André Alarie
Important note!
Andre has a tendency to lie to everyone. You can ask him questions but never expect for somebody outside of that social circle to have received the same answer. Meaning if you would like to learn more about my character ooc, do not use any of the threads he's in to do it. Reach out to me or peak at his ency. He usually lies about his blood status and birthday(main things to look out for), though he never will shy away from other topics.

------------
André, the name really stood out to Colette Alarie. And so it was chosen for her first and only son. After nine long months of pregnancy, her son was born[DOB: August 6th 2008]. She adored him, the way he smiled, it lit up a room, the way his little fingers curled around hers, the peaceful face he had when he was sleeping. It was wondrous, the joy of new little life in yours. It gave Collette a purpose a new drive she had never had before, she wanted to be not only better for herself, but for her son; she knew the little guy needed her.
Mon loulou [My little one] She'd call him, mon trésor [My treasure] she'd say.
The father to this little boy who gave his mother's life something more was none other than Abelino Bonheur. Not much was known about the strange man, and all those who knew him thought of him as odd. Nobody had much idea really what his relation to Colette was, just that he wasn't the fatherly type considering he left only three days after the child's birth, and his last name was nowhere to be found on the certificate of birth. Leaving the mother in disarray with only a picture of him holding the small child the day he was born.
Only two years later came the loss of Colette Alarie. Though she didn't take the same road as Abelino, her end was an unfortunate one, adding to losses of a child who already could not process what the first one with his father walking out on him meant. The tragedy gossipy townsfolk would whisper of as he passed by. The night before the second birthday of André, his mother died. He was much too young to understand the effects of this loss, and would only years later take in the full impact of what it had meant.
------------
By the age of three, it seemed that luck had found him. After spending a whole year in need of a family one came his way the Descamps, lovely folks they were, it's saddening they weren't able to have children of their own. Until André came along, he was perfect to them, the exact child they were looking for and he was in need of a home. André was shy back then, shy, sweet, and innocent. Well, apparently it sells. The second Mrs. Descamps saw André, she knew the boy was meant to be part of their family, and so he was.
And just as fate had it, this was when the Descamps were about to give up hope for ever having a child. It was also awfully convenient he looked a lot like the two, so they didn't have people questioning them about it all the time. Upon adopting André, the couple had to make the choice of what to leave for the boy's legal name. They wanted him to feel apart of the family, but didn't want to separate him from his past, so they made the choice to leave his legal last name as Alarie, leaving him as André Alarie, as the couple adjusted to having the child in daily life they realized his name was actually quite fitting for him..
------------[ Accidental Magic ]
The boy was brave, by six the boy had managed to both amaze and scare his parents, getting multiple calls by the school about him climbing up the tallest tree at recess and them not being able to get him down, or rather just didn't want to take the time too. He'd walk along the thick branches of it, distracted by nature's beauty, so much so that once the small child fell from the tree. Nobody seemed to know what to do, no sudden movements were made, and it seemed as if it were the end for this child, but as if it was magic the child bounced on the ground creating a safe landing as it took all the impact, as if he had springs on his feet.
Nobody knew what happened that day, but they all decided they better not question it, and so it became a case of just 'pure luck' that they hadn't lost the child to him falling off a tree.
------------
At the age of eight, it seems the boy's luck had all but run out.
There was an 'unfortunate accident' phrased the blonde lady who'd come to pick him up from school that night. The boy was curious but kept quiet as he was led to the car. From there he was told his parents had 'gone to a better place' but just the same he was all just as much confused. It only hit the child when he was brought to his home to grab a few things, and his parents weren't there.
Within the next week he was placed in a foster home till they tried to work out what to do with him. The first few weeks there the boy cried enough tears to fill a bathtub, it was different from when he was two and had little to no memory of his mother, [Truth be told be still didn't understand the reality that he'd been adopted in the first place] but now all he knew was that he'd lost his mom and dad, the people he'd grown up with, the ones who comforted him, made him feel safe, made him feel like the luckiest kid in the world for even having them as parents. Even when he got made at his mom and dad from time to time he still loved them, and it was heartbreaking for him.
------------
The day André turned ten was the day he went to his sixth foster home, they were always moving him around. He never stayed in a place long enough to get to know people. Caretakers said were fed up with the child! He rarely talked, and when he did, it was only sarcasm that came out of the boy's mouth. He kept getting himself into fights and always seemed to be mad. And there was nothing anyone could do about it. For some reason the boy was obviously doing this on purpose as well, it seemed he enjoyed to upset his foster parents, another oddity to add to the list... The only place he really put effort into what he was doing was his schoolwork, the only thing he deemed as important. His plan was that when he turned eighteen, he'd leave this town, figure out things for himself, get a good job, and just get away. Everything was fueled by the pain he was feeling, it all had hit him now and he wanted to make something worthwhile of himself. He wanted to make himself someone he could be proud of, someone any parent would be proud of, someone his father who left him could be proud of. Maybe then he'd come back. Maybe then he'd want André.
