shoulder and squeezed tight. “Are you ready?” he asked. Dorothy didn’t say a word. He helped his daughters onto the steps of the train, handing them their luggage one by one. “Be safe the both of you, don’t forget to write and know that we’ll all be waiting for you when you get back, ok?”
Adlai nodded along to her fathers words while Dorothy’s face remained solemn.
A second sound of a whistle.
“I best be off then.” he said as went to hold his daughters one last time before their departure and backed away from the steps of the train.

Adlai led Dorothy to an empty cart for the two of them to sit in and tucked both of their trucks away. As the two settled in before they knew it the train let out a third cry of a whistle and the train began to make a start. Dorothy felt her heart ache as she looked out the window and saw her father watching as the train began to pull out of the station. She pulled down the window of their cart.

“I love you!”
