It had taken her hours to get into stupid Diagon Alley. Suzuki had waited at the brick wall for what seemed like years. Because she didn’t have a wand to tap the stupid bricks to get in. Finally, some onlooking wizard had pitied her, and opened up the place for her. While Suzuki was grateful that someone had decided to open up the so-called ‘gates’, she was extremely pissed off. The last thing she needed was someone’s stupid pity. Her idiot mother was supposed to come, but of course, Ministry work called.
Going around, Suzuki quickly managed to grab all the required books. She was supposed to hurry up to the cauldron place to get her stuff for potions, but honestly- this was Flourish and Blotts! A bookstore! Nothing was more appealing to her than a bookstore.
Jamming the purchased books in her briefcase style bag, Suzuki poked around in the astronomy section. She took out a rather thick book, let her bag droop to the ground, and sat against the shelves in a corner.
Flipping the book open, she quickly became absorbed in the book.
To be honest, wizard astronomy wasn’t that different from Muggle astronomy. And Muggle astronomy was full of stuff like physics, dark matter, the Big Bang, and even more. Suzuki understood a bit of physics, but the more complicated math was a bit hard to understand.
Apart from military stuff, astronomy was her favorite genre to read.

Momiji had been walking around a little while rolling an empty suitcase she had boughten after reading over the list of things she had to get. on top of that she got herself a backpack she hoped it would be enough to get back to the group home but honestly, she wasn't sure. a cauldron might not even fit in either of the bags. what should she do then? The only cauldrons she had seen had been on tv in cartoons surrounded by witches doing magic. and in a play called Macbeth. Suddenly Momiji had a thought. Did Shakespeare know about witches or what? She wondered if what the witches said was anything like what she would be learning. She reread the note the professor had told her about a wall in the back she headed towards it then stood there. What am I supposed to do now? she thought looking it up and down. Am I supposed to climb it? is there a button I'm supposed to press? a wizard came over to her. "trying to figure out how to get in?" Momoji jumped a little but nodded. "Bloody hell second kid today nothing like when I went to school." she watched them pull out a long stick and poke some bricks. then suddenly the wall started to move. or rather the bricks came apart sliding around till there was an alley full of stores and people in cloaks running about getting their shopping done. It reminded her of stores in moves having sales and last-minute shopping like herself. She thanked the person and went inside looking at the stores before the list and decided to go and get her books.

As she walked into the store Momiji's eyes widened. all these books and she had no idea what could be inside. She could feel her heart start to race a little and for a moment her face looked like a kid going into a candy store. She quickly shook her head a little and took a calming breath. you only have so much money to work with. She told herself. maybe she could come back and get another book she didn't need for school but then again she would have no clue where she'd want to start alphabetically? by year? as she wandered through the store looking up at the tall stacks and wondering how anyone would know what was up there she suddenly tripped over a girl reading a book on the floor in a corner and fell flat on her face.

Before she had time to react, some kid tripped over her. And fell flat. On her face.
What the hell?
Suzuki looked up. Some girl with really, really long hair had fallen. Suzuki stared at her, then looked away for a second. It probably wasn’t nice to stare. She got up, and walked around to the front of the girl. Now that she could see her better, Suzuki noticed how...Asian she looked. Japanese, probably. That was good. Suzuki preferred people of the same religion of her, though she had no preferences.
With hair that long, no wonder she tripped. Bet it happens often.
“Hey. What’re you doing? Get up.” Suzuki leaned down, and grabbed the girl a little too roughly by the arm, and hoisted her up. She wanted to ask if the girl really was Japanese, but decided not too. The girl looked a little lost, which Suzuki could definitely relate to. She wondered if the girl was going to Hogwarts. Nah, she looked way too young to be eleven. Suzuki asked anyways, deciding it’d be fine since the girl looked remotely Japanese.
“Hogwarts? First year? Need your books?” Suzuki asked simply. She could tell the girl was here for books, but not what books she was here for. Obviously. Well, if the girl needed books, then Suzuki could get them for her. She’d already memorized where everything was in Flourish and Blotts, anyways.

Ow... Momiji thought gotta get up she thought slowly before registering someone talking to her. and realizing it was probably the person she tripped over before she felt the hand on her arm and the feeling of being lifted quite roughly. But Momiji was used to things like that being pushed or pulled out of the way of some big kid was usual for her. She looked up at the girl shifting some of the hair out of her face "u-um y-yes" she said before bowing a little her stomach started to feel tense as her nerves were getting to her talking to someone was hard especially someone her age. or what she assumed to be her age. judging by this girl's looks. "g-gomen" she moved her hand up then looked down suddenly worried. there strapped to her front was a stuffed teddy bear in a handmade harness She looked scared that the bear might have gotten a tear in it. when she noticed the bear didn't seem to have anything wrong with it she continued to put her hand on its paw stroking the fur to calm herself down. She then realized something she didn't say sorry in the right language. "i-i mean i-i'm sorry i... I didn't hurt you did I?" she asked her eyebrows pulling together a little concern and sadness all over her face.

Seriously, how old was this girl? Suzuki noticed the giant teddy bear she was clutching. She herself had never had a stuffed bear or anything like that. Sure, there was that fat white cat that her aunt had had, but that wasn't really like something Suzuki liked so much as to drag it everywhere with her.
"G-gomen. I-I mean I-I'm sorry I... I didn't hurt you did I?"

At first, Suzuki couldn't tell if she was talking to her or the teddy bear. Gomen... The Japanese word for 'pardon', or 'forgive me'.

