@Haley Rose as Nate Smirnow
To whom this may concern,

I have sent this owl out with the instructions to find a student around my age. I am, rather regrettably, in only my first year at Hogwarts. However, graduation is steadily approaching and I have decided to send you a letter because I have heard that Koldovstoretz students will be attending Hogwarts this year for the Blossom Ball. It is my intention to expand my communications and acquaintances, so should this letter find you whole and well, consider this my formal request to begin conversation and relation, even if it is by owl.

My name is Anja Murtaja. You may have heard my name spoken of with disgust, but I do not accept that my father's actions — however horrible — make the rest of our family full of bigots and Dark Wizards. Aside from that rather depressing clarification, you should know that I am a Slytherin (if that bothers you, feel free to throw this letter into the fire and never contact me), a November Scorpio (if this matters. I'm not sure why people make such a fuss about zodiacs.), and a few of my favourite pastimes include people-watching, reading and learning about wandlore. Not only do I enjoy wizarding literature, I also like reading muggle fantasy and analysing their interpretations of what little magic things they have seen (fae, for instance — muggles are not too far off when it comes to them, so perhaps we as a community should do more to conceal our fellow creatures). I love grammar, and I will fight you over the Oxford comma.

I am an advocate for rights for all sentient creatures. This includes goblins, veela, centaurs, and the one for which I will argue the most passionately against, dhampirs. Recently, there have been a series of events a Hogwarts, which I view as extremely shocking, aimed against dhampirs. Attacks and riots and the like. People think that dhampirs shouldn't be allowed to attend Hogwarts, but honestly, they're not all bad.

After so much I've told you, I hope you shall reply in the same suit.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Anja,

maybe you're happy to hear, maybe not - I've never heard your name before. And even if I knew anything about your families, you are not necessarily them- Quite simply, no prejudices. But now about me, my name is Nate Smirnov and got your letter. I'm originally from America. My father is Russian and went to Koldovstoretz and he wanted my brother and I to do the same.

We are all very excited about your school, do you like it there? What you said doesn't sound very welcome but I don't want to judge it. Anyway, I'm in my first year too and with the help of my brother I managed to get into the Quidditch team. Do you play Quidditch as well? Apart from Quidditch I used to do a lot of boxing, while that is unfortunately no longer possible in the club, I still try to continue training regularly with my brother.

Zodiac signs don't really interest me either, but star constellations do, but probably only so much that I could tell you the most famous ones. By the way, I don't care if you are in Slytherin or not. There are two other houses at Hogwarts, aren't there? Does it all have a deeper meaning? Also, I really don't care what you or anyone else is. In our family tolrenaz and acceptance is very important and I'm more than happy about that. So Hogwarts students: let the Dhampirs be Dhampirs!

I hope to read from you again.

Dear Nate,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Don't worry, Hogwarts is mostly nice, but we do have the occasional mauling or. I don't play quidditch myself — I find it interesting to watch a good game, however. Analysing the tactics makes for a quick passing of time. Boxing sounds fun, but I've never seen a match before. I enjoy fencing (I'm thinking of setting up a fencing club — what do you think?) and archery, but physical sports aren't really my thing. What position do you play in Quidditch? I personally think that the Seeker position is far too overrated (take offence if you must).

I appreciate your neutrality when it comes to superficial things like house and astrology. There are three other houses at Hogwarts — Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor (I like to call them rednecks). I suppose being a Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad, but heaven forbid I ended up as a Gryffindor! There isn't much of a deeper meaning behind them, but Slytherins are normally cunning and ambitious, Ravenclaws intelligent and creative, Hufflepuffs loyal and well-spoken, and Gryffindors reckless and often silly. Which house would you like to be in?

What do you think about the Blossom Ball? Are you going to participate? I haven't yet got a date — I should probably get onto that. Have you thought about anyone you'd like to go with? I haven't really thought about it yet.

I look forward to your next letter,

Dear Anja,

To be honest I can't wait to see your school, it's nice to get out and see something new. I am very excited and hope to meet some familiar faces from Ilvermorny as well. I love quidditch, the first time I played it was at home on a broom, whereas here we fly on trees - sounds crazy, I guess it is a bit. I play as a beater and even though I shouldn't bash other positions, I can understand your point about the seeker. Maybe you can watch a fight of mine sometime, or I can teach you something. I know that physical strength and violence is not appreciated among wizards, but in my opinion it is far too undervalued. It's always good to be able to defend yourself with a fist.

I see you're not a fan of Gryffindor and don't get me wrong, I don't want to insinuate anything but I hardly think the official description is "reckless and often silly". Difficult question, I think I'd have to look into it more. Often silly could fit, but I would probably make my first enemy at Hogwarts. What house do you think I would fit into?

I've heard of it, I'm not much of a dancer and it sounds like a compulsive event, but it will certainly be nice I guess. I think I'll go, I also think it's expected of us. I had thought about going with a girl from my school - just as friends - but since we're kind of there to socialise as well, I'm not quite sure. In the meantime, have you got a date yet?

I look forward to reading from you again,

Nate Smirnow
