Time had passed and the sun would slowly start to set as the colors of pink and orange would stretch over the horizon in a soft evening glow. It was about 7:30 pm when groups of students had been called and sorted into groups of three by none other than Alan, who had worked on fun games to make a reward for those that had shown exceptional work despite the summer break.
"Alright so the game plan is simple, you start by entering the first area that you can see over there," Alan explained as he pointed toward a big tent that stood on the Ground, obscured by soft evening mist and perhaps a few magic tricks. The big tent stretched across a big part of the grounds, yet if the group were to enter it, they would find themselves in but a little room. "Throughout this little, well, adventure, you will be awarded with tokens after having fulfilled some tasks and challenges. I will leave you to yourself to figure out any clues and challenges, but am here for making sure things go smoothly and for answering questions about the mechanics," he further explained, leaving what the specific tasks would entail in the shadows so that the students may be surprised by what would expect them. A light smile curled over his lips as he mentioned for the students to approach the tent.
If they were to push aside the opening of the tent, they would enter a small room that seemed a little crowded. A wooden floor stretched past the students and a few dusty book shelves would frame some of the walls, though stacks and piles of books that have been used to build towers on the ground, seem to catch the eye even more. A little lantern would swing from the ceiling , ready to be grabbed, as well as a two oil lamps that had been placed on a wooden stool. Those two would shine a soft light onto a small scroll, sealed with a red wax seal. Ominously it would wait there, for a student to go ahead and open what was written inside. A quill lay beside it, with a fresh inkwell as an old gramophone sitting sitting in a corner of the room would play soft music in a jazzy tune. For those that would look around more carefully, they'd notice how the majority of the books had something, anything to do with the world of magical creatures.
If students were to break the seal and open the scroll they would be greeted with the following letter:For an unknown reason, there was a lot of space between the signature and where the students were supposed to answer the questions. Was there something missing? Was there something more to this? It clearly seemed to be missing a part, despite the letter being complete; perhaps something that was to be revealed later on? Alan was curiously waiting for the students to start finding their answers and starting to fill in what the letter had asked them to do. Pretty easy of a task. At the end of the room was a door that was currently closed.Dear Reader,
I must have lost track on the information I have been looking for. I require the answers to these three questions, may you be so kind to find them for me? Use the quill to write on the paper, you may use the books as resource if you find yourself stuck;
1.) Which animal is known as the Irish Phoenix? Answer below:
_______________________________________________________
2.) I am looking for the name of the creature which's song will make you go insane:
_______________________________________________________
3.) A Demiguise is known for many things, but why do their eyes turn blue?

Listening carefully, Rosella looked at the large tent in front of her as her group was told the instructions for the activity they were doing. "So it is a challenge," she muttered lowly to herself as she looked at the other three students in her group. Slowly she made her way into what she thought would be a large tent, only to enter into a small room instead. This confused the Russian girl greatly, but she went with it instead. Glancing around the room slightly, the first thing she noticed was the two lamps sitting on either side of what seemed like a scroll.
The girl slowly made her way towards the scroll, looking at all of the books that lined the shelves around her. What could those books possibly be used for. Shaking her head, she looked down at the scroll that was now in front of her before breaking the wax seal quickly. Rosella could already tell that by reading the first question that she was not going to be able to answer the questions off the top of her head. Apparently that is what the books were for. Quickly the girl read through the rest of the questions before making her way over to books around the room to find one that could help her with the information.

