Personal History:
Alys Evans (unrelated to the famous Lily Potter née Evans) was born in Milford Haven, Wales to the daughter of a fisherman and his witch of a wife. Quite literally in this case. David Evans had been born and raised in the town of Milford Haven his entire life. His father was a fisherman, his grandfather was a fisherman, his great-grandfather was a fisherman, etc. etc. He was destined to be a fisherman. At the age of 20, with his father’s passing, he took over the family business of fishing. It was then that he met Liz Meyer.
Liz Meyer was born to a Wizarding Family in Northern England. Her family was nothing special. She was nothing special. While considered moderately attractive, she shied away from the attention of her suitors at Hogwarts. She was unsatisfied with her life. Thus, after graduating from Hogwarts, she left to travel Britain. At the age of 21 she met David Evans. By 23, she was known as Liz Evans, and 24 she had given birth to Alys, in memory of her grandmother Alice, who had passed away while Liz was pregnant. While David knows of Liz’s secret, the two of them agreed upon her opening up and maintaining a restaurant, where she serves fish caught by her husband amongst other items. The restaurant’s name is the Magical Fisherman
It was in this household that Alys grew up in. Her mother and father were loving and caring and had enough money to make sure Alys would have a comfortable, though not extravagant lifestyle. Knowing that she would be going to Hogwarts, Alys has spent most of her life studying for the non-magical world. Her parents agreed that if she was to have any choice in how she wanted to live life, she would have to know how to succeed without magic. As such she comes into Hogwarts with a basic understanding of magic (mostly from what her mother has told her) but knowing full well that she will be learning the magical art soon.
Her mother and father merely wish that she doesn’t get too lost in it all.
Personality:
Alys is a highly sociable young girl. She can be a bit of a chatter box and tries to put a positive spin on everything. Her favourite activities are gardening, animals, and cooking, though she has some years to go before she is at the level of her mother. She is also a physical person, loving hugging, being outdoors, and exercise (though it should be noted that the exercise she does is more of a run laps and do sit ups for gym class exercise). While sports are not her favoured activity she loves burning the energy and also the physical contact that certain activities provide her. Though many of the adults and children in her neighbourhood call her a ‘tomboy’ her mother has told Alys that there is nothing wrong with her choice of activities. So Alys has ignored the negative connotations of the word and has just been herself. This knowledge of who she is now has given her confidence in facing the world.
Having grown up in a fishing family, she is also a bit obsessed with aquatic life. Every time she sees a body of water she wonders what is living in it. While in coastal Wales that wasn’t much of a problem, her mother has warned her many times about the Giant Squid in the Lake, and how no matter what Alys thinks, the Squid doesn’t need human friends. Her mother is still worried that Alys will ignore that bit of advice. She just hopes her daughter will return home safe (and without a pet Giant Squid).
Alys is a smart kid, but like some children at the young age of eleven, she doesn’t apply herself fully to her education. She’d rather be outside than sitting in a classroom listening. Ironically enough, she loves books, and will spend hours trying to finish any book she comes into contact with. She also loves re-enacting her favourite scenes from books. While she is not naïve enough to believe the good guys always win, and the bad guys lose, she has taken to enjoying fairy tales. And in her words, she wants to be little Red Riding Hood when she grows up, though with the childish addendum of little Red Riding Hood with a wand, who becomes best friends with the big bad wolf, rides dolphins, and lives in peace with all the animals.
Physical Appearance:
Alys is strong for her age, though short and skinny. While she has begun to develop muscles from her physical lifestyle, she still has a long way to go in terms of development. Her red hair and green eyes are her most prominent features, and she has been told by her extended family she is a cross between her trim lanky father and her stocky mother looked like at their age. While she seems to have been given her father’s metabolism and hunger for activity, she was given her mother’s short figure. Still, she has many years left to grow, and she is convinced she will outgrow her father.
When out of the school uniform, she can be seen wearing trousers and flannel shirts. She also has a red cape and hood her mother sewed her after Alys had proudly stated she wanted to be Red Riding Hood, though she does not wear it often only donning it when she misses home.
