Fay Fitzgerald has pale white skin, blue eyes, and dark brown, long hair. She's currently going through a hat-wearing phase. In addition to hats, Fay wears contacts due to her having inherited bad eyesight from her father.
Childhood:
Fay Fiona Fitzgerald was born on July 7th, 2010 in Mullingar, Ireland.
Ever since Fay was a little girl, she had a knack for being curious about anything and everything; from why leaves changed during the fall to what happened in the next chapter in a book she was reading. If her parents couldn't answer her questions, she'd turn to books to hopefully get a decent response, she can be quite the ambitious girl when she wants to be. Along with that, Fay is shy around others. It takes her a while to warm up to someone to want to start rambling like she always does to her parents. Another tidbit about Fay is that she's caring, kind and has the patience of a saint, unlike her parents whose patience is always extremely thin. However, she can be stubborn and insecure. Fay grew up as an only child and while at times that could be lonely she always found herself something to do whether that was reading, drawing or walking around the backyard, listening to the sounds of nature.
Family, friends and schooling:
Her parents, Monica and Derek Fitzgerald, both had jobs that kept them immensely busy. Monica was a firefighter and Derek, an English teacher. Even if her parents were away at their jobs mostly, Fay was still close with both of them. On rare occasions when Monica and Derek had to go out of town because of their jobs, Fay would stay at her friend's homes. One such friend was a girl her age, who shared her love for reading. They had formed a little book club with the girl's older brother by a year, and spent the time browsing books in the library, reading them and talking about how they felt about the storylines and characters.
Aside from her parents, Fay has grandparents from both sides of her family, a couple aunts, uncles and a few cousins that were younger than Fay herself.
She went to a public primary school, made a few friends, including the girl and her brother in the book club. She took all the subjects in school, wanting to get a taste for every class and what interested her the most. She liked to think she was good at writing related classes. When she wasn’t busy with her schooling, she spent her time reading, hiking, and listening to music.
First Instance of Magic:
Her first display of magic was when she was 5 years old. She had been denied the one of the things she loved, cookies. She had pouted a bit angrily, begged and cried but no matter what she tried her parents wouldn't give into her demands. Then, Fay's eyes widened when she saw the lid of the cookie jar on the table come off and fall on the table. She had reached her tiny hand in and grabbed a cookie and bit into it smiling at the confused looks on her parents faces. Over the years, Fay kept having little outbursts of magic. When she was 7, she once levitated a piece of chalk out from under her father’s car in the driveway; she was drawing when it rolled under the car, out of her reach. She cried, not being able to get it back, when suddenly, it flew back into her hand. Her parents had been horrified, worried that the neighbors had seen. At the time, Fay didn’t understand how scared her parents were of her due to the unexplainable things happening around her.
Hogwarts Letter:
Fay had just come home from one of her book club meetings, shortly before her 11th birthday, to find her parents talking with someone she’d never seen before. Her parents had introduced her to a professor that taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Fay remembered doing a double-take. Witchcraft? Isn’t that magic? She was caught off guard. It was then the professor handed her an envelope. She opened it up and looked up in shock. Her parents looked shocked and horrified once the professor started explaining about Fay’s ability to do magic.
After a bit of time to let it all soak in, Fay had grown ecstatic to discover magic was real and that she was going to be learning it over the next several years. Her parents looked relieved. She tilted her head, wondering why. Maybe it had to do with her being able to possibly control her magic and not have accidental magic.
First Trip to Diagon Alley:
Fay had never seen a place as beautiful and magical as Diagon Alley. She loved seeing everything the magical area offered. She purchased all her school supplies and just needed to get her wand. It took a few times but she finally found her match, a 28,9 cm with applewood and dragon heartstring.
She wished she could have bought more books to learn more but her parents pointed out to her that she didn't have a lot of knowledge on just what she should buy and said that she would be taught everything once she started school. She had agreed sadly.