Bridget had not been expecting a reward for studying over the summer, but was pleasantly surprised to receive one. She imagined it was more difficult to gauge who was putting in the effort over the summer without being in a classroom and distributing house points. No doubt it was more observation-based; she did the studying in her cabin mostly, unless some of the louder occupants were present, meaning the adult in there with them would have seen. Though getting ahead was a reward in itself, it was with excitement she made her way to the 'adventure'. This would be something to do, after all, and a more natural way to meet people than trying to strike up a conservation with her cabinmates, especially since things like Truth or Dare weren't her cup of tea.
With the sun creeping towards the horizon and little idea how long this might take, Bridget opted for a lighter striped sweater to pair with her shorts [x], trying to balance between the summer heat and encroaching night. Her hair was also taken care of, braided back and into a ponytail [x] to keep out of her face. She would gather around Alan Vanes, who was evidently the one organizing this, with the rest of those invited. Like-minded individuals, it seemed, all of them recognized for an effort to learn more even during their months off. There could be an element of necessity to it--she felt the summer work necessary to be prepared for duelling and surviving Hogwarts' dangerous halls--but all the same, these peers had her respect for this, so long as they didn't immediately lose it by doing something stupid.
Her group consisted of three other girls. Lavinia Cloven was in her year, so they'd shared a few classes through the years. Then there was Evelynn Decipio, who was in the year under her. They'd met about two months ago on that day in Hogsmeade, and between what she'd seen of her there and the knowledge Flash deemed her a worthy ally, she found herself looking forward to working through whatever they were tasked with together. The last girl she didn't recognize; though surely she'd seen her face around at camp, she must have been an incoming first year or foreign student. Introductions were in order, she supposed. "Hi, I'm Bridget."
Instructions were provided, even if they weren't incredibly detailed. As Alan had said, it was a simple game. Tasks for tokens. Likely a fairly obvious path to take, unless there was a maze. Maybe a bit like an escape room? Well, the best way to find out was to start, not stand around thinking about it, and so once his explanation was concluded, she approached the tent. It looked quite large, despite the fact it hardly needed to be--their cabins were perfect examples of magic's expanding abilities--and it was difficult to make out many more details than that. The whole area was covered in mist, fog, a spell's effects, something like that. She reached out a hand as they passed through it, a little like a child might brush their fingers along a textured wall. Trailing the girl with orange-ish hair, Bridget entered the tent to find herself in a room much smaller than expected. Either this was the reverse of the magic on the cabins, or there were more rooms in the tent and this was simply the entry point. Indeed, the far wall had a closed door, presumably locked until they completed what this room had in store.
Much like her cabin, the Occamy Cabin or 'library cabin' as some had referred to it, the small room was stuffed with books. Books on shelves, books piled on the ground. She crouched down to read one of the titles, something in relation to magical creatures. The next one as well, and the next one; there was clearly a common theme here. Straightening up, she approached the now-opened scroll. On it was three questions, all about magical creatures--who would have guessed, though this was clearly set up to allow for any necessary researching--and a suspiciously large amount of space between number three and the signature. "Maybe we should try Revelio?" She stated the thought process out loud, since this was something of a team activity.
First, though, she would address what she could see. Who knew, perhaps answering the questions correctly would be all it took to reveal the presumed rest of the writing. Irish Phoenix. This one she knew right away. "It's the Aurgurey. We covered them in Care of Magical Creatures last year." Though not her favorite class, she would be loathe to not pay attention. Well then, what else was there to do but fill in the answer? Unless objected to by the others, Bridget would push her sleeves up to her elbows so they were well out of the way, pick up the quill, dip it in ink--honestly, pens were so much more convenient--and write in Aurgurey.
What about the next two? She was content to simply be the one writing in the answers for now, while the rest explored the room, referenced the books, or contributed verbally to the magical creature quiz. Hmm... which creatures had songs? Even just from what she knew of nonmagical animals, that typically applied to birds and sea creatures, right? The Aurgurey might have been her first guess were it not already an answer, though if she recalled correctly, that wasn't related to insanity and was just a myth, anyhow. There were others, surely. Mandrakes had more of a cry than a song, were plants rather than fauna, and again, had to do with death instead of madness. Phoenixes had songs, but those helped rather than hurt.
Songs and insanity, birds and sea creatures. She tapped her foot, thinking hard, searching through all her magical knowledge for something that would fit. It did sound familiar, so she was sure she'd read about it, but where was the question. "I'm drawing a blank," she admitted. "Any ideas? Or we can look in the books, it'll be in there. Look for songs, maybe dangers different creatures pose. I feel like it's a bird, so we could narrow it down with that, but I'm not sure."
As for the last question, she at least appreciated they would know what creature, specifically, to look into if need be. "Demiguises can turn invisible, so maybe their eyes turn blue when they do that? Though I guess you wouldn't be able to see their eyes when they do that to tell... so probably something else." This question was not one she could answer with the same confidence as the first. Fortunately, four brains were better than one and with all these books around, they would figure this out one way or another.

