Amethyst turned toward her parents. She stared at them in horror. Of course, she knew that Platform 9¾ - or more precisely, the brick wall - was safe, and she knew that running through it would not cause her any harm.

Probably.

But come on! It was a brick wall! A wall! You can't walk into walls! It doesn't work like that. She could not wrap her head around it. She walked up to her parents. "You guys go first. I can't." she said dramatically, covering her face with her hand. Her mother smiled at Amethyst, and she grabbed Candy's hand. Candy was Amethyst's four year old sister. Calmly, their mother walked through the wall. Amethyst stared. She stared and stared and stared and stared, until her father cleared his throat.
"Amethyst, would you like to walk in with me?" he asked. Amethyst nodded gratefully, and she walked up beside him. He turned his head, checking to see if people were watching, and then pulled Amethyst up to the wall. "Take a deep breath, Amethyst," he said. She did, and they ran - pulling Amethyst's suitcase with them - into the wall. Amethyst squeezed her eyes shut, and then it was over. They were in!
