A Trip to be remembered
Clair hugged her mother, "be a good honey-bear! Remember to write lots! make friends! Don't steal! Don't bug your sister! Or her friends! And send be an owl right as soon as your sorted into your house!" Clair's Mother shouted, Clair nodded "yes Mum!" She glopped, 'do I really HAVE to run through a wall? Is it completely necessary? ' she wondered, her sister, Izzy. Smiled at her "c'mon! Scared? Watch!" She ran full on and zoomed into the wall at full speed. Clair took a deep breath, closed her eyes, held on to her trolley and ran head on into, the wall. Hoping like crazy That her sister had not done magic to get in, 'geez I will look real stupid if the wall does not work!' She thought with a grimace. But as she ran she never hit a wall! But the yelling of her mother stopped and her sister's laughing was now able to be heard, Clair opened her eyes, a big red steam engine sat on a rail track huffing impatiently, hundreds of students stood on the platform, some mothers and fathers sat with their children saying goodbye and hugging them, Izzy stood with her wizarding friends, so Clair went up to one of the train's many doors, she hopped up in dragging her trunk, the train had many compartments, she choose the closest one, stuck her bag up and sat down, she watched as families parted and students looked for their friends, 'I wonder if I'll make any friends?' She wondered.

'Bye mom' Jean said as she waved at the white car slowly making its way back towards the city. She held her heavy suitcase in her hands as she made her way inside the crowded train station, not having the slightest idea of what she ought to do next. Her ticket clearly indicated 'Platform 9 3/4', but she knew very well such things didn't exist. Glancing around she could clearly see Plateform 9 and 10, nothing in between.
Biting her lip, she stood there for a couple of minutes. And then the unexpected happened. She saw a woman going through a wall. Staring at the wall, her eyebrows furrowed, she was girl disappearing through it once again. Was she dreaming ? This seemed so real and vivid. Her eyes darted between the signs. 9 and 10. 9 and 10...
Was the platform 9 3/4 right in between them ? Surely that had to be it. She remembered her dad mentioning a platform hidden in plain sight, this had to be it.
Not taking another second to think about it, Jean rushed towards the wall, her eyes squinting as she approached it and opening them back up as she got to the other side.
Jean was standing on the plateform, surrounded by hundreds of peculiarly dressed wizards. Her eyes darted in every direction, trying to understand her surroundings. Everyone was accompanied and saying their goodbyes, mothers and fathers were waving eagerly at their child who's head was peaking out the window. All of these people made her feel quite lonely.
Glancing around, she stepped on the train only to find yet another crowd of nervous and agitated students. Why was the train so old ? It had to be at least a hundred years old... She cautiously dodged every person she encountered and made her way towards the compartments. The corridor was quite narrow, and her aching arms begged her to put the luggage down. Every compartment she had crossed was full and talking was the last thing she wished for. Not taking to long to think, she opened the door to the one she thought was empty.
Closing it behind her, she stood there for a moment, her eyes empty of expression. There was a girl. Now there was no going back, it would probably be perceived as rude to walk away now, and surely all of the other compartments were bound to be full at some point.
She sighed in exasperation as she looked at the girl. Not saying a word, she used the last bit of power left in her arms to lift her bagage up before sitting down and staring out the window.
Hopefully she would leave her alone for the rest of the ride.

Clair looked up as a girl with blank eyes stepped in, she looked nervous, Clair gulped. The girl lugged her stuff on the rack and sat down, she seemed either bored or wanting to not see Clair. Clair understood this, most people did not look at her, they always ignored her.
So Clair reached up and got a few thinks from her bag; a small bag of mints and a book.
The book, was a old book, it had a red cover and faded letters, but Clair knew this book by heart. It was the book of her grandfather's life. His diary was given to her when he had died. It had every thought and feeling her grandfather had felt. The book was thick, very thick.
Clair popped a mint in her mouth and opened the book, she then did then did what she did not think she would do, she held the bag out to the other girl. She had not looked up at the girl, she had just given the girl a mint. Why? she wondered, but she did not take the bag away.
She stared at the old pages of her Grandfather's book. She knew what the first one said it said:
She also liked how he had complained about Mimi, Clair's Grandmother, and her sisters being so Lazy, little did he know they were very busy inside the house! Clair had met her grandfather when she was a baby, but after leaving to live in the UK she had lost memory of him, and that was why he had sent her the book, right before he died.
She looked at the Girl, not knowing whether she had taken a mint or not Clair put the bag away. She smiled at the girl

Clair giggled she found it funny that her father's first entry in hos diary, that ye had named Benji, was about the snow, her had lived in Canada for his whole life, and he had loved the snow.Dear Benji October 9, 1937.
Today it snowed! In October! And it snowed a lot! We got 3 feet! But hey I guess that's Newfoundland, Canada for you! I had to shovel it, and it took forever! I have to help Madam Pansey with her snow, She is far to old to do it herself, I can't understand why her daughters don't do it! Lazy brats they are! Mimi is by far the laziest of all three daughters! Oh well, I am fit and can do it! I hope my posterity will not be lazy! Or I will show them!
I hope to have three kids, two so s and a daughter. It would be great!
Oh well it's snowing again. I better get outside with the shovel again!

