my mid-youth crisis all said and done
invitation posted last day of schoolTo the Headliner staff,
Thank you all again for another excellent year on the Headliner team. It's been a long, exhausting year, and I know you are all ready to leave school and relax for the summer. That being said, all of you (yes, boys too) are invited to my manor this summer for a sleepover, starting July 1st. You will find an address attached to the back of this note. Let me know prior if you will be joining us by means of special transportation. This sleepover is not required, though highly encouraged.
See you there,
A.S.Alexx had hung the note up in the Headliner office the morning of the last day of school, where they were all sure to see it. Admittedly, Alexx did not know most of her team well, and that part she regretted. She had never meant to separate herself so far from the entire team, though it appeared that she wasn't as connected with the younger students in general the way she might have hoped.inviting: @Koko Riddle @Anastasia Beckett @Ami Procoppio @Scarlett Aden @Pericles Dralt @Phaedra Stavrou @Cecily Quinn @Rose Moon @Evelynn Decipio @Willow Anderson @Dealla Prince @Delilah Stewart @Aurora Ranvier @Ruby Cazares @Scott Alexander @Quinn Healy @Thomas Lestrange @Akari Kato @Eyre Reeves @Rebekah Morton
This might solve her problems.
She had sent a letter home to Mikael two weeks before school let out, asking permission to host a slumber party at the manor. Naturally, Mikael agreed. He was good like that, especially to Alexx. The classic older brother who would bend at her every whim. Maybe Alexx shouldn't take advantage of this so much, but it was just so much more fun that way.
She had thrown slumber parties before, hosting one for those in her year. The night had been fun, though Alexx admitted she wasn't the best host back then. This time, though, she could try once more. Maybe it would be easier, what with these being co-workers.
The mansion was multiple stories, each room large and warm. Alexx's room had a fireplace in it, and while it probably wasn't the most homely to someone of Alexx's age, one whom was almost 15, it would do for now. She had a large bed, plenty of guest rooms, and the muggle invention called the "air mattress" scattered for those who opted not to sleep on a bed.
When her guests would arrive, Alexx would give them the grand tour, and then take them upstairs to her room. She had settled on scattering everyone out between two rooms; her room, the one they'd spend the most time in, and then the room connected to it, which you could move in between through the conjoined bathroom.
Not that Alexx really knew what "normal" children liked, because she was a bit snobbish and sheltered (despite what her upbringing might say about her, she was rather inexperienced with people as a whole), but she'd done her best to decorate with what she could. It wasn't exactly movie-esque, she was not giving off Regina George vibes right now, but anything to make the once dust-ridden manor more inviting and enticing would do the truck.
All that was left now was to wait.
chill babe. we're all bad in someone's story.

INTERACTIONS @Alexx Séverin
It had been a rather last minute invitation, this Headliner excursion. Notice had been given but the morning of their last day at the castle and Evelynn had had to send notice home with Janus with a letter to her mother imploring her permission to attend. There was hardly even enough time to receive a response, really, with the amount of time that her own had needed to fly there and back. In fact, it hadn't been until towards the end of the train ride back to King's Cross that she had received reply by means of a clearly exasperated, but determined, owl rapping upon the window of whatever compartment she had been sitting in at the time.
Naturally, there had been a brief reproach for lack of advanced notice, which had thankfully been followed by a swill of understanding given the circumstance; and upon arrival at the station, her mother had, nonetheless, been there waiting, ready to take whatever luggage wasn't necessary for the retreat back home and to provide a few measures of comfort, a hug, and supervision to see Evelynn safely into the waiting care of those that would escort the attendees away.
Now, after a gut-twisting journey that clearly must have bent the fabric of space (and possibly time), Evelynn found herself dwarfed in the shadow of an enormous manor. The sensation had crept on gradually on approach. Hogwarts was one thing. It was a castle. One that housed a plethora of children and had been founded centuries back upon the solid basis of delivering quality education to aspiring witches and wizards. Grandiose architecture came with the territory, as it ofttimes seemed to with similar scholarly structures. Plus the size was necessary to house the classrooms, dorms, and eating halls filled by the multitude of hungry minds. Its size, while impressive, had never bothered Evelynn. Rather, it had only served to fuel her curiosity, drive for adventure and thirst for knowledge.
