Robes, Gloves, Hats And Friends?
Cassidy stood outside Madam Malkin's, holding her supply list between her pale fingers. Her dark gaze swept across the enchanted parchment until she reached the clothing section.
“We need... Three black work robes, a black pointed hat, protective gloves and a winter cloak,” She rattled the items off the list, glancing up at her mum after she had finished.
“OK, we'll get that here,” her mum jerked her head at the shop in front of them while Cassidy folded the parchment again and stuffed it into her black coat's pocket. She was wearing jeans, trainers and a rain coat which made her feel like she stood out. Maybe everybody thought she was a muggle. Could muggles get into Diagon Alley? Probably not. But still...
“You'll get other robes when you're sorted into your house,” her mother interrupted her string of thoughts, bursting it like a bubble.
She had already begun into the shop, leaving Cassidy to scurry up behind her.
There were no dancing robes or instrument-playing gloves like Cassidy had theorized. Bar the few levitating rolls of measuring tape and equipment, the shop looked like... Just that, a shop. Maybe not all of the alleyway was utterly weird. There were a few kids around her age standing on stools, getting measured. To her relief, they seemed to wear normal clothes as well. She had always thought witches and wizards wore muggle clothes, but a lot of the magical beings in the alley wore black cloaks and stereotypical hats.
A woman approached them after a minute of measuring a customer and directed her to a stool, “For Hogwarts, I'm guessing? Hop up on the stool for me.”
Cassidy awkwardly stepped up onto the wooden stool and, reluctantly, let some floating tape take some basic measurements while she stood, unknowing on how to react or what to do. She watched her mother discuss with the woman, probably about what they were there for, before taking in her surroundings. There was a person next to her on a stool.
She gave a half-hearted smile to them as the tape drew away from her, hoping they would start the conversation so she didn't have to.

Robes, Gloves, Hats And Friends?
During the summer, Paige had reached a growth spurt. In her first year, she was very short, she looked up to all her friends. Figuratively and Literally. All her friends were amazing. But during the summer, she went from 4"6 to 4"11. What's that? Progress! She was growing! A bit aggravated that she was but one inch away from 5 feet, she considered getting tall shoes. But that would be stupid. No, she would stick to her lucky red air force's. They were all scratched up, but she considered them lucky.
"Mum, I need new robes... my other ones are a bit short now. She said to her mom, as they walked the streets. Her mother looked at the robe shop. "Alright, honey. You go ahead, Ill be at the ice cream place, it's hot out here. Would you like some?" Paige nodded. You know what flavour. And at that, she turned and opened the shop door.
She looked around, and Madam Malkin walked up to her. She brought her to a stool and Paige
stood on it. She didn't feel awkward like she had last time, because she had done this before. It wasn't new to her. She smiled as Madam Malkin went to get some things, and she looked around. She saw a girl, a very cute girl. Aw, she must be a firsty! Paige thought, returning the smile. "Hi! I'm Paige. Is this your first year at Hogwarts? She asked.

“Yeah, I'm called Cassidy,” Cassidy replied to the comfortable girl. Paige seemed to be a little older than her, but she was never good at guessing ages. She might go to Hogwarts too; it seemed to be the place most witches and wizards her age went, so it wouldn't be a stretch.
“Do you go to Hogwarts too, then?” Cassidy asked Paige, her gaze flickering away from the girl for a second as the tape returned and began it's duty again; wrapping itself around her elbows; measuring where her joints were; random tailoring stuff. She quickly looked back at Paige and gave her another question, “If you do, what's your year?”
If she was in Hogwarts, perhaps she could give Cassidy some information about this bizzare experience. Her mind began to drift to Hogwarts. She imagined a grand brick castle that reached the clouds with the lake her mother had described to her which first years would cross on wooden boats. She hoped they were enchanted to prevent sinking. Perhaps Paige could tell her how to not drown as well.
Cassidy realised she had begun to drift into her mind and forgotten about her actual conversation with Paige, which she quickly returned her attention to with a mental scolding to herself.

So, the girl's name was Cassidy. That was a very cute name, in fact, it fit the girl very well. "Nice to meet you, Cassidy. " She responded, smiling at the girl. She seemed to be younger than Paige, which is why she guessed she was a firsty. Also the nervous look on her face gave it away as well.
She nodded. "I do. She clarified, before answering the next question. "I'm in my second year. She felt proud to say this. To say she survived a whole year at Hogwarts. She wouldn't mention any of the bad things to the girl, yet, she didn't want to scare her.
" Are you new to the magical world like I was? Or are one of your parents magical? She asked, knowing it could be confusing when you were new to this stuff. "Either way, Hogwarts will seem so amazing even if you know all about it. Which I'm sure you wouldn't. No one really does, it has so many secrets!" She chatted happily to the young girl.
"I'm in Hufflepuff, do you know what that is? I sure didn't when I got sorted, but now I'm so proud to be a Hufflepuff. She jabbered, realizing she was talking a mile a minute. She shut her mouth.

“My mum's a witch, that's her over there,” Cassidy jabbed a finger at her mum chatting happily to the lady who seemed to own the shop. Her mum was always a lot more ext inverted than her, she had no idea where she got her withdrawn nature from because it wasn't from her father either.
Her mum had told her that Hufflepuffs were the nicer ones over brave Gryffindor and sly Sytherin, which she mentioned to Paige, “My mum said Hufflepuffs were normally kind. You're nice, so I guess she's right.”
So Paige was a second year, like she had theorized. She hadn't noticed how exceptionally pretty she was; her thick dark hair was like a winding dark river and her blue eyes seemed to reflect the mysterious sea.
“I've been told a bit about Hogwarts, but as you said; I'm sure there's a lot to learn about it when I'm there. It seems like a fantasy story to me; the big castle, magical wands and stuff. I'm kind of nervous, ” Cassidy curled her dirty blonde hair around her index finger. It was a habit of hers, to twirl her hair around her finger. She didn't bother correcting it because it didn't seem to damage her.
“Do first years really have to come across a lake in a boat? Is the water too deep?” She questioned Paige, her eyes widening the slightest bit as the words flowed through her lips.