------------
When André was eleven and a half he had one thing on his mind. Maybe magic could've somehow stopped the death of his parents, maybe it could've made his biological dad want to stay, maybe it could've gotten rid of all the bad luck in his life. And now he was mad, mad at the wizarding community, mad at the new foster home they placed him into[all full of witches and wizards] he was conveniently put into upon his eleventh birthday, and most of all he was mad at the world, how dare it be against him, how dare it turn on him in such a way that left him so alone! How dare it do this to him! Why was it always against him?
And so now here he was controlling the only things he could in his life because he couldn't control much else. He controlled his studies, he'd study as much as he could and when it came time for tests every once in a while in between his perfect grades he'd mess up on purpose, to just make sure he still had control. Same thing with his 'friends', all people who either scared others away from André so he wouldn't have to deal with actual bullies or people who were just gullible and desperate for friends so desperate they'd do anything, but of course there were the real treasures besides these two types of people, his real friends, people he shared interests with, but always seemed to leave him. Why, you ask? André had no such a clue, he thought he was a great friend. This obsession of being controlling didn't stop at that, of course it didn't, André would take the time to count certain things as he walked the hall or be a little late to classes on purpose, and it only would get worse from there. Above all the friendships and studies and being controlling in general André had a main goal, and it stayed the same. He was going to make his biological father proud of him somehow and he was going to come back to André, and when he finally did André felt he'd actually feel at home, after all his father was the only one he could trust in this crazy world.
All this was in his mind, planned in a way so deliberately that no one would notice. After all, he had to keep up that 'rich kid' suave guy look. Because of course he didn't need another reason to be an outcast here.

────────────────────────────────────The whole character rant, personality, primary goals and motivations, and inside the mind of André
André had always been the reflective type. From a young age he preferred to observe the world around him. He liked to watch people, he liked to know what made a person tick. It started off innocently enough, founded off of curiosity. Research in the pursuit of knowledge. Due to his background he was never able to properly form and keep attachments. He sought other ways to cope with the unpredictability of his life, and his relationships.
André was put into situations where he learned how to quickly adapt to environments, social spheres. He's learned to mask his abnormalities, his quirks. One of his ways of coping with the unstability his life brought him was him knowing how to adapt quickly, fit into certain groups, cliques, whichever one offered him the most protection, security.
André mirrors people's, energy, their expressions, reactions, even at time their emotions. It can have him come off as the easy-going person who gets along with everybody. Until different types of people are around him. He can switch from acting one way one minute to completely different the next. The way he acts can come off very two-faced.
Those who have seen his actions in the past, experienced his two-facedness may find the tactics he uses to fit in and cope as manipulative. They wouldn't be wrong. There is an argument to be made in the fact that he doesn't often consider the emotions of people, how they might react or feel, the affects his actions may have on others. A lot of this due to him relying on his two-facedness, it had to become second nature. However, there's no saving grace when he realized what he was doing, final taking the time to acknowledge it.
His two facedness gets brought on to the next segment. André and his ambitiousness. He will do anything to achieve his goals, he doesn't care how many people he has to cross. He would lie, cheat, steal, and backstab anybody as long as he gets there in the end. (of course his ambitiousness could be put to good use...)
In the inner-workings of André's mind, his primary goal is to achieve something impressive enough to win the love of his father over. To make the foreign figure that disappeared from his life before it could ever begin; to reappear. André never liked fantasies, but this was the one he let his mind feed into. The hope that one day he'd so something incredible enough to win his father over.
When André isn't confined to a space the defines him and how he reacts, his mirroring. He is often quite different from the André most people would know. It's what normal people would call his "true personality." Quiet, and analytical... Strict schedules, discussed properly plotted out plans. Every action he makes is carefully thought out. In that state of mind always waiting for the moment to switch off the "using this persona to waste time André" to his mirroring.
He doesn't see this part of himself as his own. It's when his mask comes off and he is faced with the blank slate of a person with no expectations, no predefined personality. It feels like a lifeless canvas, and he prefers to believe the personas and personalities he takes on are him, just at different moments and periods in his life. Close to a child going through a phase, except... Much faster.
Perhaps he has a chance to change, perhaps he's a scared and lost child hidden deep within, waiting for the right influence to make an impact and change everything. Or perhaps you too have fallen for one of his acts...
Over the years André has gained a certain obsessiveness over the control of every minute detail within his life. It helps him trick himself into disbelief of instability in his life. He will do things without reason just to make sure he has the control over situations. Such as leading a person on when befriending them, only the purposely and rather cruelly abandon and reject them. He also does this with his work. A perfectionist focused on high-marks, in a strange twist of fate he purposely fails himself on certain assignments to do his control check.
It provides him with a sense of security and has bled into certain other habits. Eleven is his lucky number, he may count the bricks on a wall as he passes by a place, counting his steps, a thing that will happen casually, more often if he feels uneasy or unstable. He has to do these things, he won't let himself not, it he doesn't do those things, he can't feel right, he can't feel better. If the number of his steps, bricks on a wall, cracks in the concrete cannot be put into sets of eleven he is disheveled and distraught. He practically ends the day right there, deciding nothing good can come of it.
Words that could be used to describe André:
Ambitious, formal, charismatic, punctual, meticulous, organized, observant, systematic,Insensitive, analytical, two-faced, quiet, reflective, adaptable, manipulative, cynical, Inconsiderate,
