History/Background Story:
Lore was born into what was a somewhat unorthodox, but happy family. She has an older brother who was 6 when her parents met. She doesn't know how her wizard father and muggle mother met, but the years spent with her father were the happiest in Lore's memory. He would often go on trips and come back with presents and the most fantastical stories. When he died, a little while after Lore's 5th birthday, the atmosphere in their house changed.

Reality became harsh and mundane and the mention of her father's "children's stories" was met with frowns and avoidance. Two years later, her younger sister was born, and as her sister's father made his entrance and exit from their lives the distance between Lore and the rest of her family became tangible. Her mother always seemed to be working, frowning more than not, her brother seemed to be constantly brooding and her little sister was, well, boring. When all this became too much to deal with, Lore would turn to daydreaming, making up stories like her father used to. When passing by a forest at dusk she'd imagine the fireflies roaming between the trees were actually pixies, luring in unsuspecting victims. The growl of the neighbor's dog was the warning of werewolf, swearing revenge on humans for keeping their pets chained. At night, owl spies would peer in through people's windows, reporting what they see to their mysterious masters.

And at times things would happen that were just strange enough to keep her dreaming. Once, when her brother was being particularly mean to her, she imagined a troll would bust in through the kitchen wall, smashing everything to bits (and making her brother cry before moving on with his rampage). Unfortunately, this didn't happen. But eggs and ham did inexplicably jump forth from the pan, hitting her brother in the face and smearing his freshly pressed school clothes. He didn't cry, but he did turn very red.
Another time, when she took a wrong turn and the clerk chasing her and a handful of shoplifted goods was about to catch her and inevitably get her grounded and doing all the chores until she turned 60 - the man seemed to look straight through her before moving on, seeming a little less angry and a bit more confused and disoriented than before.

Lore prefers to spend most of her time out of the house, with friends. There, she let her adventurous side roam free, inching ever further from her childhood home and dreaming of a day when she'd leave it, and her hometown, for good.

When she received her Hogwarts letter, a whole new horizon opened up, and memories of the time spent with her father trickled back in, clearer than ever. All the stories became real possibilities. Despite the massive fight that ensued as the disappointment and feeling of betrayal towards her mother for keeping this secret hit her like a brick, the woman found the funds to send Lore off to Hogwarts in the fall, affording her the first great adventure of her own.
