A New Life Begins
Deymon stood on the path between platforms Nine and Ten, feeling increasingly more confused as the clock ticked by.
She thought back to what her letter and that person who had told her parents she was a witch said:
”Just run into the wall on platform Nine.”
Into the wall?
I must look very strange, Deymon thought, standing here with a long wooden trunk.
She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and ran at the brick wall, which seemed most certainly solid.
She kept running and running, pushing the heavy luggage cart in front of her, but the impact she was expecting never came.
She opened her eyes just a bit, and saw an amazing sight.
In front of the platform she was standing on, a bright red train was on the track, chugging steam.
As she took in the sight, Deymon thought back to what her mother had told her the night before.
”You know, the moment you were born, I knew you were destined to be someone special.”
This raised a chilling question.
What had she meant?
Did she, perhaps, know that Deymon was a witch? Did someone in her family line have magical powers?
Not very likely, Deymon thought. or else I wouldn’t be considered a muggle-born.
Was it, simply, just that motherly notion that all first-borns were great and smart?
Deymon couldn’t drive the thought out of her head. Maybe she was just being silly.
