As she would say, "Me ma's a witch, and me Dad’s a muggle". She is from one of those big Irish countryside-living family, and has the accent to prove it. She was born in Donegal in 2010 but her family moved in Sligo when she was seven due to a small incident in her hometown. Her parents never really told her hat happened, but it seemed to involve people being suspicious and thinking her mom might be a witch. Both the school she attended in Donegal and in Sligo were teaching in Irish, and she speaks it fluently.

She has four siblings. Colm (the firstborn) and Niamh (the third born) are wizards, while Caoimhe (the second born) is a muggle. The last born of the family is still a toddler and it’s a bit early to tell. Because of her half-muggleness, magic wasn't really discussed at home, and she doen't know a lot about the wizarding world. In addition to that, the area doesn’t have many sorcerers in it, so the only wizards she has seen so far are in her family. Quinn went to primary school with the muggles, but has never made any real friends, as she was trying to protect her secret. Because of that lack of contact with outsiders, she is really close to her siblings, particularly of Niamh, whom is only one year older than her.
She wasn’t a hundred percent sure that she was a witch until the day she got her letter. Weird things happened in the house and around her, but her mother didn’t know if it was because of Quinn being a witch or one of the other siblings. She did hope she would be one. She really wanted to go to Hogwart with Niamh.

Quinn doesn’t know what her first instance of magic was. That is because she was very young when it happened. She was five years of age, and she was quite the adventurous kind. She had decided to climb up the highest tree in the family garden, to jump from the top and use an umbrella to do like Mary Poppins. She got quite easily to the top, opened the umbrella and jumped. Instead of falling right on her face, as one would normally do in such circumstances, she went flying in the air, and got to the ground safe and sound. To this day she still thinks that this was normal and that anyone who jumps from the top of a tree with an umbrella will land safely.
