How/where can you use these picture assets anyway?

They're to decorate your posts so it'll look prettier, of course! You can (i) use illustrations to add an extra 'oomph' to your Ency; (ii) add beautiful photos to help visualize a scene on your roleplays; or (iii) utilize dividers on your posts so your paragraphs are pretty and neat! The possibilities are endless.

Can't I just get them from Google?

Yes, but high quality, good pictures from Google almost always have a watermark on them. It gets even harder if you're looking for transparent .png, since there are so few sites that provide truly transparent pictures - most still have white backgrounds that will look hideous on the forum.
