Appearance:
Jacquelyn altogether looks quite average. She's small, but no smaller than most eleven-year-olds. She has an average build and is not particularly slim nor sturdy. Her light brown hair is thick with just a little hint of a wave, and has grown to fall partway down her back. Her bangs perpetually fall down into her hazel eyes. Her wire-framed glasses are a little too large for her face.

Personality:
Jacquelyn has no idea what she's doing, but she'd never tell you that. This kid desperately wants to be cool and confident and popular. She's ready to fake it until she makes it-- by being overly friendly, by easily making friends, and by trying to force a confidence that she doesn't (yet) entirely feel.

She pretends that nothing bothers her. The truth is that she's sensitive (or that's what her mother calls her). She wears her heart on her sleeve, and she's very quick to move from one emotion to the other. She is always low-key worried about what other people think of her, which adds an urge to please onto her gregariousness that could get her into trouble one day.

She does like learning, though she was a minor annoyance for many a muggle teacher at her previous schools. It's not that she's a bad kid, really-- she just excels when it's a group activity. She likes to talk and fidget and make noise. She likes the camaraderie of working together to solve a problem. She likes reading, but prefers comic books and graphic novels because they can be easily communicated and shown to others. Not even books are a solitary activity; she needs to tell you about it!

She does put a lot of pressure on herself to succeed-- not just to get good grades, but to excel in clubs and make lots of friends. She's heard a lot about Hogwarts from her father, and she desperately wants to live up to what she perceives are his expectations of her.

Biography:
Jacquelyn's father is descended from a line of staunchly proud and pureblood witches and wizards who did not take kindly to the muggle woman he introduced as his fiance. As such, Jacquelyn did not grow up absolutely immersed in magic the way that some magical children might; instead, the magic was small and subtle, discreet and carefully hidden from muggle family members-- except a few times a year when the entire family left the bustle of London behind to spend a terse evening in the countryside with The Gibsons.

She didn't think her childhood to be special or different; she went to muggle school and had muggle friends. Her father worked from home as an author and her mother owned a bakery. Sure, most of her friends thought it was weird that her Dad liked badgers and kept an antique broom collection, but who didn't have weird parents? Her friends didn't ask further and she wasn't allowed to tell them. It made sense that her best friend was her older half-sister, Agnes, who had to navigate the same complicated relationships of half-truths that she did.

The day her Hogwarts letter came was mentally and emotionally exhausting. Her parents took them out to celebrate. Agnes sulked the entire time and wouldn't talk to her long after they got home. Jacquelyn doesn't really know what to think about Hogwarts yet---all she knows is that it's far away in Scotland, far away from anything familiar and everyone she knows. But she is determined to have a great time, just like everyone says she should.

First Instance of Magic:
Looking back on it, there were probably several instances of magic. The most obvious incident, though, was after a huge fight with her sister, Agnes's hair was cut short while the two of them sulked in different rooms.