It had been quite the unexpected surprise for Evelynn to find herself called and sorted into a group for a little bit of a camp adventure. Not an unpleasant surprise, mind. A smile and polite dip of her chin had been granted towards Vanes, while her gaze wandered the faces of the rest, mentally tallying who she might have liked to have been paired with. Four seemed to be the number allotted to her group. A good number. Not so many as to stumble in each other's way—hopefully—but numerous enough to offer a variety of thoughts and perspectives.
Two of the girls were unfamiliar, and Evelynn offered a timely introduction to them with a, "How do you do? I'm Decipio. Evelynn Decipio," followed by her hand for shaking. To the third, she likewise offered her hand as well, but this time with a more familiar, "It seems we find ourselves grouped again, Collins. How lovely," in a tone threaded with warmth.
While she and Collins had really only truly met a couple of months back along the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade where they had been but smaller cogs in a larger group attempting—to no avail—to radically bring to light some sort of clandestine meeting, Evelynn had found she'd rather enjoyed the elder girl's company. The group of students bent on uncovering the strange happenings about the school seemed to be slowly growing. To Evelynn, Flash represented the cornerstone of that movement and she'd glimpsed those in his network when the lot of them had answered his summons for the hunt. If they were to work together again in future, however, it would do well to strengthen those bonds. That the two girls would be able to work together perhaps a touch more intimately this time seemed fateful in a way.
Without hesitation, Evelynn followed after the group into the tent and was surprised to see just how small it was on the interior. Perhaps she'd grown too accustomed to the way in which the cabins and other structures had been magicked to hold a volume that far outweighed the exterior expectation; but she was quite certain this was even smaller on the inside than what it ought to have been by muggle standards. What struck her next was just how cluttered it was. In a way that made her wand to fetch a lamp and hunker down in a corner to read herself away for the rest of the camp. What a lovely little nook…
Forcing her attention away from the plethora of stacked books of magical creatures, she circled in towards the table, craning her neck just as the others to take a read of the revealed scroll.
"I was thinking the same, yes," Evelynn remarked in response to Collins. "It seems an oddly disproportionate amount of space. If nothing else, it wouldn't hurt to see if there's a hidden message of some sort…"
To Bridget's answer to the first question, though, Evelynn's gaze snapped up to her, brow lofted. "Is it?" She filed that bit away, dropping her gaze back to the questions at hand. "I feel I should have known that… I'm in the Augurey cabin, but all I knew was that its cry heralds the coming of rainfall," she elaborated, passively acknowledging that bit of information she'd overheard Tan telling some of the others in the cabin on their first day's arrival. "Some seem to think its cry foretells death as well," she went on, "although that's been largely debunked."
Leaning forward and tapping a nail to the second question, Evelynn answered Bridget's call for 'any ideas?' with, "It's the Fwooper. Quite right with it being a bird. It's often imported from Africa. Actually, it's used to represent the runic value of 'four', and is—or was—the poster creature for the Protego Foundation. I saw it featured in a catalogue in the Magical Menagerie in Diagon Alley last year."
"I'm not sure on the third, though. Demiguise is one of the boy's gryffindor dorms… it's a shame none of them are here. Perhaps the books might tell us…" Pensive, she scanned some of the nearby tomes, but was ultimately drawn back to the scroll, curiosity flaring. "But first…" Her left hand dipped to retrieve the quill, marking in their two answers for the first and second questions before dropping to the inside seam of her boot, pulling her wand from a hidden sheath.
"Revelio".

When Lavinia was invited to a summer camp adventure, she leapt on the chance to leave her overly colorful cabin. Of course there was a little hesitation to go since the last invite she had, had led to a dangerous trip in the forbidden forest. This one didn’t seem to have any hidden meaning behind it and she hadn’t had much fun in a while so she decided to go. After arriving and learning the instructions, she was sorted into a group with three other girls. Bridget did seem pretty familiar from some of her classes and she could have sworn that she had seen Evelynn on the quidditch field before.
Once Bridget and Evelynn introduced themselves, Lavinia responding while shaking Evelynn’s hand. “I’m doing well, thank you for asking.” releasing her hand she looked towards the unknown girl and Evelynn speaking, “Hello, I’m Lavinia.” With that she followed the international girl into the tent that they had been assigned to.
The room that they entered was much smaller than Lavinia expected and it had a sort of cluttered feel to it. Before she went to figure out anything, she tried to take in every little detail of the room. There was a few bookcases and plenty of books stacked on the ground. A little lantern was swinging from the ceiling and two oil lamps lit up a scroll. While her other group members went for the scroll, she was mesmerized by the swinging lantern. It could be useful in the long run and there was never anything bad about being prepared. Grabbing the lantern from its swinging spot, she realized how small it was.
Lavinia was a little lost with the light but had heard snippets of the conversation that the others were having. Something about revelio and an Aurguey was said. Noticing that the two of them on the note seemed a little bit lost, Lavinia walked over there to try and see what she could do. They had already answered questions one and two but question three was still left. Surprisingly after reading it through a few times, Lavinia figured it out. “Don’t Demiguises see the future when their eyes turn blue?” she said thoughtfully.
Fairly certain that her answer was right, she took the quill and wrote down, Their eyes turn blue when they predict the future on the third line. Then Lavinia stepped aside to let Evelynn cast revelio on that abnormally large space beneath the questions.

