Henry stepped foot in the library with a purpose. The teen have been eyeing the restricted section for a while wondering if the information that he required was hidden away in the forbidden section.
Henry already knew that he would be asking his best friend; Logan Baird to accompany him one night into the restricted section since there wasn't anyone else whom the teen trusted more when breaking a rule or having his back than Logan.
However the teen still needed a plan, something set in stone that can ensure he can sneak in, get what he needed from the section, and then get out without getting caught or getting detention. It sounded simple but it was actually quite complicated to accomplish each task when one is actually doing it.
Normally the teen would be in the library reading or hanging out with friends, having been there daily but that day he was eyeing the restricted section and figuring out a plan for the night.
The teen wore his mum's old ravenclaw scarf and a simple sweater along with a pair of jeans and his wand that sat in his back pocket. As the teen walked past a few rows before deciding to turn down one and take a book on dueling spells and jinxes before turning and walking back toward the entrance of the restricted section.
The teen stared at the gate blocking everyone from books that some held magic so dark or advanced that they weren't even taught at the school. It seemed like a perfect spot to research information about the Knights, even if there was a high chance that he won't find anything about them.
Henry brushed a stand from his hair and decided to lean aginest the wall directly next to the restricted section as he opened the book in his hand and let his eyes drift to the pages but his mind drifted toward the plan on how to get into the restricted section.

It came as little surprise to most that Thomas knew that he was incredibly interested in the Restricted Section of the library. Forbidden knowledge, in the minds of this inquisitive Ravenclaw, was an oxymoron of sorts, as truth was more important than anything else. Of course, the boy was only thirteen, so figuring out how he'd navigate his way into the section was practically impossible. He'd heard rumors that students who excelled had the opportunity to take a gander into the restricted section for specific subjects, but though Thomas had quite the bright mind he had been developing something of a grudge against Hogwarts for a while. Working within the rules of the system was beginning to grate at him.
Naturally, Thomas with the bravado he inherited from his Gryffindor father made his way to that particular area of the library. He wasn't stupid, and knew to seem like he was looking for books he was allowed to be checking out, so he moved with purpose through the shelves. The young Ravenclaw over time had learned that one of the most crucial parts of being nefarious was confidence, and though his heart was pounding in his ears his expression remained blank and unimpressed.
Unfortunately for Thomas, it seemed that he wasn't alone. With his terrible luck, it was inevitable that his grand plans would be thwarted, so he couldn't even muster up an angry sort of response. Sighing loudly, loud enough for Henry to hear, he announced his presence so the Slytherin wouldn't be caught by surprise Henry might've noticed that Thomas seemed exhausted, with dark circles around his eyes and a shuffling sort of walk that betrayed tiredness. It wouldn't be an improper observation, but it might've been a faux pas to mention it. Over the past year, the Ravenclaw boy had left his appearance and health by the wayside in favor of trying to get to the bottom of countless mysteries he found himself in.
"Hello," Thomas began, his tone emotionless and dry. "I was just looking for some reference materials for Transfiguration. With the new professor, I've actually been interested in the subject for once. Apologies if I'm disturbing you." He kept it cordial, but distant, hoping that he wouldn't be accused of breaking any rules or thinking about doing so. The Ravenclaw knew next to nothing about Henry, aside from his name due to his status as a duelist, but he had no way of knowing how much of his reputation of sorts preceded him. Thomas was a duelist, a jerk, and something of a wack job during times of danger, but that last part was largely only known by people in his house.

Henry tugged on the ravenclaw scarf that hung around his neck for a moment before turning the page of the book in a attempt to look like he was reading when in reality he was formulating a plan to get into the restricted section.
There wasn't really anyone by him besides from one or two loners probably studying for a upcoming examination so Henry wasn't that concern at the moment about someone approaching him and figuring out what he was up to.
Letting his eyes rest on the shelves beyond the gates of the restricted section for only a moment, watching fragments of light slip through cracks onto books that held forbidden knowledge. Some were about the dark arts and other forms of magic that the professors weren't even allowed to teach in their classes yet so of course the teen was curious and wanted to get in. Not to mention there may be something in, even just a piece of evidence to help him in his investigation about the Knights.
If anyone would approached Henry then the first thing they would notice is the ravenclaw scarf that hung around his neck and the thing would be the dark bags under his eyes from his lack of sleep.
However a voice would distract Henry from his thoughts and he would find himself face to face with a dark haired boy. One that was looking for books on Transfiguration because the new professor was allowing a new interest for him with the class.
The boy only was familiar to Henry from dueling since he recognized him as ravenclaw dueling, Thomas he thought his name was. His team was pretty good but also he seemed to have a record at being knocked unconscious each round which some would find humorous but Henry just found that as sad.
Besides from that there wasn't much Henry knew about the ravenclaw, he heard around the corridors through that he was preceded as a jerk by some but luckily the teen wasn't one to believe rumours.
However Henry was a bit worried with what the boy heard or thought of Henry, there wasn't much going on about the boy except for some rather new rumours now thanks to the howler he received from his father a few days ago.
But what Thomas might have heard about Henry is that he's a duelist, a know it all, teacher's pet that skips classes, he's the "reason" for his twin's disappearance, his hand is always up in classes answering questions, and finally he knew a few advanced and dark spells or jinxes which as false but the teen wasn't exactly sure how that one started.
Henry thought about suggesting to Thomas that he went to go see the new Transfiguration professor who was in Henry's opinion the rather odd and old "cowboy" man that the teen couldn't help but feel awkward around but instead Henry gave the fellow Duelist a smile as he spoke kindly, " your not disturbing me mate, no worries," but he was a witness at least to Henry in discovering his plan on how to get into the restricted section, " Transfiguration books are on the right at the front of the library but there are a few interesting ones on the shelf across from the window that looks out to the quidditch pitch," it was sad how much Henry knew of the library.

