A Cloudy Day

Its the begining of November. And its starts to get cold. Some mornings its even freeze on the ground. The winter is coming. Florence can feel it in her whole body. She made the decision to put on her winter coat today beacuse of the cold weather. She was on her way to one of her favorites places that she know at hogwarts. It was an old oak that was just outside the school ground. On the way to the owlery.

Florence had discoverd the oak just after a few days, after ariwing to Hogwarts. The oak was big and its stem was in a combination of brown and grey. What Florence had read in a book so could you see how old the three was by counting the agerings that the tree had. And u could only see it if you chopped it down. But after how big this old oak was. And quite large. Florence
guessed that the tree must have been there for a couple of hundred years.

Even if the oak couldnt talk. Florence felt a connection to it. So she liked to sit under it. And listen to the sound of the wind. And how the the leaves moved. No it wasnt any leaves left. Just the oaks branches. But that wouldnt let Florence abandoned her firend. Sometimes when it wasnt some pupils near she used to talk to the tree. She didint want the other people to think she was weirder than usual.

It was an early sunday morning so, so many people wasnt up yet. Florence was fast with just grabbing some brekfast from the great hall that morning. She took some sandwiches and then left. She wanted to eat together with the oak. She sat down and lean her back towards the stem. And took a big bite of one of her sandwishes. Then she closed her eyes to listen to sounds around her.

Emily got up after 8 hours of sleep. She looked out of the window and she went to the bathroom to freshen up. She then got ready and headed down to the Great Hall. She sat at the Gryffindor table and she took some muffins and she ate them one by one.

After a while of eating and drinking, she left the Great Hall and went outside. Emily looked around the grounds and she saw a pretty old oak tree with a girl sitting with the tree. Emily didn't really think that was weird because she herself doesn't have any friends.

So, Emily decided to walk over to the girl and the tree. "Hi! I'm Emily Flower. May I sit with you?" Emily said to the girl happily. Emily waited patiently for the girl to replay. "What's your name?" Emily added curiously.

"Hmmmm, I wonder if this girl has any friends or is this tree only her friend? If so I get how it feels to only have one friend or no one at all." Emily thought to herself. She then smiles at the girl. Emily thought that it'll be good if she is nice to the girl because she really wants to get her very first friend.

After a while did Florence open her eyes after hearing a voice. She imidiatley saw a girl with brown hair talking to her. She remeberd that she had saw the girl in the sorting cermony. But she couldnt remeber her name. She just know that she was placed in Gryffindor. That was something she remeberd.

Florence had always had easy for remebering things, it could be something someone said, something she read or in this case a face. She saw the girl smiling at her. She wasnt used to random people talking to her. Everyone seemed to think she was odd in someway. Of her way of talking and her intrest. It was like that in the muggle-school. So that is why Florence is quite used to people not liking her. So she has learnt that its better to take a step back. But if someone came to her, she guessed it would be unplesent to not answer.

The girl introduced herself as Emily Flower. And Florence thought the girls last name was quite uniqe. She hadnt heard of it before. Florence took a deep breath. "Nice too meet you Miss Flower. My name is Florence, Florence Ainsworth. But people use to call me Flo." Her face turned red as she spoke. Why did she always have to sound so polite and old in her way of speaking. Which person in her age said Miss to someone more than maybe the professors of the scool?

She heard the girl asking if she was allowed to sit with her. She nod her head as a yes. And showed with a gesture that it was just to sit. She wondering what she would say? She had notice a couple of times when she was out with her mum shopping. And if her mum met like a friend. She used to talk about the weather in lack of other things. Maybe that could work here to?
"It is getting colder now..." She said and looked up at the sky.

After the girl introduced herself and called Emily Miss Flower Emily simply chuckled a little bit. Once the girl nodded her head and gestured to where Emily can sit Emily sat there. Emily waited again for the girl to speak. When the girl spook about the weather Emily simply chuckled a little bit more.

"Yes, I suppose it is getting colder now. Soon we'll be able to leave Hogwarts for Winter Break. Well, that is everyone except for me. I have to stay in the castle all alone." Emily said cheerfully then sadly. Emily didn't really want to tell the girl about the full reason why she can't go back to her home. "Hopefully, she doesn't bring up why I can't go home for my winter break. Emily thought to herself.

There was some silence for a little bit. Emily listened to the wind blowing the branches she also listened to the sounds of nature. Emily smiled at the thought of playing her most favorite Muggle game which is tag and Capture the Flag. She is good at both. After a while of having some great memories of her and her siblings playing these games with her she had an idea!

"Hey, Florence, what's your bloodstatus? My bloodstatus is Pureblood. I'm fine if you are Halfblood or even a Muggleborn! Emily said. When she said Muggleborn she felt weird not saying the word "Mudblood". Which she is used to more then saying Muggleborn but she didn't want the girl to know.

Florence heard the girl saying it was sonn winter break. Florence hadnt realy thought about it. But it was planned that she would go home to spend some time with dad and mum. And then would her grandparents from Norway come down and also her fathers sister. Her grandparents didnt come down so often. And she and her father didnt visit them so often either. She hadnt seen them sence she was four years old. And now she was turning twelve soon. So it was eight years sence last. She heard that the girl wouldnt leave for Christmas at all. She would be staying at the castle all alone. She saw that the girl looked really sad about it.

"Im sorry for that" That was the only thing she said. She didnt want to bring the thing about it up and asked why. Maybe it was something personal so it was better to let the girl speak about it when she wanted it. Instead of asking dumb questions. Then the girl asked about bloodstatus. What made Florence wrinkle her eyebrows a bit. What kind of question whas that. But what she had read. It was quite a common one. Some people from the magic world. Didnt want the world to became full of mixture of bloodtypes. They wanted it to be only their kind of blood in their world. But this girl didnt seem to care so much about her being a muggleborn which she liked.

"Im born in a mugglefamily..." She hoped the girl wouldnt found her to weird for that. For her it seems liked the magical world cared to much about the bloodstatus then what people actually had in their hearts or their minds. Wasnt that more important then your blood?

Emily noticed that the girl didn't ask her why she wasn't going home. Emily was happy about that. Emily than relised what her older sister said before coming to Hogwarts about Winter break.

She said "Not everyone leaves Hogwarts for Winter break, Emily. So, if you do get sorted into Gryffindor you won't be the only one at Hogwarts."

With what her sister said in mind Emily thought of a way to say that she won't be all alone at Hogwarts for Winter break. "No, It's ok. I won't be all alone at Hogwarts for Winter break. I just remembered what my sister said." Emily said.

Once Emily heard that the girl was a Muggleborn witch she wondered if she should bring up what the rest of her family called Muggleborn witches. Emily didn't know how the girl will react to how her family calls a Muggleborn witch. Emily thought that she wouldn't risk it. So, she decided that she isn't going to say anything about what the rest of her family calls a Muggle born witch or wizard.

"Hey, do you wanna be my friend? It's ok if you don't want to be my friend." Emily said. She wondered if the girl did want to be her friend or not.
