HistoryDaffodil comes from a wealthy family - her mother the one who provided them with all they have. She raised her daughter on her own, within the city of London, with only the profits from her self made fashion business. Mrs Harbourshire gave Daffodil the “tools” she needed to become who she is today.
Having left her mother before the birth, Daffodil’s father is someone foreign to her. Guilty of making assumptions about him being just as much of a horrible person as he was made out to be. She hadn’t lingered too much into thoughts other than these of her father and when she did she pushed them deep down into the crevices of her mind, so they didn’t creep upon her until much much later, for the process to repeat itself. Contrary to what others think, Daffodil has no will to see her father or interact with him; if he were to ever return she wouldn’t deign to give him the time of day. That being said, considering the last she had heard of him involved his marriage to a woman who wasn’t her mother, it seemed almost impossible that he would ever make a reappearance.
While Daffodil had been to public school for the last two years, her mother took it upon herself to hire a private tutor for all of her previous education. She had trouble adjusting to social situations when she first arrived at school, having not been around many of her age, but eventually she began to make a few friends and understood what was expected from her in the world she had been thrust into.
The life that Daffodil played a role within was one of normalcy for someone raised with riches. She knew what was expected of her and she knew what she was able to do with the talents she had learnt to harness from a young age. Evidently, her mother’s adamant protests of her taking up these hobbies were what had caused these skills to blossom, but nevertheless, her deft Piano skills were all down to a tough practice schedule she forced upon herself.
It was this normalcy that led to it being quite extraordinary when she had heard she had magic flowing through her veins. In fact, she hadn’t believed what she had read at first, even as the Professor had explained who she was; putting the letter aside and disregarding it as pure nonsense.