Humming in the apathetic sort of way, Thomas nodded in response to Henry's recommendation. It was polite after all, to seem like an active listener even when he could hardly care at all. Though the boy didn't often observe social niceties, there was no reason to be intentionally obstructive when he was trying not to stand out. His gaze drifted towards the section of the library he had been interested in exploring, lingering for a few seconds before eventually making its way back to the Slytherin before him. There were a few more seconds of rather awkward silence as he observed his fellow duelist before Thomas spoke, "Henry, right? Henry Knight?"
The comment was innocuous, a recognition of name and no more, but Thomas had a way of speaking that might have made it seem a bit rude. Perhaps it was the sideways smile that broke out on the boy's face, subtle but a reflection of the gears turning in the Ravenclaw's mind as he slowly pieced together what he knew to be true about Henry. Perhaps it was the tone; just a hint of passive aggression, barely discernible but certainly there. The Ravenclaw might have been small, lacking in most physical attributes height included, but he held wickedness in his heart that only seemed to show itself when he found himself capable of judging others.
"I'm Thomas Baines, Ravenclaw," he offered in return, smile fading and apathy returning as if nothing at all had happened. His delivery for the next statements was dry, almost scathing, but Thomas was straight-faced enough to hold a level of plausible deniability should he have been accused of being rude. "You know my house, always in pursuit of knowledge. I don't suppose you have any recommendations for reference material that could be used to get ahead, maybe in DADA? I know I came here for Transfiguration, but you seem to do so well in class that I can't help but ask how you do it." At one point in his first year, Tom had been a know-it-all and it had gotten him in trouble. Nowadays, he largely left answering questions and the interactive portions of lessons to his peers, and though he still did well academically his marks had fallen with his mental health.
"I would ask Callie, but she's more into Charms," Thomas added, hoping that the offhand implication that Henry had some form of outside help would be expertly concealed. It was a meticulously crafted insult, to imply that there was no other way the Slytherin could be as successful as he was without some external deciding factor.

Henry showed the ravenclaw only friendliness as his emotions remained hidden behind the barrier the young teen had up, making him appear as a emotionless statue almost with a single small smile.
Thomas didn't seem to leave for the transfiguration books like Henry had thought, which meant the ravenclaw was there for another reason which increased the difficultly to come up with a plan to sneak into the restricted section. However Henry didn't show his disappointment, hiding away all emotions except for a smile as he close his book keeping a mental note on the page he was at and held it by his side.
A small nod along with a smile when Thomas asked him about his name, he wasn't surprised that the ravenclaw knew him. After all Henry knew who Thomas was from dueling so it only made sense.
"Yeah, I'm Henry," the young teen spoke with a small smile as his own blue eyes looked across at the ravenclaw straight in his blue gaze.
Even through Henry heard of Thomas Baines from dueling, he decided not to say anything mainly since he heard or perhaps seen from a distance that the ravenclaw was a genius when it came to his own but also opponents strategy. However the ravenclaw never really had any luck on his side since he nearly always fell unconscious during his duels even if his team won.
Henry was able to experience the embarrassment, panic, and feeling of being knocked out in a duel twice. The first time his team had lost against ravenclaw and Henry might have been missing and longing for his first partner which probably was the reason for their single loss.
However the second time they won after he was knocked unconscious and the lone hufflepuff forfeited. It didn't change the fact that Henry felt like a failure about being knocked unconscious during his duels but he also guessed that Thomas wouldn't like to he remained of falling down in his own duels so Henry stayed silent.
Upon hearing Thomas's short introduction through, Henry gave the lad a smile as he spoke" it's a pleasure to officially meet you besides from the whisperings of you through dueling," giving the boy a nod and smile as he thought about how similar Ravenclaw and Slytherin really was. The two houses even came close in the championship not to mention students from each house seem to hold traits of the other house, it looked like at least to Henry that a ravenclaw and slytherin would make a remarkable team really.
Henry heard Thomas's questions and explanation. Turns out the ravenclaw was looking for books on defense against the dark arts to help him get ahead apparently because the ravenclaw house is known to always be in pursuit. Then Henry heard the ravenclaw ask him why he did well in the class which was curious to Henry, naturally the boy thought he did well was because before Hogwarts his brother taught him the material and Henry studied the books while at Hogwarts, Henry choose to read ahead or just read in general about any of the subjects.
However from classes with ravenclaw, Henry knew that Thomas also had high marks or performed rather well in class. So them why was he asking?
Henry gave the ravenclaw a small smile as he spoke" Slytherin's are just always in pursuit of knowledge to I guess," he would give a small laugh before noticing that was a terrible joke and quickly adding, " sorry that was a bad joke," however he would looked behind him for a moment before pointing to a section on their left near the front as he spoke" defense against the dark arts books should be over there as well as over there," Henry would point to a section across from it before turning back to Thomas and gesturing to a row by them as he spoke" there's also a few advanced ones in that row and the row besides the one with astronomy books in the backs."
Henry would think for a moment, pretty sure he got all the places before adding, " those should be most of the spots besides from the restricted section," Henry gave a slight laugh before catching his words and averting his eyes for a moment before taking a single deep breath and turning back toward Thomas.
"I never been in the restricted section even if I want to go in and I don't do anything special to do well in class, I guess I just studied the classes and my older brothers old textbooks before coming to the school most days but you do bloody well in class as well. Could I ask what your secrets are," Henry spoke as his voice lingered with playfulness with the questions before listening Thomas speak and nodding a bit. Wondering who he was exactly talking about, his mind jumped to one Callie Jensen who in Henry's opinion could he rather loud and obnoxious and rude at times but he didn't say this.
"Callie Jensen? She's rather smart in charm classes from what I heard," Henry spoke from hearing that she was and also seeing it possibly. Even through he could excell in charms as well, the young teen preferred to do well in all his classes as he spoke" defense against the dark arts sometimes is more interesting through and relatable if that makes sense," Henry would eye the ravenclaw before quickly adding, " but uh yeah those are where the defense against the dark arts books are located."

