Such a shame for poor Vale Ashwood that she would now be away from her parents for possibly the very first time in her life. She's going to miss the wooden floors that creaks and bends just slightly every time she ran around the grand mansion. The dust that gently flows from every movement the home dwellers would make. Why, Vale will especially miss the coffins her father had gotten on sale by a funeral director who was running out of business. One for each living family member. All in their sizes too, left against the side of their loomingly large staircase to the upper floors of their home.
Vale remember the complex curiousity and confusion on her father's face when he told the whole family the story as to how he came to acquire them.
"The guy was in shambles, saying how bad business was getting now with how peaceful the years have been. Say its been the most quiet he ever experienced! Was selling coffins for cheap, so I bought a good deal. Because the guy been a kind fellow, I asked if he wanted to get in contact with a serial killer. He'll have a body by each week depending on the pay! Gave me a strange look as I left, and now the muggles have handsome shots of me on building walls. You think that's their way of getting a network out there?"
She'll miss her family during her first year at the large, castle-like structure that became to be known as Hogwarts throughout its years of existence. Her parents promised to give her letters each week, with each one having a small fragment of a bone in it.
"Bone fragments of what?" "That's for you to guess! Might even be human. You should tell us an answer when you figure it out."
There was Vale now, with her baggages and luggages to take with her far away from home. There she stood, watching her family home for what may be the last time she sees in for a short while. Her own parents standing beside her as they watch with her. "Our daughter is growing up, Mildew! Look at her getting ready to become a horrible monster to all who witness her." "I'm sure the professors will enjoy the day they release her back into the wildness! I remember my school years back in America. I had a teacher immediately quit once she saw I was in her class on the first day."
The young girl could only smile as her father tell one of many stories involving himself. The day he got his first pet, to the day he met her mother. And their honeymoon being in the town of Salem. Her mother was apparently disappointed, for there were no more witch burnings now as there used to be. She always wanted a turn at the stake.
And now once more, they were to watch as their second child goes through schooling as well. Aunt Burgle was at the steering wheel of the car. A black hearse with its curtains closed. Aunt Burgle even asked Vale if she wanted a ride in the coffin. Vale proposed maybe next time.
Just as Vale moved into the black, metal box for a car, she looked back to her parents. They waved to her with a smile, but Vale didn't smile back. This feeling, prehaps it was the first time she felt grief. Like being at a funeral, but the person in the coffin woke up maybe? Or watching a horrible accident ended up avoided? Whatever this feeling was, Vale didn't like it. It was going to be one of the many things she will grow to dislike as she becomes a certified witch in the wizarding world.
