A Little Lost
"Okay, turn into the corridor on the right, third door on the left, annnnd..."
Elodie pushed against the large, heavy wooden doors with all of her weight, and, slowly but surely, managed to force it open just enough for her to slip through the crack. With just as much difficulty, she pushed the door closed once more, and turned towards the room, a hopeful look on her face. However, it fell away only a moment later.
"...annnnd it's still not the library," she sighed, planting her hands on her hips and looking around in frustration. The castle, though beautiful, was incredibly large, sprawling, and confusing. Staircases moved every other minute, doors opened into nothing (or sometimes, different things depending on what time of day you opened it), and the furniture itself seemed to wander around the castle, robbing it of any significant landmarks. Even worse, it appeared that the paintings--which were known to travel between frames themselves--were absolutely useless when it came to directions. Yet again, Elodie was hopelessly lost. Breathing another sigh, she looked around, actually inspecting the room itself, and felt some of her annoyance melt away.
After all, she figured, there were certainly better places to be lost in than a beautiful ballroom.
Elodie allowed herself to smile, and figured that she could put off her trip to the library for a little bit. Given her inability to find her way around the castle, who was to say when the next time she'd be able to find the ballroom again? She may as well enjoy it while she was here.
With the thought in mind, she strolled deeper into the ballroom, sliding her messenger bag off her shoulder as she went and setting it on the ground. A small grin blossoming on her face as she reached the center of the room, she tipped her head back to look up at the beautifully ceiling. Giving a small, breathless laugh, she threw out her arms and twirled a little bit, before letting her arms fall back to her sides and smiling up at the painted creatures on the ceiling above her. There was something strangely euphoric about being in such a grand, majestic room all alone.

A Little Lost
Mia sprinted down the hallway towards the Trophy Room, feet sending loud 'clumps' as she ran. She was supposed to meet up with Marvin to clean the shelves-Marvin had sprinkled (poured) flour all over them a few days ago, andMia promised to help him clean that mess up-in about 10 minutes, and she forgot where the room was. Sprinting down the hallway, Mia heard a small, breathless laugh. She stopped. Mia turned around and pushed open the heavy door to the ballroom, where a girl threw out her arms and twirled a little bit, before letting her arms fall back to her sides and smiling up at the painted creatures on the ceiling above her. Mia blushed and closed the door that she was holding open, only to stumble a bit and push herself farther into the dimly lit ballroom with the brunette girl inside. Mia decided to declare her presence now, rather than look creepy to the girl.
"The ballroom is off limits if it's not being used. So what are you doing in here of all places?"
Mia walked towards the girl, smiling. She stopped in front of her and stuck out her hand.
"Hello, I'm Mia Alexander."

A Little Lost
Elodie could only imagine how beautiful the ballroom would like when it was in use. As far as she knew, it wasn't common for Hogwarts to throw celebrations that would require the use of a ballroom, but she could envision what it would look like in such a scenario: swaths of silk streamers stretched between the rafters, extravagant bouquets set on every table (of which there were many, barren now that they weren't in use), music playing so loud she'd be able to feel it in her chest. Elodie couldn't help but hope that such a celebration would occur in her time at Hogwarts.
"The ballroom is off limits if it's not being used. So, what are you doing in here of all places?"
Elodie squeaked in alarm at the unfamiliar voice, quickly whipping around to face the stranger. Much to her relief, it didn't appear to be a Prefect reprimanding her, but rather another first year student. A Slytherin, as far as Elodie could tell by her uniform, and the smile on her face seemed friendly, so it didn't appear that Elodie was in trouble. Giving a sheepish smile and turning pink at being caught, Elodie self-consciously rubbed the back of her neck.
"I...got lost," she admitted with a small laugh, glancing aside in something almost akin to embarrassment. "Annnnd I sorta figured why not appreciate this--" She gestured around her with a slow twirl at the grand room, smile wide and radiant. "--while I'm here! Probably not gonna be able to find it again, with my sense of direction." She gave another laugh, turning back to face the stranger just in time to see her stick out her hand. Elodie lit up at the introduction, forever delighted with the opportunity to make new friends, and shook her hand eagerly.
"I'm Elodie! It's a pleasure to meet you," she introduced herself warmly, retracting her hand and clasping her hands behind her back. "Now, why are you here?"

The girl shook her hand warmly and Mia smiled, delighted to meet someone new.
"It's a long story but I was late and going to the Trophy Room, and then I heard you in here, some how, I dont know, and couldn't resist checking this room. It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Mia gestured at the magnificent ceiling and the carvings around her, smiling. The way the walls curled and bent? It was to die for. Back in London, Mia's grandmother would host balls all the time, and Mia would sneak off with Scott and chocolate, and laugh until her lips turned purple at what Scott said. The balls were often too fancy for her taste, and she would be dressed in long flowing oufits that would squeeze her, even with her slim frame. Mia snapped back to attention, looking at the young Hufflepuff.
"I've never seen anything like it."
Mia twirled and walked to the center, gazing up at the grand ceiling.