As the four students would begin to get familiar with the room and the questions Rosella (@Logan Baird) would begin to look through some of the books in order to find herself an answer. As she would look for a book to give her the answers [d20:12] + 6 = 18 her finger would run over some of the dusty book covers, leaving some of the grime at the tip of her finger. But after a short amount of time she would soon uncover the famous "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" wedged between a stack of books rather close to the stool. The book had definitely seen better days and looked as if it had been read many times, as such the cover had thinned and the back of the book was broken in with the pages giving in where many fingers had flipped through them to get to their desired topic. All the answers where now at her hand and she would know them if she were to answer the questions, but her team seemed to have gotten ahead of her, as they began to fill in the paper.
In true teamwork fashion @Bridget Collins, @Evelynn Decipio and @Lavinia Cloven would began to discuss the different questions before Bridget would pick up the quill and after dipping it into the uncapped inkwell began to write in the answer for the first and second question; Augurey and Fwooper. Evelynn who was thinking a few steps ahead would take her wand and cast a spell.
ReducioAs she was casting the spell, Lavinia would put in the answer for the third question. She would finish right as Evelynn would hit the parchment with a well aimed Revelio. The parchment would now reveal the following hidden message.Evelynn casts Revelio on the paper

"Looks like you were right," Evelynn chimed to Collins, a satisfied smile creasing her lips as the parchment soon revealed the previously hidden message. Scanning the message, Evelynn's gaze darted briefly to the keyhole at the door before immediately beginning to sweep the tent's interior. "Rather the task they've set for us," she murmured...
"A key." They needed to find a key. Easier said than done, she surmised. With the stacks of books and plethora of content within the single room, there were hundreds of areas where the key could be hidden. Realistically, any one of the books could have been hollowed out to hide a single key. They could be there all day. Then again...
Reaching for one of the lanterns above, Evelynn unhooked it and took it to her right hand. Holding it aloft, she wove her way through the stacks of books towards the door. "Do you really think we need a key, though?" she wondered aloud, eyeing the keyhole critically. Perhaps its design could offer an idea of what sort of key they were looking for. "Unless it's been enchanted with some sort of anti-magic locking spell..." Most of her speech was simply thinking out loud. An attempt to keep communicatively involved with the others present, but it was largely rhetorical. Even if others responded to her, her wand would loft to point towards the keyhole as she uttered, "Alohomora."
From her experience, there was often more than one way to solve a problem. And this was, by far, the simplest and least time-consuming. Worth a shot?

Bridget accepted the extended handshake, excitement growing with it sounding like Evelynn felt the same way about working together again. She also noted the way the Gryffindor introduced herself with her last name first and addressed her as Collins. It appeared Evelynn preferred surnames, and she would respect that. "Indeed," she agreed. "We should have more success this time around."
They made short work of the questions, and all the extra details shared were appreciated. Much like she wasn't fond of Herbology, magical creatures didn't really pique her interest, but knowledge was power, right? She'd take as many useful tidbits as she could get. "Fwooper! Yes, that's it." The name clicked into place, the information she knew about the creature filling in with the help of Evelynn's description. Lavinia would provide the last answer, and while Bridget had never heard of Demiguises seeing the future as well as going invisible, she went with it.
Either because they'd answered all the questions correctly, fulfilling a sort of prerequisite to see the rest of the scroll, or by the works of Evelynn's well-cast Revelio, words appeared in the empty space. Evidently they were already moving on from the room, at least as soon as they unlocked the door. "I don't suppose you came across a key while looking through the books, did you?" she asked Rosella, though she already figured the answer was a no. There were an awful lot of places a key could be hidden...
They could look around, that was an obvious solution. Evelynn brought the attention to magic, deciding to attempt Alohomora. "It's worth trying." While Evelynn did that, perhaps she should try to secure the back-up plan. Maybe Accio was worth a shot? This was an event designed for those studious enough to work through the summer, so it would make sense it incorporated what they might have learned, from magical creatures to spells. There were counter spells that could make both Alohomora and Accio void, but still, it seemed worth trying.
She gathered her focus. The Summoning Charm would be more difficult without knowing the exact object and location, but in a room as small as this one, the latter shouldn't be much of a problem--she did know the general location, after all--and could bring to mind a generic image of a key, which would hopefully do. If she could summon a teammate's lost wand without knowing exactly where it went in a duel, this couldn't be impossible, barring an Anti-Theft Charm. "Accio key." At worst, this was a chance to test the limits of the spell so in a situation where it mattered more, she knew what to count on.
