Nicole Phoenix Morales | First Year | Hufflepuff

A Brief Introduction
Nicole Phoenix Morales was born on the 9th of February 2010, in Lumban, Laguna, Philippines. She was adopted by a muggle/wizard family, Michael and Samantha Hartley - Samantha being a muggle-born witch. The two had made the decision to adopt and fell in love with a three year old Nicole. Though Michael was not a wizard, he was made aware of the wizarding world through his relationship with Samantha. Although they originally intended to start their new life out in the Philippines, they ultimately moved to Gowerton in Wales and then later on moved to the Wye Valley in Herefordshire.

Early Years
She never remembered much about her birth country, but her mother had always provided her with information in regards to her culture and heritage, including ensuring that the girl could learn the language of Tagalog. This all occurred when the family first moved to Wales and continued forward ever since. Nicole was jittery about the new surroundings from a young age, she wasn’t used to the drastic change in climate nor the sprawling Welsh scenery. Much to her parents dismay, Nicole found it very challenging to settle down into her new home.

One thing was for certain, her parents have always been honest and kind with her. Both Michael and Samantha had always been open about Nicole’s origins, nonetheless, she was very grateful for everything she had. When she turned 7 years old, the family moved to Herefordshire on the English border. She was ever the curious child and still is to this day but there was some rebelliousness to her at times. 

Nicole had a passion for drawing, following after her mother, but was ever so inquisitive and curious, especially upon catching both of her parents' worried whispers regarding her. Though she never really had a chance to question them on it, whenever she would take up an opportunity to find out more it was often taken away via minor and major distractions. She enjoyed reading, especially with her father, it was an activity for the pair of them to do together and spend time with each other.

First Magical Encounter
Nicole was only 9 when she had her first instance with magic. She became rebellious and in the midst of an argument with her parents she stormed off into her room. Funnily enough the reason why she was in trouble was because of the state of her bedroom. It was a pigsty. 

She found the bitter feelings of anger and disappointment welling up inside of her. She always despised arguing with her parents. A few water droplets had landed on her arm before burying her flushed face into her sweater, tears cascading down her cheeks. She glanced up to see raindrops falling from the ceiling, leaking out the cracks and crevices in the walls. Panicked, the young girl let out a loud cry, causing her parents to come rushing into her room.

As her father tried to calm down Nicole, her mother could barely keep her excitement in check. At long last the truth was revealed, their little daughter was a witch after all.
