What This Night Needs is Music
Soon to be interacting with @Paige Grant
It was a Tuesday evening and students began to file out of the Great Hall after supper. Some would probably head outside to the Courtyard to enjoy some chilly fresh air that the Scottish Highlands would provide while others might enjoy the same out on the grounds of Hogwarts. Others would retreat to their Common Rooms to converse further with friends and others might head to the library or to their dormitories to finish forgotten or procrastinated assignments.
Simon was caught up on his school work currently and actually he hadn't even gone to the Great Hall for supper that evening. He had this odd sort of occurrence where he always felt hungry and that was a normal to him but he didn't go to eat in the Great Hall because he knew it wouldn't do him much good. He could eat and yet that hunger would always be there. It always had been there - ever since he could remember. It was insatiable and never satisfied.
He had spent a little bit of time in his Common Room, sitting on the sofa near the fireplace while he read up on some of the various historical events within the wizarding world from a book that he had loaned out from the school library. Still, when a chapter came to an end, he bookmarked it and decided to change up his evening. He went to his dormitory, grabbed his guitar, and made his way up to the Fourth Floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and into the Rehearsal Room where he could practice without bothering others. With everyone initially at supper, he had the room to himself.

Paige had not been expecting so much work. What with classes and homework, she didn't have time to work on her hip hop. Bringing her work to dinner, she scribbled as she ate her dinner. She finished early and shoved her papers into her bag. She wasn't in the mood to listnet to the story of how this girl cut herself with paper. She grabbed some food to go and headed out with a wave.
She might as well go practice her hip hop, she decided. She reached into her bag to make sure she had the routine. She debated about where she should go and decided on the rehearsal room.
She quickly changed into a tank top and yellow face leggings. She made her way there, all the while humming to the beat in her head.
Since she didn't have a boo box or anything, she just walked in and took her place. She didn't even notice the boy sitting there.
" 1...2..3 4 5 6 7 8" She started her routine. Spin, crouch, jump. Side to side, up down up down. Flip, to your knees to the ground hop up... all of those things where somewhere in there. Go wild.

Providing music for @Paige Grant
He was taking the time to tighten the strings on his guitar when she came in and he watched as she made her way across the floor of the Rehearsal Room. It was obvious she didn't see him over in the corner and he was okay with that. In fact, he was rather interested to see why she came to the room.
There was a group of students that participated in a ballet club there at Hogwarts, there were some that came to practice on the piano to refreshen the skills they had learned back home. But what he saw rather surprised him. The girl came in, counted out a measure of eight, and then began to move around the floor.
He watched her for a bit, just taking in the type of dance she was doing and then he did his best to begin playing on his guitar to mimic her dancing, to create something that would go along to her beat, to give her something to dance to. He still did this all without a word, curious to see how long it would take before she would notice that he was there or that there was now music provided to the steps that she was doing.

Paige kept dancing until the very end, and she never even noticed the wonderful music of the boy sitting in this very room. She of course had been the one to intrude while he was in here but she didn't know that meaning she didn't feel guilt. Once she finished she finally realized something. She had been dancing to music. Oh. Last time she checked music didn't come from thin air (at least in the muggle world.) So she was confused for a slight moment before she realized she, in fact, was not alone therefore she wasn't in the room with a very talented ghost.
"Hey, I uh- " She shook her head and laughed. "That was awesome playing! It was you, right? We aren't in this room with a very talented ghost?" She said, smiling and throwing in some humor while at it. She shook her head. "But that was too good and lively to come from the dead. You're really talented!" She held out her hand to the boy. "I'm Paige, by the way. Are you a Hufflepuff, by any chance? You look super familiar. Like, more familiar than the rest of the faces all around Hogwarts, of course."

"Yeah, Simon Kincaid. I think we've got Herbology together but I'm at the other side of the Greenhouse," he said and laughed. Plus in that class he was always taking notes because the professor talked far too quickly for his liking.
"I hope you didn't mind the music. I had my fill of the library for the day and thought I'd give my eyes a rest and come play some music. Your dance was nice," and much different from most of the girls that would come to the Rehearsal Room to practice. So often it was girls from the Pointe Club at the school, practicing their ballet. They would do their leg lifts and their turns, trying to be as graceful as possible. They usually got upset if he walked in on them and certainly wouldn't be open to them playing while they were there.
But this was different. Her dancing was open, it was free. He could tell it was fun for her and something she did so effortlessly. It was certainly a nice change in pace from all that he was used to there.
"If I am interrupting at all, by all means, I don't mind heading out," he began, "but if you don't mind the interaction, why don't you sit for a little while." He opened up his bag and pulled out a cellophane baggie of lemon drops and offered her one. "Tell me a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what's your family like? What did you like to do before coming here?"

