Arrivederci
Date: July 7th
Time: 2:00 pm
Terrible Presence in effect.
| Aura of Unease Present |In hot July weather, dressed in all black with a heavy, black velvet cloak thrown over both shoulders, the former Astronomy Professor stood on the banks of the Great Lake, taking in the air which blew sweetly over its rugged surface. The last time he would set foot here in what he suspected to be a while was now upon him. He had sent in his two week's notice to Headmaster Lear that length of time ago by means of Macbeth, who was unbothered and sleeping on the professor's shoulder as if it were any other day. The creature had grown quite a bit in six months.
Admittedly, so had the Seer himself. His nature was not drastically changed, nor his habits, nor had his wardrobe. No, this was a bit of a quiet change. An outside environmental change. One which had been the reason for his departure on this day.
And, like all things which the Seer was prone to lay his best guesses and hypotheses upon-- as all of his harbinger tendencies rooted from-- it had been a vision. It was a vision he wasn't quite able to put into words. There were many parts of it which were blurry and fragmented; as if he were looking through a shattered mirror's fragments to piece the elusive puzzle together. But there was always a central theme; something breaking, something changing, something which was uncertain and unknown on the horizon.
Cartography had been next. A nervous habit of Leonardo's, admittedly, but always a frequent hobby and yet another needle on his compass to direct and order. Three cards had been drawn, three had been flipped; The Tower, the Empress in Reverse, and the Hierophant in Reverse.
All Major Arcana, signifying an environmental change. The Tower; destruction, change, a falling from grace perhaps. The Empress in Reverse; Stagnating home matters or financial pursuits, a change in home. The Hierophant in Reverse; a change in morals or a challenging of tradition. Out of curiosity, one more card was drawn... Justice; The law, balance, and seeker of truth.
These had been drawn a month and a half ago. Yet, the Seer remembered the four vividly, and only three weeks ago had drawn for himself again. The same four reared themselves upon the table. Something was coming. A change was upon Leonardo and his current life. A home affair.
If he had three guesses, his father was the first. No Emperor had been drawn, but betwixt the Seer's drawings and his visions which were growing more potent by sleep to the point of total insomnia and sleep paralysis even with the help of Dreamless Sleep was a certainty. Something needed to change. A storm was coming, a storm that Leonardo had to brace for.
His time teaching had come to a close. He had made little if any mark on the students. Perhaps they would be more comforted by the lack of darkness which tailed the Seer's footsteps and shadow. Maybe he had left a mark on some. He would not be the one to take credit for it, of course.
He never liked the Hogwarts Express. He never liked traveling in large groups of people. It was why he had entered the school from Hogsmeade near his home during the winter break. It was why he was now departing by a broom he had purchase hardly two fays prior. Yes, the Seer knew quite well how dangerous it could be for those with the third eye to attempt flight. But, it was a broom he was familiarized with a bit; the Nimbus 2000, a popular model during his years at Hogwarts. And besides, he had no reason to delay his arrival to the Chiadovini House in Venice by stopping at the British Station. His father would be startled at the least; the scorned son now returned to them after twenty long and tedious years rife with hatred and tension. Perhaps Guinevere would be pleasantly surprised to see her son in this new state.
Leonardo did not care.
He had sent letters to those who he had found himself unfortunately close to, those who were still at the school and those who had moved on just as he would.
To Kelsey
ReducioScotsman,
We never saw eye to eye. It is no secret I never liked you. I still do not like you. But Macbeth does, and I suppose that I have no choice but to endure you because of that. I learned from you, if in an unpleasant way, and perhaps you are right in one aspect: Life is for the Living, and there is only one chance you have to make good on it.
Do not let this go to your head. I know how little there is in there and I know it is tempting for you.
I still blame you for poisoning me.

To Robyn
ReducioMiss Finley,
Truth be told, the day I ventured into the library and almost partook in a duel with you over an accidental surprise was one of the brighter experiences to this date. I hope you are doing well and are in excellent health (as well as any books you own yourself).
Books for us are gateways, portals to the unknown and wonderful... But there comes a time to see the world for what she is. I have failed in doing so, jaded and corrupt in my ambition for understanding the writings of men and not their flesh and blood.
If ever you desire a quiet place with Muggle literature at your disposal, I would be honored to meet with you again. While I am tangled in affairs now, I would be grateful for your company when things are still; if it is not too presumptuous of me.
Humbly,
~ Leonardo Chiadovini
To Zoë
ReducioMiss Fresnel,
We have not cordially met, but I am the former Astronomy Professor. While we never spoke on personal terms, for some unknown reason you made an unmistakable impression in my mind. A joie de vivre as you would say in your tongue, I am sure.
I bid you good luck. Being of new blood can be difficult in this school. Yet, some good may come of it, and do continue to enforce your... creative detentions. I have hard stories of them. They are quite amusing from what I have heard.
Sincerely,
~ Leonardo Chiadovini
To Marcus
ReducioMister Iwasaki,
You are a puzzle to me, but I am fond of puzzles. You guard the fledgling eagles well, and for that I give you great credit. There is something in you that I do not possess, something which makes me believe that you are far more of a man than I. I have read the muggle tales of chivalry and duty, the loyalties and the flaws they must avoid. You strike me as one of them (assuredly a very positive thing).
Thank you for that company on that unfortunate Valentine's night. It was pleasant indeed. Keep your fledglings safe.
Until or if we meet again,
~ Leonardo Chiadovini
To Atticus
ReducioMister Wade,
Though you are far from Texas, I observe that you have adjusted well. I offer a tidbit of advice; do not take Brumby's brews. That man is trouble.
But this is my experience with him. Perhaps you will find the Scotsman more amusing than I. Good luck with your teaching, do not let the upstarts throw you, and I challenge you to another game of Blackjack when the time comes. 'Tis a dirty trick to take advantage of a man who is intoxicated.
~ Leonardo Chiadovini
Trouble. Trouble was brewing. Something that the Seer always predicted to others, now upon his own head. But what other tale was new? This was a story he had read often, rehearsed, even.
Leonardo often wished as a young boy hidden in his upstairs room that his father would leave the picture altogether. Many times the boy thought that maybe an accident would occur to make those fantasies come true. Now that the boy was an adult, simply ignoring the father had become good enough for him. Undermine the system subtly. Live to die upon another, more important hill.
Well, there was one less thing to lay on the Seer's mind now. One twisted wish of his had finally been granted after all this time. It had simply taken over three decades to come to full effect.
Ricardo Benvolio Chiadovini, husband of Guinevere and father of Leonardo Ricardo Chiadovini, was dead.
Foul play was suspect.
It seemed that the youngest and one of the sole heirs to the Chiadovini tree-- who possessed both capability and motive-- had taken his leave just in time.Arrivederci.Reducio@Kelsey Brumby, @Robyn Finley, @Zoë Fresnel, @Marcus Iwasaki & @Atticus Wade
