Although the last of the groups to vacate the common room, team one certainly wasn't that far behind. What was more, they held a certain vigour for team spirit with Aden leading the charge and suggesting they collaborate to come up with a name of sorts. That effort to work together only seemed to go so far, however, as she quickly rushed from the portal, simply hoping that her team would follow in due haste. There was a certain level of entertainment to be had with it all, really. Hand out a few riddles, suggest the notion that there was a prize to be obtained at the end of the chain, and dangle the promise of victory and the ability to lord it over Slytherin and suddenly Evelynn had a good number of her peers scurrying around the school in search of notes left by her hands. It was enough to draw forth the hint of a smile.

Like the rest, Aden had arrived to the correct answer fairly quickly. Perhaps it wasn't such a terrible thing to have the first clues on the easier side. Draw them in, provide a quick boost of confidence, and sit back to see how well they could carry that momentum forward. Skirting at a distance to their party, Evelynn hastened after them as they made it to the library, cracking the entrance just in time to see them arrive at a large tome stationed at the centre of an otherwise empty table front and centre ahead of the doorway. Although closed, it beckoned them to investigate. The title was as dry as its contents promised to be, the index outlining a series of historical events surrounding the trials and struggles of various minority groups of magical beings, such as hags, centaur, goblins, among others.

What was important, however, was that an envelope seemed to have been slotted between the pages, poking out just enough to be barely noticeable. Pulling the card from the page outlining Veela discrimination and opening the envelop to reveal the riddle within would read but two words:

How does the game work?
We spent a lot of time to create individual paths for every team. The goal of every team is to reach the final location and the team that gets there first wins. But as simply looking who posts there first would hardly be fair, we have thought of another way to determine, which team was the quickest (I will come to that in a second). I will supply every team with one clue at a time. Once you solved it, I will give you the next. You might find that some are easier than others, but I have given some difficult clues to every team, I don't doubt that there will be struggles at a certain point. In that case, you may ask for hints. For the sake of fairness, the Slytherins will have to ask Evelynn, the Gryffindors have to ask Opeila.
We will post a new thread for every single clue. Once those threads are up, you will have to post 700 words- as a team, multiple people together or one single person, I don't care- that include the solution of the riddle. The solution of the riddle is not always a location. You'll need to tell us the solution to the riddle we gave you- just saying a location that could as well be a good guess is not enough.

How is the time calculated?
We only count the time that you guys needed to figure out the riddle. The time between you solving one clue and us giving you the next, as well as the time between you asking for a hint and us replying will be substracted. Differences in timezones or a busy afternoon of a mod are not supposed to be the reason for a team to lose. But to motivate you to try your best with the clue before you ask us for hints, there is a penalty. For every hint you ask for, there will be 12 hours added to your total time as well as another 200 words to write after we give you the hint.

Also please write into every post what team you are in and your wordcount. Otherwise the calculations may take longer than necessary.

Enjoy and good luck!

Piérre was trotting along slowly after the group. He had lagged behind quite a bit, his mind not quite woken up yet. He was not especially good at figuring out clues. That was something witty and intelligent. Those were two traits the Britalian was not. Maybe thatbhad been the reason whybhe had been of little to no help to his team on the previous clue. He was just not smart enough to think through things rationally and calmly. He was just here to provide entertainment and lighten the tension. Make everyone feel good if they felt discouraged.

Still, he followed loyally to the library, where sure enough their next clue was being held. In the library, in a book, on a piece of parchment. A very clever Scarlett had guided them there and now they were onto their clue. A but slow, but you knew what they say about the tortoise and the hare.

The hare always wins unless the tortoise gets there first. That was the saying, right?

Only two words were on the parchment. "Muggiest Duels". Didn't really make much sense now, did it?

Piérre scratched Figaro under the bengal's chin where the boy knew his cat liked it. Both boy and cat had closed their eyes. The boy was thinking. A rare sight, so the teammates of thr Lava Lions would have the honor of witnessing such an odd event.

Naturally, the Dueling Club was the first suggestion brought up, followed swiftly by Care of Magical Creatures. It made sense, the former, considering that the word 'duels' was in the clue. At first glance, Piérre was reafy to accept it too. But why muggiest? That was an odd word, a little too out and out of place...

Until... Unless.

Muggiest... An odd word to use.

"It's an anagram." His green eyes flashed open as he looked at the letters again. He grabbed a quill out of his satchel and wrote on his forearm the words. “An anagram is a word or phrase that when rearranged creates another word or phrase. In this case, I think this phrase spells another location. Excuse me_” Holding back a yawn (yes, he had just woken up and was still tired), he traced lines and arrows to a lower spot on his arm. Each letter corralated to a line drawn below. Mugg remained in the same spot, but the other letters were flipped around and rearranged to the boy's liking. Figaro only watched with lazy, half-opened eyes, tail flipping back and forth around his owner's shoulders.

Piérre made a few mistakes, resulting in him scribbling out and crossing off letters to fill in new ones distracting himself on accident and sketching little flowers and trees, but eventually he remembered what he was doing and finished his guess. When the boy was finished, the words "Muggle Studies" was written in all capitalization. Was this thr correct location which housed their next clue and was one step closer to the Lava Lion victory?

“Muggiest seemed like a funny word to put right before 'duels'. That's why I thought maybe there was more to it. Otherwise, yeah, I think that the dueling club would be a great place to look next. I guess conspiracy theorozing comes in handy, huh?” Well, that was how paranoia helped anyways. You never could be too sure that what you were seeing was the truth. Challenge everything until facts have been presented.

He looked at his other teammates. “I'm.. I'm not... I'm not being stupid here, am I? Does this look right to you guys as well?” Piérre focused on the Figaro stole around his neck again, aiming to distract himself if he had indeed been wrong and had just embarrased himself. Everything was lined up in his mind perfectly to his own rationale... Maybe he was just overthinking.

He had a nasty habit of doing that.

Feeling a bitngot, the lad continued, stammering a little more. He was the only guy in a group of girls... He had the right to be nervous, okay? “I-I mean, if I'm wrong, ignore me. I don't want to drag us down on account of my hyper silliness.” He wrung his hands. He was, as a matter of fact, very confident of his answer... But his logic may have been a bit of a leap... And now he had ink all over his forearm.

On the plus side, he also had some cool art on them as well.
