APPEARANCE
Appearing like a lovable grandpa who doubles as a western legend, Atticus stands tall, and carries himself with a pride that suggests he owns the world; though his mustache would suggest that such pride is derived from his facial hair.

Trimmed with precision and purpose, those handlebars convey a strength that defies their whitened nature. In keeping with consistent coloration, his hair bears the same platinum shade, though it isn't flaunted quite so loftily, as it is generally topped by his signature, wide-brimmed cowboy hat.

The one facet of his hair that isn't quite on board with the silver fox look would be his eyebrows, which stubbornly cling to their original brown coloring.

While his eyes hold a faded green pigment, and are set among slight wrinkles of time and experience, they contain no sign that he has passed his prime. The youthful light within them compliments the gentle smile that usually resides on his lips.

PERSONALITY
kind-hearted- patient- focused- stalwart- persistent- competitive- capable- observant- daring- discerning- adventurous - protective- dedicated- generous- spry- rugged- supportive- passionate- practical- confident
Born and raised where the cows come home, Atticus is what most would define as a southern gentleman, and he's got the mustache to prove it. True to his roots, he'd never dream of showing disrespect to another. But he'd never dream of taking any, either.

Stubborn as a bull, yet soft as a lamb, the fires of competition and headstrong determination burn within his gentle heart, pushing him to be the best at anything he undertakes. After all, what's the point of doing something if you're not going to give it all you've got? The hat on his head and the animals he grew up with beg to describe his inner drive as horsepower.

Ever obstinate in the face of life, he refuses to accept the harsh reality of his growing age, standing firm in the belief that he can perform any task just as efficiently as his youthful self ever could, if not better. With age comes wisdom, and an increasing contempt for assistance.

In the midst of his tenacious spirit, however, shines an equally unyielding sense of compassion for others, born from the appreciation he holds for all life. This shows forth in his attitude toward his students. A dedicated mentor, he takes pleasure in being more than a mere teacher in their eyes, but rather, a relatable figure that they can approach - even a friend.

Seeing as he has the energy and childlike enthusiasm to rival the best of them, why shouldn't they see him that way?

Though he bears a youthful nature that spits in the face of his age, he retains the experience and wisdom gained through those many years, and isn't one to act rashly.

Stalwart in the face of adversity, you'll never find a stronger wall to shelter behind. Though the winds may howl, and the beasts roar, he will stand tall, until he can stand no longer. Even then, he'll just crawl.

HISTORY
Reducio

Atticus Wade was born March 23rd, 1965 to his parents. One John Wade, a hot shot southern lawyer with a knack for dancing around the truth, and Barbara Wade a petite florist and stay at home mother who raised Atticus as an only child. Growing up privileged even among muggles, Atticus had many friends and even made a few enemies. Though his family were supportive of his interests, there was always some external pressure to be well spoken, well mannered, and proper in the eyes of their father. Showing an early aptitude for maths, sciences and reading from even an early age, Atticus began contemplating reality from as a youth and developed an immensely powerful imagination by the age of 9.

In the year of 1974, John Wade lost his job following the Watergate Scandal. Not only had this treacherous President's resignation cost John his career, but it mired their family name due to his vehement support in the face of allegations. As they say, tragedy always strikes twice. Coincidentally, one night before bed Atticus overheard his parents arguing that they couldn't afford the house any more. With great fear for his family's future in his little heart a miracle happened. The soup at the dining room table had been replaced with baby back ribs, the white bread with buttered country rolls, and the milk with Coca-cola. Running out to his father and mother immediately, excited to show them the unexplainable dinner, there was a bounty that night. Even though this food was oddly not enough to fill their bellies, it was enough to give them hope, so none of them took his gifts for granted. John and Barbara decided to settle down somewhere new, so buying a ranch home in New York was their plan for the future. This home is where Atticus learned to care for cattle and ride horses. A few years after the magical incident, Atticus was contacted by Ilvermorny and summarily sorted into Wampus house.

His aptitude for math and science proved to be an asset to his house as he became one of the foremost experts of Transfiguration in the school. Unfortunately it wasn't long before he had made a mistake in starting off on the wrong foot over the foolish notions of pride and honor. As a result of his pride, Atticus spent his years in the Wampus house as an underdog, constantly being forced to prove that his patience and determination were what would make him an honorable warrior. Atticus was only successful in patching things up after nearly being expelled for his reluctance to let go of the matter. Luckily, a dear mentor spoke with Atticus, convincing him to have a change of heart despite his strong will. Deciding it best to patch things up, from then on, he became far more humble. This newfound respect for his peers would later on translate to a love of diverse thought and challenge in all walks of life.

Despite his success at school, Atticus's home life remained mostly out of his control. His father's reluctance to let his reputation fade into the past nearly brought ruin to their family a second time. Only after a large blowout did Atticus's father John finally come to see reason, but by then it was far too late. The damage had been done, their relationship was shattered, and Atticus stubbornly chose to abandon his family post-graduation. A futile attempt to repress the sadness caused by the falling out with his father, Atticus would learn the hard way that luck was not enough to make a man of himself. He learned that in order to be happy, he must be brave enough to face himself honestly and without bias.

Graduation was a momentous event, one where Atticus was quickly picked my "The Magical Congress of the United States of America" for his skill with Transfiguration. The mission was to infiltrate a group with shared regressive interests. Atticus's role in that infiltration was two fold. First, he would report back to Congress as an informant, and second Atticus would await instructions. Instructions meant to dismantle, sabotage, or otherwise render the group's interests unconscionable. Proving himself more than capable during the recruitment and training processes, it would be an entire decade before Atticus saw himself clean of the affair. A prolonged and messy infiltration that cost more than just a few lives.

After his first mission was completed, Atticus returned home to New York to find that his parents had already passed away in his absence, unannounced and leaving everything they had to him. Grief-stricken with remorse for his last goodbye and it's vitriol, and without a single tie to his former life, Atticus re-enlisted with Magical Congress while he awaited a new mission. He waited for purpose to find him again. In the mean time, he took to managing the family ranch on his lonesome. It was good, hard work and his avoidance of magic would prove useful in keeping him spry into his middle age. It would be another decade before Atticus was called into service once more for his nation.

However, before the call to action could take place, Atticus would meet someone special. The kind of person you only meet once in a lifetime. For the first time since his return to the world at large, Atticus felt love for someone other than himself and the weight of his emotional burdens became all that much more bearable. Ever loyal to protecting others before thinking of himself, Atticus had nearly forgotten about his wait listing and was called back into service before he could get married. A dangerous mission, Atticus felt as though if he left it up to another, the challenge might be too great and so he left them at the altar. Another of his many regrets, Atticus eventually accepted the idea that he would lead a life of service, a life without the affection of a partner.

Eventually becoming tired of the lying, the politics, and the skullduggery, Atticus developed a passionate desire to be true to himself. At the age of fifty-six, Atticus sought stable retirement. A quiet future for himself where none would interfere. For someone rapidly approaching their sixties, Atticus desires most of all a way to be remembered. To leave behind some legacy of the Cowboy with a heart of gold who'd do anything to do the right thing. Instead of requesting a pension, and knowing his homeschool of Ilvermorny to be pocked with his former enemies, Atticus requested magical congress pulled whatever strings necessary to get him a job at Hogwarts. A fresh start of sorts. Late, but new. Here at Hogwarts, he teaches Transfiguration, leads a quiet retirement in Hogsmeade, and dances with the demons of his past.