"Oh dueling, of course," he answered plainly. Thomas didn't particularly like that his name was recognizable, far preferring to remain unknown by the student body, but participating in the martial sport was the only way he could practice casting spells without earning a detention. Having learned his lesson from Jack Warren's punishment, Thomas would simply have to deal with the fact that as an underaged magic student his options were limited. Once he got older, obscurity would be easily maintained. "You know Adonis, right? He and his partner kicked my tuckus in the most recent stage. That kind of sucked," Thomas commented, mildly irritated at the fact. The Ravenclaw duo had been undefeated up until going up against the Slytherins.
Thomas didn't really care about the dueling championship, the state of his house, and their victories (or defeats) hardly bothered him. What did bother Tom was the fact that it was himself (and Callie) who had lost this stage. He had quite a lot of pride in his abilities, and admittedly his mood was soured by the fact that his confidence was shattered. Perhaps this was what caused his less than sunny mood towards Henry... Or at least, it was part of it.
"So, what are you in this corner of the library for, if you know the lay of the land as well as you seem to?" The question was fairly out of the blue, Thomas wasn't one to mince words. In truth, there was a reason why the Ravenclaw himself had wandered back there, just simple scouting due to his curiosity. However, always one to assume the worst, Tom figured Henry was up to no good. "Isn't that the Restricted Section just over there?"

"yeah, dueling, " Henry replied with even less energy than Thomas. The young teen usually got excited for dueling practices and learning different spells but recently, since his last two duels the teen have been feeling rather down about dueling.
He was the first unconscious in his team and the second unconscious in his last duel, the first being the hufflepuff captain.
His team didn't win, the other side forfeit. A win that Henry didn't recognize. The Viridian Vipers might have won the championship but Henry didn't care, all he could care about was he fell unconscious twice. His spells didn't hit majority of the time. He couldn't help his partner during the duels. He lost. He was a failure. That was all that was going through his mind.
Henry nodded to the boy's words, about knowing Adonis. He was a dorm and team mate after all so naturally Henry knew him. The team won, wasn't that their first win? The third stage was the best stage for slytherin, nearly every team won. Nearly. Henry still felt like he lost, like he didn't do anything for his duel, like he failed.
"Losing never feels right," Henry commented as he remembered past duels or what others mentioned about them, offering the ravenclaw a half smile as he spoke" you defeated two third years in one of your duels through? Wicked really," defeating two older years and without them forfeiting really did sound amazing to Henry. The teen would be so lucky if that happened to him. If.
Dueling was a topic Henry enjoyed majority of the time, that day or rather that year now since the last two duels. However the topic changed. To one that Henry would have preferred not to discuss either.
Why was he there? Why was he in a corner so near to the restricted section?
"Uh-" Henry started but lost the words, what to say... what would he say...
Another question from the ravenclaw, this time mentioning the restricted section. Henry looked over at it. Should he lie and say he didn't know or tell the truth?
Henry looked at Thomas and took a moment before thinking something over as he asked" how much do you follow the rules and can you keep a secret?"