A Trip to be remembered
Mountains and greenery passed by as Jean held her head at the window, feeling the coolness of the glass on her skin. The girl in front of her didn't feel totally at ease, she noticed her gulping when she entered the compartment. Was is because of her? Maybe, but Jean didn't think too much about it. She was used to silence, it was sometimes than talking unnecessarily. Plus, what would've she said to her? Nothing. She knew nothing about the girl, her name nor her personality. So, Jean stayed silent.
Breaking the silence, the girl gathered a few things from her bag before offering a mint. A mint ? Were people really that friendly ? Was this normal in the wizarding world ? No one at her school did anything nice unless they had other plans following up. Well, whatever the girl's intentions were, Jean reached out her hand to take the candy.
She put it on her tongue and felt melt a little, leaving, of course, a strong taste of mint in her mouth she enjoyed, hoping it wouldn't fade away to rapidly.
The girl was now reading a book that seemed quite damaged by time. Not really knowing what to do, she reached and took out a book she had taken for the trip, an insignificant romance novel her sister had recommended. Her attention enabled her to read the first few pages but was soon more captivated by the scenery that unfolded right before their eyes. She watched attentively, shooting a few glances at the girl sitting in front of her, wondering if she was going to do something else.

Clair noticed that the girl seemed to have tried to read a book and then started to look outside more, she also noticed that the girl kept peaking at her, was she nice? Did she want to talk? Or stay quite? Clair decided to wait till she seen the Girl glance at her, and when she did Clair made Eye contact. Then took it to the next level, hoping not to scare the girl she smiled and said
"Hello, my name is Clair Fernandez, I'm Muggle born, how about you?" This she hoped would open the girl up to talking, maybe she is nervous like me? Or maybe she is shy, I hope she does not think I am rude Clair thought, still smiling at the girl do I offer my hand like a grown up person? Do I stop smiling? Am I smiling for too long and looking weird? Clair closed her Grandfathers book, she did not really need to read it, she knew it all by heart anyway.
Pulling out her small bag of mints she popped one in her mouth and offered the girl more mints
"take as many as you want, my mum will send me tons, she does that with Izzy." She put the bag in a spot where they both could reach it. Then she started to look outside.

The girl offered more mints and Jean took three more, she enjoyed the way they melted in her mouth and the fresh minty taste they left lingering in her mouth. The ride shouldn’t be too long, hopefully, because the anticipation felt a little heavy on her chest. Everything she had learnt in a matter of days felt surreal and a little overwhelming. Perhaps the girl was accustomed to magic and everything seemed completely and perfectly mundane. Still staring out the window, she sighed deeply, fogging up the window in front of her. Slowly, she drifted her gaze onto the girl, about whom she still knew nothing. Her stare was a little blank and her face showed little to no expression.
‘Are you used to all this?’ She asked, her tone of voice slightly monotonous, breaking the silence.
Her eyebrows were furrowed. She hoped the girl would give out a little information so she wouldn’t feel as lost when she got there. Jean didn’t know what to expect, were there a lot of people? Was the extent of the knowledge she ignored that immense ? Did people there already know everything about magic? Would she be able to make a handful of friends? All of these thoughts gathered up in her mind, preventing her from enjoying the ride.
Leaving for a magic school felt so abrupt. Just moments ago she had left her mom and her sister, her hometown and her friends and would only be back in a few months. Jean had never been that far from home for such a long period of time. Hopefully she’d like it, maybe she’d enjoy it more than regular school with regular lessons. She’d be able to muster up magic, real magic from an odd wooden stick. Someday she’d impress her sister with the spells she’d be able to cast.
Thinking of her sister saddened her slightly. Unlike her, Esme hadn’t been accepted into Hogwarts. She could see magic but could never be a witch, her dad referred to her as a squib. She’d be devastated if the roles were reversed, being so close to something amazing and never being able to do anything that included magic.

Clair smiled, "Nah, It's my first hear I'm Muggle born, this whole thing is completely confusing" while Clair was super confused she had a big smile and a brave face, "you Muggle born too? Or a half blood?" She figured the girl was not a Pureblood, judging by her last question,
"My sisters both went to Hogwarts, Izzy is a third year and Belle is done school, both were in the house Slytherin, so I'm guessing I'll get that house too, though I hope to get Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff..." She looked at the girl. Maybe she should stop talking, stop being the loud o e with all the words, yet it seemed like Jean was not going to talk, so Clair decided that she would fill the gap, "I'm not sure how long the ride is, do you?" To many questions? Maybe, Clair grinned "Do you have any pets? I really want a rabbit, but I don't have enough Galleons yet."
She looked out the window, watching the land role by, 'I wonder how the train fits every student in Hogwarts on it in one trip? So many students' she thought trying to guess how many students fit on the train in one go.
