Could anyone really be certain that Evelynn wasn't a genius mastermind? At the start of the game, the third team had given off some arguably questionable auras. There was tension to be sure. What exactly that tension had stemmed from, Evelynn wasn't certain, but she had filed that away to potentially follow up on at a later date. Whatever it was, clearly it hadn't been anything that would entirely preclude them from working together. As was quickly proved, they girls could put aside their differences at least for as long as it took to decipher a clue and run to the next area.
With every successive clue, however, that strain seemed to dissipate. If just a tiny bit each time. In fact, as they separated from putting their heads together on the second clue, Everly even seemed excited. Would the trend continue? Would the girls find common ground and work towards mending their unstable relationship throughout the progress of this game? Or would something happen to sew discord anew? Evelynn was keen to find out and hurried after them as they made their way to the duelling club area where they'd correctly assumed the next clue to be. There, pinned to the doorway, they would find an envelope in which a card read :Team #3 — Clue #3To study the expanse of a great vast black sea
Yields knowledge of time and compatibility.
To some, the future it may even hold
Hidden amongst the flecks of sparkling gold.
OOC InformationReducioHow does the game work?
We spent a lot of time to create individual paths for every team. The goal of every team is to reach the final location and the team that gets there first wins. But as simply looking who posts there first would hardly be fair, we have thought of another way to determine, which team was the quickest (I will come to that in a second). I will supply every team with one clue at a time. Once you solved it, I will give you the next. You might find that some are easier than others, but I have given some difficult clues to every team, I don't doubt that there will be struggles at a certain point. In that case, you may ask for hints. For the sake of fairness, the Slytherins will have to ask Evelynn, the Gryffindors have to ask Opeila.
We will post a new thread for every single clue. Once those threads are up, you will have to post 700 words- as a team, multiple people together or one single person, I don't care- that include the solution of the riddle. The solution of the riddle is not always a location. You'll need to tell us the solution to the riddle we gave you- just saying a location that could as well be a good guess is not enough.
How is the time calculated?
We only count the time that you guys needed to figure out the riddle. The time between you solving one clue and us giving you the next, as well as the time between you asking for a hint and us replying will be substracted. Differences in timezones or a busy afternoon of a mod are not supposed to be the reason for a team to lose. But to motivate you to try your best with the clue before you ask us for hints, there is a penalty. For every hint you ask for, there will be 12 hours added to your total time as well as another 200 words to write after we give you the hint.
Also please write into every post what team you are in and your wordcount. Otherwise the calculations may take longer than necessary.
Enjoy and good luck!

Elena was surprised really. So far, they were having either an immense stroke of luck or they just had a knack for riddles that hadn't been present before but so far, they were well on their way on navigating this little hunt despite the potential disagreements they might have with one another. Maybe it was the just the eagerness, the curiosity of what lay at the end of this series of riddles, the brunette was getting more and more confident with each riddle they solved hoping that their postive streak would be maintained. They were already well on track, the last thing they needed was to get double-tracked or stumped by a jumble of words as the trio navigated the various winding halls and corridors of the castle down to where the duelling area was. It had to be that, she was sure of it, there was no other place in this school where you could pull out your wand without getting yelled at by a professor.
Personally, Elena herself had never set sight on this particular area so she was keen to see how this would turn out. Well, that was if they actually got to enter the room in it's entirety, so far, their hunt had consisted of finding missives pinned to doors and she had to wonder how long it took for the organizers to set all of that up. Running around the castle, pinning random pieces of parchments to classroom doors and whatnot, it painted a very entertaining scene in her head to say the least as Elena smirked as they rounded a corner. For the most part, converstation on her side was kept to a bare minium or otherwise, Elena would have been a chatterbox as they went about solving these things but not today. One wrong word, one wrong thing and the Gryffindor was sure she and Everly would be at it again and after such a successful streak, the girl had no wish of revisiting their personal affairs nor airing their drama in front of a third party.
"Bingo."
The third-year nodded to the door they had stumbled upon and just like the others, a slip was fastened to the door waiting for the girls to retrieve and put their minds up to the task. What would it be this time? Fingers crossed, she broke the seal on the envelope letting the card settle in her palm holding it out for all of them to feast their eyes on, the lines scribbled in neat ink and from it, one thing was clear. This was going to require some thinking, it was not as obvious as the dueling one as an aura of silence settled. There were many options but none of them seemed that meritious if you asked Elena as she repeated the lines over and over in her head. "Great, vast, black sea.."
Sparkling gold flecks? Was it talking about a Snitch? "Okay, this one has me stumped." The Gryffindor confessed making sure she wasn't reading it wrong. It seemed like the more they progressed, the more diffcult the poems were going to get. That only made her shudder at what the next one had in store for them if they ever made it that far which at the moment was not happening as far as she could tell. "Sea? So like a body of water? The Great Lake, maybe?" Elena inquired geniunely confused but immeditely regrettinig it as soon as she said it. That didn't fit with the other lines, studying, time and knowledge, how did you come about all that in a lake?
Letting out a thoughtful hum, her eyes flicked back to the first line reading it for what seemed like an hundredth time before her pupils widened. "Wait..black sea..black." Black, like the night sky and to study the night sky..there was only one such class that took place at such a hour. "The Astronomy classroom..the flecks refer to the stars and it's the only class that takes place at that time." The girl herself had never really harbored an interest for studying the stars and whatnot but if it meant they were one step closer to the finish line, she didn't mind paying the Astronomy tower a visit this time of day.