"It's alright, just watch it." Suzuki said back in Japanese, now assuming the girl was Japanese as well. Fortunately, most of the Japanese her aunt had forced her to learn as a small child was still ingrained in her brain.

"Wait here." Suzuki disappeared for a quick second, and grabbed a bunch of books off from the shelves. She went back to the aisle where the girl was, and handed the stack of books to her.
"Here. Hogwarts first year required books." Suzuki said. It had taken her maybe a minute to gather all of them- it wasn't that hard. Most first year books were in the same place, plus, it helped that she'd memorized where each of them were. "Where's your parents?" Suzuki asked. She then immediately regretted it. Suzuki herself knew that not everyone was so fortunate, but she made no attempt to take what she said back.

Momoji was a little surprised to be talked to in Japanese it had been a while, to say the least and whenever she did it people always told her to speak English. She watched the girl rush off and looked around a little before moving to be closer to the shelf in case anyone were to come into the hallway she was standing in. When she came back with the stack of books she took it immediately "t-thank you." she said quietly still in Japanese since it was offered to her to be able to speak in again. Then the question she knew was coming and her expression said it all as her eyes filled with a deep sadness. "t-they aren't here anymore it just me" she said before shrugging a little. "the people in the group home I'm in didn't want to get involved so" she half-smiled. "b-but I can manage o-on my own" I always do... she thought to herself She bowed a little again. "t-thank you for your h-help..." she trailed off. they hadn't really introduced themselves so she didn't know what to call the girl before her. There meeting wasn't exactly the most formal of occasions. i should have been paying more attention to where I was going... but at least I got my books easily enough...

"T-they aren't here anymore it 's just me. The people in the group home I'm in didn't want to get involved, b-but I can manage o-on my own."

A group home, huh? Suzuki had experienced a group home once before, just after her aunt had kicked the bucket. It was loud. Boring, of course. Kind of lonely, too… It all seemed so empty.

“What else do you need? I’m going to be here for a few more hours so I can help you, if you need it.” Suzuki paused for a moment, and continued in Japanese. “My mom was supposed to pick me up here about three hours ago, but I reckon she forgot.”

Her mother always forgot everything. Especially when it came to her. But Suzuki decided she should be grateful that she even had a mother, considering…

She scuffed her boot across the floor, a scowl on her face. She always had a weird sense of clothing stuff, fashion, Muggles called it. Suzuki usually wore something very military style. A pair of fatigues. A grey t-shirt. Today, however, she wore black boots with silver eyelets and soles instead of the normal combat boots she wore.

She flipped through the astronomy book, and slid it back into the shelf behind her. Suzuki didn’t want to spend anymore money then she had to. Even if it was for a book. She already had loads of books at home.

Momiji tilted her head a little surprised by the offer. "w-well... e-everything b-but these books..." she shifted them to one arm her hand shifting behind her bear and into the jacket pocket before taking her wallet out. She had quite a bit of cash that was visible in it. "i-i just hope I brought enough..." she shifted to grab her suitcase handle with a couple of her fingers. "i-i'm M-Mikoto Momoji" she added figuring she'd introduce herself as she watched her looking down. she glanced down too as she moved her leg what she was wearing didn't really seem to phase her. Clothes weren't something she thought too much about considering everything she owned now was hand me downs having grown out of the things her parents got her. She glanced at the book she had just returned and looked interested oh how she wanted to just add that book to her pile but her room was full of books quite literally she had so many she didn't have room on the shelf anymore. now she couldn't get anything new that wasn't school-related it sucked. But at least she could go to her library it was only a few bus's a way she could spend all day there and she did during the summer but when school came around it was a different story.

Cash? Didn’t the girl have galleons and all that? Suzuki decided not to ask. The girl fidgeted a little, and stuttered out her name. Suzuki was a little annoyed by how much she stuttered, but then again, everyone was different. Suzuki herself had never had problems with stuttering. She always decided what she’d say, then she’d say it out loud, clearly.

“Suzuki. Suzuki Kage. Just call me Suzuki.”

Only her closest friends, which Suzuki only had one of, had ever earned the ability to call Suzuki by her first name, Kage. But then again, Suzuki’s one ridiculous Muggle friend didn’t even call her Kage; she called Suzuki by the nickname ‘Suki’, as she thought it was ‘cute’. Suzuki’s mother usually called her Kage, but sometimes she’d call Suzuki ‘Suki’. It was kind of annoying, but it didn’t bother Suzuki all that much.

Before Suzuki could stop herself, she asked, “Do you miss your parents?” From what the girl said, Suzuki decided she knew her parents before, but something had happened. It was probably rude, but Suzuki didn’t really care what others thought. Each one for themselves, and Suzuki was kind of curious about this random long haired kid.

"i-its nice to m-meet you S-Suzuki- san," She said quietly. She didn't notice how she just slipped back into her Japanese traditions But she did start moving towards where she saw a desk earlier figuring that was where one paid for things. That is until she heard the question and turned to look up at her. Surprise crossed her face and a little confusion. She didn't usually get asked such a question. Or rather the way she worded it. memories came back to her older people saying. 'You miss your parents.' Not in a questioning way but as a statement. "Yes..." she said quietly frowning slightly the deep sadness she had coming back to her. "all of them... every day" she moved her hand from her suitcase and brushed her bear's fur a little. "I loved t-them..." she looked down before shaking her head a little her hair swishing back and forth with the movement. some strands falling in front of her face again. But she pushed the feelings back inside and grabbed her suitcase again to continue her task of getting her books paid for. Luckily there was no line but when she opened her wallet they put up their hand. and explained that she couldn't use muggle money. Well, that just confused her but they said to go to Gringotts. Where was Gringotts...
