Finally a clue that wasn't immediately answered. Great pride was taken at the notion of the words well this one has me stumped. It was no secret to Evelynn that the further into this little endeavour she had gotten with her writing, the more practiced and sophisticated they had become. This next clue had been one of the later ones that she'd written and her chest swelled with a bit of an ego boost at making her upperclassman have to puzzle this one out with a bit more effort than the last few. Especially at the mention of the lake.

She'd hoped they might get a touch misdirected to that area. The great expanse, the reflection of the sky, the way that people occasionally peered into its depths as though trying to glean a hint of their future or to study their reflection. Even the enigmatic presence of the merpeople in its depths might have offered some explanation to a few of the lines. But alas, this detour would only last so long before Jangleton's countenance shed confusion for confidence and she was struck with the revelation that her initial thoughts had been a ruse.

Astronomy tower indeed. The vast expanse of the night sky served as an excellent canvas against which specks of golden stars glittered uninhibited by the light pollution that plagued more populated muggle cities. You could read the future from those heavens, tell time, and even gain insight into personality through Astrology—if that was to be believed. They were certainly on the right track, and their notions would be rewarded on arrival with the presence of the fourth clue in their chain of riddles. Opening the envelope, the card would read:
Team #3 — Clue #4
An action when something is pulled with great force.
The object with holly we seasonally deck
The lesser of two such will now guide your course
For the clue to the end, it's there you must check

How does the game work?
We spent a lot of time to create individual paths for every team. The goal of every team is to reach the final location and the team that gets there first wins. But as simply looking who posts there first would hardly be fair, we have thought of another way to determine, which team was the quickest (I will come to that in a second). I will supply every team with one clue at a time. Once you solved it, I will give you the next. You might find that some are easier than others, but I have given some difficult clues to every team, I don't doubt that there will be struggles at a certain point. In that case, you may ask for hints. For the sake of fairness, the Slytherins will have to ask Evelynn, the Gryffindors have to ask Opeila.
We will post a new thread for every single clue. Once those threads are up, you will have to post 700 words- as a team, multiple people together or one single person, I don't care- that include the solution of the riddle. The solution of the riddle is not always a location. You'll need to tell us the solution to the riddle we gave you- just saying a location that could as well be a good guess is not enough.

How is the time calculated?
We only count the time that you guys needed to figure out the riddle. The time between you solving one clue and us giving you the next, as well as the time between you asking for a hint and us replying will be substracted. Differences in timezones or a busy afternoon of a mod are not supposed to be the reason for a team to lose. But to motivate you to try your best with the clue before you ask us for hints, there is a penalty. For every hint you ask for, there will be 12 hours added to your total time as well as another 200 words to write after we give you the hint.

Also please write into every post what team you are in and your wordcount. Otherwise the calculations may take longer than necessary.

Enjoy and good luck!

So far, their little adventures had taken them to a classroom, the dueling club and the Astronomy tower. If anything, it had left them zig-zagging all over the place and the brunette had to admit, she was failing to see a pattern here. Perhaps there was some sort of common trend between these riddles that would hint at what the final reward was but if there was, she had yet to see what it was. The group was well on it's way to the tower, a class that Elena while she didn't loathe it and thought she did rather well in, it wasn't a topic that the brunette thought she could see herself doing in the future. How did people think starting at random shiny things in the sky and pointing out how they were different was a good way to pass the time? To Elena, stars were stars and planets were planets, aside from that, she didn't want to know anything more and the girl was perfectly alright with that.

"Hope we don't get caught up here." She would murmur to the other two, the concern settled at the back of her head. Surely, the organizers would have cleared that with the professor otherwise they would have a very lengthy explanation to give why three students were skulking around the Astronomy Tower searching for their next mysterious letter wherever it might be. As long as it wasn't attached to the inside of a telescope or something, Elena reckoned they might be fine and as far she could tell, the tower seemed barren so far as they neared their destination. Her eyes began scanning for the familiar enevlope they had become so accustomed to seeing that would hold their next clue disguised in the jumble of words that they would have to pick out to make some sense out of.

Soon enough, she stumbled upon the next enevlope triumphantly pulling out the slip passing it around for everyone to see. "Oh, this is gonna be a toughie." Elena mumbled re-reading the lines inside her head. If the last one had been a doozy, this was three times harder as her eyebrows came together deep in thought and concentration. Holly, right, so maybe this one was Christmas-themed or something of the sorts though to be fair that was a very vague description as she jabbed her finger at the line. "Okay, so holly is a sort of holiday decoration so maybe it's talking about something Christmas-like?" As if on cue, the brunette tilited her head to look around for anything of the sort, maybe some candy canes or a santa hat, nothing. It had been worth a shot before.

Think, Elena, Think.

"Wait.." She started slowly her gaze slowly settling on the second line of words. A few words stood out to her as she looked at the others eagerly and back to the parchment. Hailing from an English family, Elena was no stranger to most holiday traditions and this was one of those moments though she couldn't say the same for the others. "The object we seasonally deck.." She repeated before nodding. "You guys familiar with that holiday carol, Deck The Halls?" It was one of the more common ones and one the brunette had heard a multitude of times and she would sing a few lines for her partners so they would at least get some sense of what she was talking about and not think she had completely lost her marbles. "Deck the halls with boughs of holly, 'tis the season to be jolly."

If anything, they had gained a few answers from this. It was referring to the song and more importantly, they had stumbled upon their location. The halls though the question was which one? There were quite a lot of halls and that was when perhaps the third line in question came in handy. "The lesser of two so it has to be the Small Hall! It's talking about the two halls in the carol and the riddle says the lesser of the two halls here!" The third-year insisted though it could be that she was totally wrong. To be fair, it was a riddle that perhaps was not easy to poke apart at first glance as you really had to look between the lines but in her mind, it made perfect sense as she glanced at Everly and Tory to see if they echoed her thoughts.
