Suzuki half-wished he was a first year again. Being a second year meant more classes, and more classes meant more homework. And harder homework, too. He was halfway through Charms homework, one fifth of his way through all of his homework. Everything was due by tomorrow night, and it was absolutely terrible.
Not to mention that it was still kind of the beginning of the school year. How much worse would things get? He shuddered at the thought of the amount of homework and classes he would have in his third year. Leaning back, he shook his cramped hand, hoping to relieve some of the tensing pain that came with writing too much, too fast, for too long.
Suzuki grimaced, and flipped through the massive textbook, searching for something that could prove helpful. He had long stopped trying to mark what each chapter, what each page was about in the margins- it wasted too much time and wasn't all that helpful.
He shifted the book slightly, and accidentally managed to knock another book off the table. A large thud sounded throughout the room. Faces turned to him. Suzuki grimaced again, and reached down to pick it up.
It took both hands, and he managed to heave it back onto the table. The faces turned away, and he continued working.

With a Potions essay due soon, Shanelle went to the study room to get the homework done. She had a lot on her mind, with all the homework and the other events around the school, her mind was bursting. Plus, she still has not got a lot of friends, that was one problem that should be sorted out first, she was getting lonely in the large castle.
She noticed the Gryffindor next to her as she pulled out the parchment she was working on. He seemed to be a second year, and he was fumbling with his own homework. ‘Now’s the chance, Shanelle.’ Shanelle said to herself.
Taking a huge breath, Shanelle walked over. “Um, hi! I am Shanelle Meza, I am a first year. Nice to meet you.” She said, annoyed that her voice sounded squeaky. She mentally chided herself for being so shy. She hoped she didn’t make a fool of herself as she slides her chair over, closer and brought her homework with her.
Not wanting to just sit there, Shanelle glanced at the parchment in front of him and noticed that it was Charms. “So, you’re stuck on Charms homework? I am doing Potions.” Shanelle said, to break the silence.

He looked up from his strangely written essay (it was really terrible) when a blond girl walked up to him and announced her name and year. She slid her chair over and started on her own homework.
" Hi... I'm Suzuki, second year. And yeah, I'm doing Charms."
He glanced back down at his stupid essay. His terrible handwriting filled half a page, full with unnecessary adjectives and lopsided words. Suzuki grimaced.
"You're lucky you're only a first year. Second year's worse." He said finally, pulling out a new sheet of parchment and scrunching the first one up into a ball. Suzuki had a thing about badly written essays- they annoyed him to no end, and he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he got a bad grade on something he hadn't really tried on.
Flipping through the page, he found something useful, and jotted it down. Christian, a family friend, had told Suzuki to practice writing neatly, as fast as he could. He had gone about five minutes before his hand died. Suzuki had then decided to not take Christian's advice, ever, which was probably a good idea, since Christian was a guy who didn't even pass his OWLS.

Shanelle leaned forward to skim through Kage’s essay. She could see some grammatical mistakes, some unnecessary words but it was clear and makes sense otherwise.
“Hmm, I think you did a good job on this. I haven’t learned about this spell yet but I think it’s good.” Shanelle said, politely but still speaking the truth. When she heard the comment about second years, she smiled. “I am already dreading it, I heard that the professors are so much harder in second years.” She said, shaking her head.
She watched as Kage crumpled the paper and pulled a new parchment. He began writing very fast. Shanelle smiled, it seemed a foolish thing to do it to your own hand. The boy was going to have a sore hand very soon.
With the smile still on her face she returned to her own work, thinking back on the things the professor had said and wrote them down. She was required to write a 1,000 words essay on the Swelling Solution. She was halfway through, with nothing on her mind.
“Hey, I am working on the Swelling Solution, can you help me?” Shanelle said, turning back to Kage. She was out of ideas and still had a lot to go, and the homework was due the other day.