getting to know @Simon Kincaid
So Simon was his name! That was a nice name. He mentioned having herbology together. Paige nodded. "Probably. Yeah. " She thinks she remembered him. Yeah, the note taker. "Arenyou the one who takes notes? I've never seen someone write so fast." Paige could never. She could barely read the sentence, 'Getting to know your plants' without getting a head ache. She was dumb.
She shook her head. "Oh, not at all! Yeah, the library is not my favorite. I mean, only reading. A few words gives me head aches and I'm not very good with reading in general. It's so frustrating at times. " She shook her head once more when he mentioned leaving. He then asked her some things and she sat down where he gestured. He took out a bag of lemon drops and offered her one. Paige eagerly took it. Lemon drops were her FAVORITE. Thanks! She spoke eagerly. She sucked on it before speaking. "I am from Hamphire, England. I have one older brother, named Ross. Ne and him like to watch scary things together. I have an older sister who is almost never home, and a baby brother named Jack.
My parents are therapists, so they like to ask us how everything makes us feel constantly. I like to play basketball, and before Hogwarts I would ride my skate board around the block. It was awesome. What about you?

Getting to know @Paige Grant
Simon smiled, glad that the girl was friendly and talkative. The students that kept themselves so guarded were hard to get to know and he was a friendly talkative person himself. "That sounds fun, having someone to prank constantly," it was a lot like his relationship with his friends back in London, although he knew that they'd have his back at the same time. It wasn't all fun and games.
Having parents that always asked how you felt...Simon couldn't imagine. No wonder Paige here liked to spend so much time outside, playing basketball or being on her skateboard. Those were very cool hobbies. Simon had done basketball in gym class at school but never once been on a skateboard. That seemed to take some skill and balance that he wasn't sure he had.
"Me, I'm from London - born and raised. South Kensington area," he threw in, just in case she knew it well. "Back there it's just me and my Aunt Maggie. She's amazing...couldn't ask for better," he smiled. He wrote her CONSTANTLY, even while being there at Hogwarts. He told her all about his classes and his professors and his friends. She always wrote back. They had a very strong and solid relationship.
"Before here I liked to just spend time with friends. I like reading, playing the piano, the guitar, singing. Went to church often, did some volunteer work. I played Squash for my school team back in London and learned hockey." He wasn't a complex person at all.

Interacting: @Simon Kincaid Mentioning: Eyes forward, the past is behind youShe offered Simon a wide grin and nodded. "Exactly. Although he's great to talk to, as well." Paige didn't know many people from London. But now she did, at least. "Oh, I think I've been around there before." She said, tapping her chin. She looked up as she scrunched up her face, trying to remember.
Giving up on trying to remember when she went there, she listened to his next statement. His face showed clear love for his aunt and Paige couldn't help but smile some more at this. She nodded. "Yeah, I bet she is." She said. A small voice in the back of her head wondered why it was just him and his aunt, but she pushed it down and stayed engaged in the conversation with this boy. She nodded to show she was listening.
Wow. Simon seemed like a very nice guy. He volunteered? He constantly went to church? Paige's family never got to church on a daily basis, what with the baby and all that. She slightly tilted her head. "Wow. You sound like a good kid. " She said, giving him a smile. "Hockey sounds good, I tried to play, but it never stuck." She did enjoy hockey.

House talk with @Paige Grant
"Guess that's why I'm the Golden Boy in Hufflepuff," he smiled, joking of course. Paige had said he sounded like a good kid and well, he was. He had a strong faith and it guided him to be the best person he could be - being caring to others, empathetic, helpful. His aunt was similar in the way she was and it brushed off on him through the years.
Still, there was that newfound realization about himself though and what he truly was and he couldn't help but sometimes think that was something of a monster. Half vampire. Vampires were vicious and bloodthirsty. They had that unsettling aura about them, sharp nails, sharp teeth. He didn't want that for himself.
Simon realized that he was away with his own thoughts for a little too long and probably needed to get back to the conversation. "So how has the Hufflepuff house been treating you? I know so many that said their families were disappointed in them getting in the house of the badgers -that it was some sort of let down. I didn't come from a wizarding family, or well, my mum had been in Gryffindor, but I didn't know of any of this growing up. I wonder why some people think that. I mean if you really look at the traits of Hufflepuffs in general, we aren't much different than the Slytherins. Ambitions, driven, dedicated, loyal, unafraid of toil. I like to think that the Hufflepuff traits are really all in the same with the one distinguishing factor that a Hufflepuff would go to the aid of someone else to help assist them with all those traits in hand, whereas traditionally it seems a Slytherin would look out for themselves. ...Not that everyone fits those stereotypes though."
