Calypso sat down on one of the stumps she and Suzanne had arranged in a loose circle
a few hours before. The last meeting of the club had been in an empty classroom on the second floor of the castle, but it was such a nice day they had decided to host this one in the outdoor club area instead. Speaking of Annie, she had taken over Ashley's old place as co-leader of the club, and while Cal missed her now-Beauxbatons-bound Ravenclaw friend, she knew that Annie was as passionate about creative writing as anyone, and would do a great job.

Earlier, when they'd set up the stumps, Cal and Annie had brought a few snacks, a jug of water, and a stack of paper cups and placed them on one of the larger stumps in the circle. There was a jar of pencils, too, and Cal hoped the club members would remember their notebooks from the last meeting as she's instructed. But of course, she had some spare lined paper in the messenger bag at her feet just in case. The young girl was nothing if not prepared.

While she waited, she took out her notebook, plucked the pencil from her ponytail and began to generate some rhymes. Stars, ours, Mars, cars, bars..... chars? Is that a word? Like maybe if you charred something in a fire, as a present-tense verb.... Her mind continued on like this for some time, until she was snapped back to reality by the sound of approaching footsteps.

Katrina’s choice to actually join a club was one that took a fair deal of reasoning to follow through with. It was a spur of the moment idea, why not get something new to do to fill her time? Besides, it was just writing after all, something that she knew she could improve on between her letters to helping Liam write his stories. But the act of having to put aside more dueling practice or studying to walk down to participate in the event turned out harder than she expected.

First, just as Katrina was about to head down to be early, she remembered that she had a Potions essay due the next day. Then as she set that aside promising herself to do it later, a couple students walked up and Katrina overheard them talking about the traincrash with some incorrect information. Instead of correcting them, like she so wanted to, Katrina instead continued walking. Then Boomerang came up all muddy and with matted fur. Katrina groaned and dipped into the girls washroom to rinse the very reluctant Boomerang off before continuing. Katrina got outside then she realized that her shoes had a hole in the top just enough to where her big toe just shown through. Instead of going back and changing shoes as she so wanted, Katrina forced herself to continue to the meeting without stopping.

Katrina had thankfully remembered to grab her journal and a couple pens, figuring that if nothing else, that would probably work for the club meeting. She wasn’t really sure what to expect with it all though. Katrina was a member of the S.W.A.G. club for some time now, but had only been to two events. Then she’d made her own club the SHC. But even then, Katrina had no clue what a club meeting without an active event going on was like.

Katrina approached a ring of stumps in the ground, one of which with a girl with dark brown hair sitting atop it. She seemed lost in thought, but perked up when Katrina neared. “This is the WORD meeting, right? Writers of something something? I just didn’t know since there, well, isn’t anyone else here,” Katrina inwardly cringed at her words, couldn’t she have just said something savvy?

Suzuki had just started to head back to the dorms to finish up her homework (ugh) when she'd remembered that thing about the W.O.R.D. club. She had stretched her neck back to stare at the ceiling.
Then she'd turned around, made her way through the staircase, and headed out to the grounds.

A girl wielding a metal case entered the small area. She was tired. Very tired.
And her nose wouldn't stop running. Hence the nasal strip, though that didn't seem to help much with the running- only the breathing.

It was a pretty decent day- the puffy clouds were the right size, and the sky was a brilliant blue. The colours around Suzuki seemed to magnify, emitting both radiance and sounds.
The sounds. Like any other day, there were a lot- but the sounds today seemed brighter. Lighter.

Approaching a small gathering of logs, she spotted two girls already there. Calyspo Starling, the organizer of the club, and some other girl. Guess I'm early, then.
Entering the halo of logs, she sat down on one, the metal case full of homework and junk sliding out of her hand, landing with a thump on the ground, and then another thump as it fell to lean on the side of the log.

Shuffling around in the case, Suzuki came up with a quill and a small leather notebook. The notebook wasn't hers. She found that out immediately as she flipped to the middle. There were diagrams of baseball diamonds, football fields, baseball bats, baseball helmets, and more. This wasn't hers.
Suzuki jammed the notebook back in the case, searched around some more, and came up with a second leather notebook. Flipping it open, she found diagrams of pulleys, Muggle automobiles, brooms, and warplanes. Okay.

She found an empty page, and wrote a little, thinking about the magnificent colours and descriptions around her. She thought about the quotes she'd read from books, and scribbled a small something down before looking up expectantly at Calypso.

Everything just is until it isn't.
