On The Way
Interacting with @Laura Thompson Brook
Grant breathed in and out. He could do this, going to Hogwarts was no big deal. Well, it was, since he was one more possible casualty. His uncle's whole reason for being a bit sour on the school was how his mother's life had been put in danger in their time there.
Grant had this odd thought that that meant, no matter how much Ben and Sarah had been fine here, that he would be some sort of target, and even if the danger was passed now.
That specific one anyway.
He couldn't even travel with his cousins, though, and was put among the other first years, for his own mingling, it was said.
Couldn't he just mingle with his cousins? This made it awkward.
Probably not all that different than others leaving their still alive parents, but...it felt like it somehow to Grant. He wasn't sure if he knew how to be on his own.
Again, probably what every First Year was going through.
So he continued walking down the corridor towards a compartment rather than turning around and making his way off the train and telling his uncle maybe they'd try again next year. He glanced the compartments over for...not a lack of other occupants, but to make sure there weren't too many and the challenge of meeting others could be slowly stepped into.
Grant was friendly and had had general friends back home, he just wasn't sure how hard meeting other magical kids would be, and if they were more used to their magic than he was.
Finally finding a compartment that wasn't crowded he took a seat and glanced out of the window. "I wonder if it's a flying train...", he commented to himself, the proximity of anyone coming into the car dictating if they heard him or not. It didn't seem like that wild of an idea if magic was real.
