Lost Letters PV Burnett

A stack of letters would be neatly tied together with a rough string of brown yarn. On the light envelope at the top of the stack would gleam a single name in light blue ink. A certain @Jack Burnett would have gotten his hands on those long lost pieces of parchment, and should curiosity overtake him, should he open those letters to read what he had so willingly been handed, he would find more light blue ink talking of familiar names.

Dearest Aria,
You would be pleased to find Ruka has inherited your affinity for fire. He reminds me more of you with each passing day. Sometimes looking at him is painful.

If only I could offer you the things you seem to need. I do not need you to tell me where you have found a home but I hope you are happy there. I still wish I could see you again. I wish our son could meet his mother.

Your letters keep me warm on cold winter nights. The thought of seeing your beautiful face again is what keeps me going despite all hardships.

Ruka has started asking about you. The mother he has never known. He is curious and stubborn, and often I do not know how to deal with his many questions. I fear my best may not be good enough when it comes to raising a child.

I know I cannot offer you much, but won’t you consider a life with us? We could make you happy.

I fear I may not be in good health. I try not to let it showbut I know Ruka has noticed. He tries to take care of meas I should be taking care of him and it fills me with shame. He deserves a family like the one you are trying togive your son. Why do you deny him that?

Is it my blood in his veins that keeps you away? Could you be so cold as to abandon your own child over something he cannot change? The woman I met all thoseyears ago would never.

Still, my heart longs for you and hope remains.

The day I have feared has finally come. Ruka has shown signs of magic as you predicted. Flames sparked from his hands just like they did from yours when we first met.

It fascinates and scares me. I do not know how power like this should be dealt with. What if it causes damage to himself or others? I do not want any harm to befall him. I need your advice, Aria. I need your guidance but you are not here and by now I doubt you ever will be. Not in my lifetime at least.

Never would I ask anything of you but this one time, please tell me what I should be doing. Please be a mother to our son.

Your generosity is appreciated, though selfishly I wish you would offer us more than your money.

I have convinced Ruka to attend this school you talk so highly of. He was reluctant and I fear he might not adjust very well to life at a bording school. I know I will certainly miss him. I have attached a photo of us for you so you can see our son even if you are not with us.

I fear I might not be around for much longer, my health is steadily declining. I hope you will find it in yourself to seek Ruka out when I can no longer be with him.

It has taken me a long time to make this decision but I believe I am finally ready to take this step and meet our son. I am longing to see you again and I do not want to miss my chance should it be my last one.

Of course I will be taking care of Ruka when the time comes. You can rest easy.
