Flourish and Blotts
Flourish and Blotts
Chaleur found herself standing in the middle of one of the busiest shopping districts she had ever been in. Diagon Alley. Today, she was supposed to be shopping for her school supplies, but her escort decided that it would be best that she did this alone. After a few vague and quickly explained instructions the man quite literally disappeared, leaving the eleven year old alone and confused in a world she absolutely nothing about. Her parents would not be happy if they found out she was left unattended.
For a while she stood there, petrified as she took in her surroundings. This place was bustling with life, happy, and magical, it was unfortunately for the latter that Chaleur was having a hard time coping. People were dressed oddly, almost all casting some sort of incantation or holding some kind of strange item. Children and adults alike were roaming about doing as they pleased. It was an atmosphere she had never encountered before. And deep beneath the anxious coil in her stomach, she felt something else, excitement. Even curiosity.
There were so many new things here for Chaleur to experience and learn about. She lifted her supplies list and read to herself. She had many items to buy today, luckily the professor had helped her parents exchange currency so she could do this. She was immediately drawn to the booklist. Her emerald eyes scanned over the list, and she felt excitement rush up her spine. Being the avid reader that she was she could hardly contain her joy at the thought of how many amazing magical books might exist. So much knowledge not known to the world, not known to her.
Before she could even think she was already walking down the street in search of the bookshop. She stopped briefly to rent a trolley to haul her supplies in after seeing all she had to buy. She wandered for a while, eyes scanning over the various shops. Pets, wands, joke shops, apothecaries. After a few minutes, she finally found a small bookshop on the left hand side, doors propped open with people loitering about inside and outside.
This was the place. She gripped her list a little tighter and entered the building. Her eyes widened in awe at the sight before her. The shop was crammed to the ceiling with shelves and stacks of books. The humming of chatter filled the room, and the smell of the pages and ink emanated heavily.
Doing her best not to bump into anyone, and failing miserably, Chaleur set out in search of the books on her list.
