Oh, you really just...  Solo   Finished
“Run into the wall.” Her mother stated with an assured expression. It was like a color coded blur; One day she was harvesting herbs and watering the garden, the next, shopping for magical supplies on a list given to them by a shady hobgoblin in a trench coat. She had been told about Hogwarts while growing up, both her parents were former students and all three older siblings were attending currently. The rumors, proven facts, she’d even done her own research into the school for Witchcraft and Wizardry. All in all it seemed like a whimsical place to be- but she’d always had a wild imagination, so the girl’s hopes were already galaxies away. Considering they already had to run straight through a brick wall, for a magical train to take her to a prestigious Wizard School, was already right up Novasandra’s alley.

“So, I really jus have to run through the bricks? There’s no trick to it letting me’in? What if it doesn’t take me Mum? Didn’t Slytherin have the most servants to- Is it really as wonderful as they say?” A curious and sassy green eyed girl stood before Mrs. Cindrell. Her stance was brave and with that little chin tilted to look up, she met her daughters gaze with a warm and prying stare.

“Novasandra, are you nervous?”

It was an easy question to answer. There was an obvious answer here, and all she had to do was say ‘yes’. This was everything she’d ever wanted. There were dragons here, House competitions, there was magic here, living plants, Goblins and so much more. Hogwarts was the key to unlocking her potential and giving life to a new way of living, but, what if it wasn’t? What if she’d built up such high expectations that they were shattered by the rejection of that wall.

The two of them were in the middle of a train station and though there was chatter and multiple noises echoing about, all Nova heard was the words she didn’t say. “...”

With a very animated pout, Dahlia took one knee in front of her child so that the mossy green length of her skirt tucked beneath her knees. They were just about level now, Nova slightly taller in this position with her eyes anxiously staring into her mother’s. “Super Nova Novasandra, is that fear I see twinkling in those pretty green eyes?”

“!” The worried crease in her expression must have faded, because in that instant Novas lips had parted as she took on the features of someone utterly appalled. “Oh, my mistake! I was just making sure my Super Nova wasn’t drowning in doubt.” There was an exchanged look of understanding in that instance. “I’m going to be a Gryffindor you know, or maybe even a Hufflepuff.” -“Well, my love, nobody ever joined anything if they didn’t take the first step through the doors.” Dahlia nodding her ashen blonde head towards the stone wall.

Nova knew she was right, and she was a brave and adventurous soul, this moment of pause was just but a falter. After all, this was going to be the last time she got to see her mum for a while, it was a hesitating moment. Had her father not had to keep the shop up and running, he too would have been present, making their goodbye only slightly tougher. “I’m ready.”- “Alright, now make sure to write as often as you can.. Oh! Don’t forget to focus hard in your potions class, and brush your hair every morning.. Oh, and most important Nova..” Dahlia leaned in now, close enough that the tips of their noses were touching. The smell of peppermint and vanilla filled the girls nostrils as she breathed in.-“ this is a spectacular opportunity and you are to have the best time.”

With her heart full and cheeks flushed from the display, Nova, a little embarrassed, but appreciative, wrapped her arms to her mother’s shoulders. “I love you Mummy, I’ll write as often as I can!”

“I love you, too.”

They held each other in a loving hug for a few moments before letting each other go. It had been about fifteen minutes now, and she had watched a few different students take themselves, trolly first, through the bricks. ‘This is it! This is it! I’m really going to go this time!’

“Alright mum, I’m going, bye!”

With her mind made up, the eleven year old girl held firmly to her trolly’s handle and she, in the abrupt readiness, pushed firmly. There wasn’t a solid ounce of fear lingering anymore in her young soul. She’d given her goodbyes, had the support, and now she was going to school! It didn’t matter if Hogwarts didn’t meet her wild expectations, or ridiculous imagination. It was going to be wonderful in itself. As Nova had bursted forth into her bumpy and rumbling run, she collided! Head on into battle she went! There was a loud screech of her cart as she had smacked, right into another cart!

“Oh! Oh I’m so sorry! I was tr-“ With a wide eyed blink and her held trolly at a full stop, she’d made it through and the sound and collision was simply her luggage collapsing from the front as she had not fastened it properly. Oops.. but.. what a way to make an entrance.

“Hello littl’ miss! Ready to be boarding now?”

Finally.. that earlier word that needed to come out made it’s first appearance. “Yes.” Yes, she was finally ready to begin her first year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry.
