Determination

This past year has been a difficult one, the long, ceaseless, tedious days would soon come to a close. At least for this academic year. Gryffindor has been undefeated for the 2021 school year. In their match against Ravenclaw, Gryffindor won 20 to 180. In their match against Slytherin, Gryffindor won 200 to 110, earning them a total of 350 points for the school year. They had a solid lead on the other two houses and the 2020-2021 cup would be nearly assured if they are able to defeat Hufflepuff.Date: Sunday May 2, 2021
Hufflepuff has also had a strong year. Coming off from a year where they were fully undefeated and defeated Durmstrang in the interschool tournament, Hufflepuff almost did the same two years in a row. They won their first game against Ravenclaw but suffered their first defeat in two years at the hands of Slytherin 170 to 50. Hufflepuff has earned 230 points for the school year and still have a good shot at taking home to cup if they defeat Gryffindor with p[articular attention to the quaffles in this coming match.
After the upset of yesterdays game [outcome unknown, refer to adjacent thread], the crowd came to the pitch excited -- this would be the game that would determine everything!
This game would serve as the deciding factor regarding what team would move onto the summer matches. There were obvious favorites but there was also the viable possibility that an extreme upset would change the course of anticipated matches. That said, the stadium was abuzz with excitement. Several students held hand-made signs declaring their favored house. Many of the students wore their house colors as a statement of pride. The weather was good, temperate. One of the warmest days of the school year. The sky was slightly overcast, leaving a blanket of grey over the heavens and a cool northern breeze ran through the pitch.Gryffindor Points to date: 350

Howard left the locker room with determination set upon his face. This was it. His very first match as a starter! Although the Keeper position was one he would always be fond of, turning down a chance to start was just something he could not do. So, after Hufflepuffs defeat to Slytherin Howard had shifted gears and put all of his efforts into practicing for the Chaser position. Only time would tell if it would pay off for the Badgers. With a strong kick he would launch himself in the air and attempt to keep the nerves at bay with a practice lap. Just breath and focus. He told himself as he awaited the starting whistle.

The Gryffindor could hardly believe that the end of the Quidditch season was already upon her. Quite honestly, the year had been a whirlwind, and not in an entirely good way. Still, Quidditch had been one constant source of happiness and fun, and she was determined to finish the season strong. She entered the pitch, blonde hair in her usual Dutch braids, and mentally readied herself to kick all kinds of Hufflepuff butt.
Long story short, I survived

Ami had awoken the morning of the match against Gryffindor with a knot in her stomach and a lingering taste of fear in her mouth. She'd been nervous the past two matches, of course, but it was nothing compared to what she was feeling today.
The few hours before the match actually started were all a blur. Even as Ami paced around the Hufflepuff locker room, uncharacteristically quiet, she couldn't recall if she'd eaten anything for breakfast, if Amadea had wished her good luck, if she'd done her pre-match ritual of thwacking Cecily in the back of the head with a bagel. All she could feel was panic. They had to win this match. They just had to. Hufflepuff's loss against Slytherin was... embarrassing. Humbling. Disappointing. Even on a normal day, Ami's drive to win was slightly intimidating, perhaps making her seem more intense than she actually was. Now, with a cold and steely set to her angular face, she looked like she was ready to commit murder.
In stark contrast to Slytherin's team, Ami had a lot of connections to the Gryffindor team. Evelynn was one of her closest friends at Hogwarts, and the two had flown and practiced together quite often throughout the school year. The topic of their match against one another had never really been breached, but Ami was legitimately frightened of the Gryffindor seeker and co-captain. The other captain, Rafael D'Spacito, was also a familiar face to the redhead, and she had always considered them to be on relatively friendly terms. And of course, her sister from another mister, Anastasia Beckett, would be on the pitch as well. Ami knew that Quidditch was really important to Ana, being one of the few constants in the heiress' life now that much of it was in turmoil. But Quidditch was also important to Ami, and winning? Well... let's just say, she made even the Slytherins look apathetic about victory.
Her left hand was clenched tightly around the handle of her Nimbus, and her right kept her trusty bat slung across her shoulders. As the team walked out onto the pitch, she would glance around at her teammates, trying to think of a pep talk, or something encouraging to tell them. "We're badgers," she said finally, meeting each and every teammate's eyes with a determined nod. "Which means we don't go down without a fight. Gryffindor ain't got nothin' on us, ya hear? Let's play smart, play hard, and win this thing."
She would glance around at her fellow second-string players, and fell into step alongside former Chaser and currently Prefect @Annie Morgan. "I know I already told you this at practice," Ami said as the two took a seat together on the bench, "But I'm seriously glad you're back on the team. We missed you lots." Gently leaning her broom and bat against the bench, to the side, she added, "How d'you reckon Howard's gonna do, as Chaser?"

