Follow-up from this thread.

Opeila was annoyed. Not quite angry yet, but irritated at the very least. What brought a person to embarass themselves so much? Had they no sense of shame? The Slytherin could still only shake her head about it. Getting back inside was not the worst idea anyway, she had not even really noticed how cold she was getting outside. Maybe the pink haired Ravenclaw would come inside soon. At least she could stop screaming and keep the last shred of dignity, if there was even one left. Opeila couldn't think of one person who would not at least feel creeped out by Ginger's behaviour.

Anyway, the second year was not planning on thinking about Ginger for the rest of the day. There had to be something she could still do, right? She had not yet finished the magazine in her pocket and she had not eaten lunch yet either. Now the question was- eating in the great hall or taking some food out to eat elsewhere? And if not in the great hall, where else?
Opeila stood in the entrance hall for a moment, thinking what to do. The little creature that suddenly leaned against her ankles and purred came unexpected. "Loras?", Opeila asked surprised. "Who let you out, boy, hm?" She reached down to rub his head.
"I'm pretty sure I left you in the common room..."

It seemed she would have to take better care next time. Actually, if she thought about it, it wasn't that surprising. There were quite a few pet loving first years, who would not let the chance go to play with an animal that wasn't watched by the owner, right? Loras was no stupid cat, in fact, Opeila was very certain that the grey little furball had a Slytherin personality. He recognized love and he new how to use it for his purpose. Wasn't that also how he got her to take him out of the Magical Menagerie in the first place?

He felt as though he might be shaking a little in the aftermath of the unexpected chaos in the courtyard, though he couldn't find a trace of it in his hands when he looked at them, walking with brisk strides back inside with his mind vaguely on curling up under the throw on his bed and counting on the windowless insulation of his dorm room for a sense of security. (Maybe there was something to the badger logo after all.)

He came up short with a blink as he caught sight of Opeila again, trying to decide if he should just slip around her and head toward the kitchens, in case she was mad at him too, and then noticed what was coolly twining around her ankles.

"Oh, hey." He managed, somewhat lamely. "Your cat?" He asked. He knew other people had familiars, but he'd only been able to glance through the window of the Menagerie in passing, and imagine what his mother would think if he brought something particularly unusual home.

"...Sorry about that. I..." He started, stopped, and then blew out an awkward breath. "I blew up. Sorry. You had it handled and I uh... I'll go if you're mad."

He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck and trying to decide if he should just slink past, let her pet the cat, hers or otherwise, and go curl up in his room until his sense of doubt and regret stopping kicking while he was down.

Instead he paused and blurted; “I mean ok I probably could have handled the ‘muggle’ thing better... I won’t argue that... but I’m not completely crazy right? You don’t set up a joke about star signs or what have you with a take-notes-It’ll-be-on-the-test lecture, right? That was odd, right??

Opeila had not really expected anyone to come after her, but it kind of made sense. Quinlan didn't seem like the sort of person to enjoy an awkward situation like the one they had just come from either. The Slytherin picked up her cat to be on one level with the boy again, before she answered her question. "Yes, that's Loras." The grey cat examined the stranger with attentive yellow eyes. "I'd allow you to pet him, but er... I actually would not if I were you. He can be difficult with strangers.", she told Quin.

To her surprise, the younger boy started to apologize for what just happened outside. "What?", she asked a bit confused. "No- No, why would I be mad? I mean, fair, maybe the reaction to her calling your mother a muggle was a bit over the top, but that's your choice. Ginger was really pushing it." Opeila sent the boy a smile.

Opeila had really not expected the Hufflepuff to be that insecure about his words outside. "Quin, you're good.", she tried to calm him a little, "That was odd. I snapped at her for that too, it was getting on my nerves. But maybe she has to figure out her self, that she won't make it far with that kind of behavior." Opeila shrugged.

She eyed the Great Hall for a second. "I was going to get lunch. Should we get something out of the hall and go somewhere else? People from other houses at different tables seem to attract more attention than it should, even now still. Or... if you don't want to spend time with me, that's also fine, don't force yourself.", she offered him.