This, however... this was different. As far as she understood it, this was a single family residence whose magnitude rivalled that of wealthy noble families or yore. It was these sorts of homesteads that had sprung to mind when Evelynn had trekked her first steps towards the Hogwarts castle listening to warnings of pureblood families and class disparity. Standing there at the threshold of so impressively lavish a home, she felt a sudden and very real insignificance. Severin, being her supervisor of sorts and star quidditch player, had never had to try to earn Evelynn's respect. Her demeaner and status as upperclassman and editor in chief had carved that out instantly; and the perceived size of the gap between them had been enough to prevent Evelynn from attempting to get to know her.
Even still, there hadn't really been any negative feeling harboured against her. But now, insecurity coiled itself uncomfortably around the very fabric of the editor's being, constricting and contracting to tear holes where intimidation was all too happy to seep through. Gazing upon the structure that so blatantly reminded Evelynn that she was a newcomer to a world with its own set of rules, she subconsciously kept a low profile.
Of course, she in spite of her uncertainty she did not forget her manners, which—perhaps now more than ever—could always ease a difficult social situation; and offered Severin a polite smile, saying, "Thank you for the invitation, Miss Séverin. It's an honour to be welcomed to stay a night at your home."

Del was invited to a sleepover? I mean, yeah sure it was a whole team thing, but still. People don't invite del to things, especially not in the summer it's so hard for her to get places from her home in the wee village in the highlands, with her granny being a muggle and unable to drive in her old age. It was only a year and a bit before Del could get her license, but that wasn't important, what was important to Del as she looked at this notice on the wall was that she was invited to something for once.
Immediately she almost ran to the owlery to inform her Granny, with the school being not too far from her village, it shouldn't take the owls more than 3 or 4 hours to get to her Granny, but of course, she didn't think about how long it takes her Granny to write anything now. Eventually getting a response as she left the train at London. Of course, the owl had to fly further on the way back to her since she was now at the other end of the UK, but that's just the way the Hogwarts Express worked.
Her Grannys scribble-like handwriting said something about being safe and making sure she gets home tomorrow on time. Of course to have a nice time as well. Thankfully Delilah didn't have many belongings with her as she kept most of her things either at home or at Hogwarts where possible, saves the back and forth. She just had one small trunk, but she would have to take it with her on the sleepover since she couldn't take it home. On a normal year, she would spend the night on another train from King's Cross to Inverness by herself, and then get picked up from there and be driven home by a family friend. Her Granny wasn't well enough anymore to see her off or pick her up. Instead, they just had a nice little celebration to themselves when she got home.
She had gotten changed into a nice summery outfit, her hair being held back by a colourful scarf and tied behind her neck. Arriving at the manor, she just looked up at it in awe. Her wee 3 bedroom cottage that she lived in with her Granny was nothing in comparison to this. She had known Alexx for years at this point, even though they never overly talked. Del knew she was a bit posh, but everybody was posh to Del, her highlander accent growing weaker every year she spends with these "high class" people. Needless to say, a lot of them weren't high class at all, but she counted them as posh because they couldn't understand her when she spoke scots, so she always spoke proper English at Hogwarts.
Looking up at a giant building always made Del feel small, it happened every year at Hogwarts, every day if she thought about it too hard, waiting in London for the train made her feel small. Although she was about 4'10...she was small, especially since she would be turning 16 at Christmas time. But hey, genetics right? The amount of times she got the classic 'Did you hear somebody say something?' or having somebodies elbow leaned on her head was actually astounding, not even counting the sheer mass of times that people have mistaken her for a new firstie.
Shaking her head to try and clear out these worries, she stepped up to the building, surprisingly being one of the first ones there. "Hey guys!" She said, the mix of true excitement and fake happiness to cover up the anxious thoughts that had just been eating at her mind. She immediately noticed that she was being a lot more informal than Evelynn had been. "Uh, aye, thanks for inviting us Alexx, I'm really excited to be here." She adjusted the scarf she was using as a headband as it felt like it was slipping.