Good ol' reliable. Or in this case, Quidditch. But was it really reliable? After leaving she didn't think she would come back- or even if she was allowed to. @Quinn Healy the captain and also resident part-time giant of their team took pity and found some room in his big heart to let the sad looking excuse of a girl- known to some as Annie Morgan back on the team. Of course she wasn't a first-string nor could she be useful in any position but much less if she was thrown on a broom and given two thumbs up and a "Don't die" from her teammates. Nope, instead she had a change of roles and now was a second-string keeper. Her and the bench were going to become good buddies for this game she assumed, and deep down hoped. She would never forgive herself is she had to take Atlas's spot due to an injury or something and then miss every single shot.
The girl shivered at the thought as she waited silently in the locker rooms. Finally, they were dismissed to head out on the field. Annie sucked in a deep breath of air, the wind brushing stray strands of her hair around her face. Sure she had been nervous before when she could actually see, but these nerves were 10 times as advanced not to mention she hadn't been on a broom since before Christmas break. The brunette let out her breath she had been holding.
She turned her head slightly as she felt someone else's Quidditch robes brush by her own uniform. Maintaining her startled feeling and keeping a semi-content face she identified the person as soon as they spoke. @Ami Procoppio, a fellow former and now current team-mate sat besides her on the bench. Annie remembered she was a second-string beater but couldn't recall seeing her in action so much. Her energy and friendliness was so strong it was a funny picture trying to imagine her slamming a bludger at an opponent with such great fierceness. After a moment she was brought back to reality. "Thanks.. it's good to be back." The brunette responded, letting her broom lay against the bench, touching her knee slightly. "I think he'll do good, I wish I-" Her voice travelled off but she quickly resumed her thought, clearing her throat. "I'm sure we'll do good. I expect a verbal play by play from you whether you want to or not, better you than the announcer or whomever they got to do that job this time." She joked, a small smile slipping onto her face. Her brows etched together slightly worried.

The Gryffindor almost couldn't sleep last night. Every time when something important going to happen the next day, her heart would always pound non-stop due to excitement. Who wouldn't be excited? The end of the Quidditch season was finally near, and the lions were up against the badgers who were last year undefeated champions. They had powerful and fearsome Beaters and Seekers with extremely high luck to catch the golden snitch than any other House teams. Griseldis had always admired the Hufflepuff's determination on the Quidditch field when they were against the Durmstrang. But this time, it should be their turn to show them the lions' determination!Interacting with @Scarlett Aden
It wasn't easy to come this far, so they had to continue to try their best in this game. Once she finished wearing her Quiddtich uniform, she picked up her broom and walked towards to find her Beater partner. "Scarlett, are you ready to face the Hufflepuffs together? Even though they lost against the Slytherins, but they still have very strong and talented players on their team, especially their Beaters.", Griseldis decided it would be perhaps better to tell her partner to be careful about the Hufflepuff Beaters. However, it wasn't like they had to be too cautious, as long as they could work together as a team it would be fine in the end, and she trusted Scarlett. "Well, no matter how the game will turn out let's do our best and show them what we got!" She gave Scarlett her most confident smile before going out on the field then high up in the air on her Silver Arrow.

