Starting Over Finished

Melody stood outside the barrier to Platform 9 3/4 with her hands clenched tightly around her cart. Suitcases filled with books, clothes, ink, and other schools supplies shoved inside were stacked tall, teetering and warning to spill over at any moment. As she looked around nervously, she could feel her hands begin to sweat and the metal bar become slippery. She saw her mother and father standing over her with pride shining in their eyes, and she was determined to make them even prouder.
"Promise you'll write?" Melody smiled nervously at her small family.
"Of course, dear," Emily, her mother, bent down and cupped her face in cool hands, "every day of the week."
With that, Melody relaxed a bit and pulled Emily and Richard, her father, into a big hug. She could feel tears swimming around in her eyes as she looked across at the stuffy train station, and when she released her parents, she could see them crying as well. Melody nodded and turned around to face the barrier, narrow blue eyes closed tightly. She took a deep breath and held the bar of her trunk harder than ever, before running straight into the wall, almost bracing herself for the crash.
But the crash didn't come, and Melody continued to run with her eyes shut, the wheels of the cart rattling on the floor. She opened her eyes once more and looked around, taking in the wonder. She had officially entered the wizarding world.