Aaron was quiet as the Hufflepuff team headed onto the Quidditch pitch for their final match of the season. Things had been weird for the thirteen-year-old lately. Since their defeat against Slytherin, the young boy had, of course, continued training with the team, but- it just didn't feel the same. There had been roster changes, as often happened between games, and there had even been the return of a familiar face to a different role - but there was something off. Maybe it was the way he was struggling to keep up with schoolwork. Maybe it was the fact that he and his best friend hadn't been talking much lately. Maybe it was the fact that he hadn't been able to prove his skill as a Chaser last game. And there were so many other things swirling around in his head.
As Aaron mounted his broom, he knew his head and heart weren't in today's game. While he would do his best to follow his Captains' leads and get the Quaffle through the hoops, he was struggling to focus. Maybe once the referee blew the whistle, his head would be in the game. But as he flew into position, the cheers of the crowds and the sight of his teammates didn't encourage him like they normally did. His heart was pounding anxiously instead, and he didn't understand why.

Gryffindor TeamLast game of the season, last game to make a point. The First string Keeper with a current 0% block rate at the rings was just getting finished armoring up. And let me tell you, Keeper armor was tough. Piérre swore that every time he put that stuff on, he weighed at least ten pounds more than when he started. But there was very good reason for that. Quaffles needed to be blocked at any given chance, and bludgers weren’t exactly pleasant company to a skinny kid who hardly broke a hundred pounds.
But despite that, Piérre had been practicing. He had been doing endurance training and he had been trying to work on hefting that Quaffle. Slipperyness would only get him so far. It was important to be well-rounded in addition to excelling in one area of expertise.
Hufflepuff would be the largest challenge yet. Two fourth years... both of them formidable. Everyone on the badger team looked buff and strong, and way tougher than Piérre. He was a bit of a joke, a tiny electron on a broom compared to them. But regardless, he was giving it his all. They had had great games thus far. They would make a heck of a show for the audience today.
Showmanship. That was sometimes the most important thing. Charisma. Baffle your opponents with faux confidence and bravado. These were qualities that the boy tended to possess in aces.
“A’right! Let’s show these guys what we’re made of guys!” Piérre nodded to his team before breaking and taking his position by the Keeper’s rings. Whatever tactic was to be engaged, he was there, ready to perform, the little sprite, impish and usually quite lucky.

Ever since their last match, Stanley had been dreading going up against Gryffindor. He had started in the mirror many times telling himself that it is very unlikely that he would need to go out onto the pitch. Ethan was perfectly capable of keeping himself on his broom. New people had joined the team while some others had left. It was normal obviously however Stan could not get out of his mind that one of them had been in the field last time and hit quite a few times. Sucking in a few breaths of air, the boy sat on the bench and fiddled with his fingers.
"I'm sure everything will be fine." He mumbled to himself moving his hand up to remove hair from his eyes before trailing upwards towards the players. Stanley could hear his heart going faster and faster with every second. His knee bounced up and down rapidly while he hoped that over the course of the summer he could learn to get his nerves down. The hufflepuff knew the Quidditch season was coming to an end he only hoped that it would be on a high note.

The year was coming to a close and while it seemed a little overwhelming for Atlas with assignments, studying for exams, and extensive Quidditch practice she always found her mind cleared while on the pitch. She had a passion and a drive for the game and with her testing the waters as an honorary chaser last game she had tried to strengthen those skills by practicing a multitude of plays and strategies.
It had been a heart-breaking defeat against Slytherin for their last game as they had fought tooth and nail and narrowly missed the victory but even the best teams had their slip-ups and she quickly shook off the game focusing on their current competitor. Gryffindor was a force to not sleep on but Atlas had faith that the unbreakable bond and mind-melding of her team would secure the win and put them back on track to hopefully play the summer game.
Kicking off the ground, Atlas pulled up on her broom and joined her teammates as they flew around the pitch thankful that the weather for today’s match was far more accommodating than their last one. The sky was clear and there was a gentle breeze dancing throughout the stadium. Nodding to Ethen, Atlas pulled away from her team and made her way to the goalposts. Twisting her hands around her broom, Atlas pulled her goggles up on top of her head as she looked out towards the stands, an energetic smile pulling on her cheeks as she waited for the match to begin.
