February 13th. One day before Valentine's day and it felt really awkward. Last Valentine's day, the former Professor for Flying, Professor Bercegeay, had organized a Valentine's tea in the small hall. Opeila had spent it with Gris, her friend Alan and Ruka- or at least that had been her plan, before one absolutely maniac dorm mate of hers went off and injured other people. Then suddenly she had been helping Evelynn Decipio, who had some boiling tea poured over her, to treat her burns. When she returned, Ruka had a concussion and Opeila had to... Sort of carry him to the hospital wing, while Professor Bercegeay had great fun to make jokes about their non-existent 'great love'.

Right, and then Ruka had puked over her shoes. Amazing day.

Hopefully it would be different this time! Opeila had actually risked it and signed up for the Valentine's blind date the next day. How bad could it become? The second year was kind of worried that she would be paired with someone, who was actually looking for a relationship- It wouldn't be happening, Opeila had enough relationship for at least a year now- but other than that, maybe she would meet someone new and spend a nice evening making new friends, right?
Seriously, she couldn't quite understand the fuss that the others made about it. Just stay normal, then it won't be awkward.

But today was for decorating cookies. Opeila had taken part in a sweets decorating errand before, but they had done cupcakes. A Ravenclaw girl, Breana, had showed her how to do frosting with two colours.
Cookies would be easier right?
Sometime in the afternoon, Opeila showed up in the great hall. One thing that she liked about great hall errands was, that everyone suddenly gave a damn about housetables. This was friends having fun together, no isolation of houses. Right... friends. Since when did Opeila always show up alone when there was an errand going? She used to try and strengthen the bonds inside Slytherin, but now... she just avoided people. Avoided socialization really.

Opeila sat down on one of the benches at the Ravenclaw table and pulled over a plate and placed six cookies on it. She used to decorate cookies with her dad. Her mum barely spent time with them despite being at home and her grandmother was simply not the kind of person to bake cookies, but her dad had always been down for things like that. It brought some sort of normality into the house of sadness that they normally seemed to live in.

Since she was small, Opeila had always, always preferred to put melted chocolate on top of her cookies. The Slytherin was definitely one of those kids, who just couldn't help themselves when there was chocolate near- ok, maybe she wasn't that bad. That didn't mean that she would say no when someone offered her some. Opeila pulled over a bowl with chocolate frosting and put it on four of her cookies. Three or four of them she would give away, she had decided. The others she would keep for herself. Opeila didn't have cookies in ages!

On the two remaining, she put pink frosting. Now she would wait for the pink ones to dry and out sprinkles on the chocolate ones. Two of them got some colourful sprinkles, the two others got pink, heart-shaped ones.

There seemed to be quite the fuss about Valentine's Day. There had been the ball put on by the PURE Club, an announcement for an errand to decorate and send out cookies and sweets, and then something about a supper on the evening of the day itself. Evelynn hadn't really paid attention to the latter given that she wasn't one to participate in anything that remotely resembled romance. Afterall, according to her mother, "there would be no dating until after she was married". But moreover, she simply hadn't the time nor the interest. Quidditch, homework, prefectorial duties, and everything else were enough to keep her occupied. Nevermind another person; she was married to her duty.

Of course, all work and no play made for a dull day. What did it hurt to take a break now and again? Evelynn hadn't failed to participate during the cupcake decorating errand the previous year, nor in sharing some baked goods with Mister Dunaid over the summer when the students' confectionery skills had been called in aid. Although baking was more up her mother's alley than her own, she did find it relaxing. Plus, her sweet tooth would be sorely remiss should she pass this by without at least doing her minimal part.

By the time Evelynn arrived, there were a few that had already gathered and begun on the task. Cookies had been laid out by the half-dozen in more place settings than she cared to count, and she could see house elves running to and fro at the behest of students with what appeared to be decorative ingredients. As it was Saturday, Evelynn's typical school uniform had been exchanged for dark leggings and a long-sleeve grey knit dress over a white blouse, co-captain and prefect badges affixed to the lapels. With a demure smile and wave directed in Inda Wyllt's direction, Evelynn entered the fray to find herself a place to sit. A lone figure caught her attention.

"Are you making those for anyone in particular?" Evelynn asked on approach, giving a cursory examination of the six cookies.

The chocolate ones with multi-coloured sprinkles reminded her of christmas bobbles. The other two with melted chocolate that sported the pink heart-shaped confections seemed more traditionally Valentine. She was tempted to ask if any of them would be going to Athanatos, but as she wasn't quite certain where Seilun and the Ravenclaw stood, she thought better of it.

"How are you?" she asked instead, shifting her indecisive mind from cookies to companion. Concern etched itself in the faint lines on her forehead as her gaze panned over the Slytherin's profile. "What happened on the train… that must have been frightening. Do you know who those people were?"

Mind made up to sit with Seilun for the errand—provided that she wasn't entirely rebuffed—Evelynn slid onto the bench next to the brunette and pulled a tray of cookies closer. With elbows propped up onto the table and chin settling onto interlaced fingers, she stared down at the baked goods, entirely uncertain what to do with them. Lifting her attention, she let it wander from table to nearby table in search of inspiration. Her gaze came to settle on a vat of soft green icing.

"Lane~!" A Gryffindor boy she recognized was walking nearish to the table with the icing. "Might I be terribly imposing and ask you to pass me that green icing? Oh, and also the piping sleeve next to it as well?" With a pleading smile, she nudged her chin—still resting lightly on the backs of her knuckles—in the direction of the other table.

What an odd time to be alive in the castle, with the fickle firsties giggling throughout the halls it was with great relief that he found himself alone for the chance to be alone for once. With his reputation turning its tides with the student body, it seemed that he'd be needing some sort of familiarity or even normality within his social circle; someone he'd probably not be so hostile with. This specifically, wasn't the most interesting affair he'd be taking part in the next few days, of course, but he figured he'd try and at least give it a shot.

With trepidation, the boy had thought that the event that'd be occurring would require him to bake the cookies that they'd be decorating. Thankfully, that would not be the case as the vast array of cookies spread out for the students made his worries go away in an instant. Instead, he was now to be focusing on a slightly more artistic side of things when decorating these treats. Thinking to himself though, he didn't think his artistic abilities with his woodcarving would be able to be easily translated over towards the toppings these sweet cookies required.

This was supposed to be a 'quiet before the storm' type of moment, as he had been made aware that a pairing was made for him at the actual Valentines' Day event. Maybe a time to get his head straight and not to think of all the nonsense he'd been having to deal with lately, mainly of his own making, but regardless nonsense indeed. As he picked through the selection of cookies that were available to him, he scooped up a batch of 6 of the plain white vanilla-looking ones. These would be easy to use as a canvas for the butchery that would soon occur.

Taking his tray within one hand, his opposite rotated the wand through the digits of his hand, spinning the ivory-colored aspen wood wand with ease. This was a common feature, tic, of the boy that never let his wand ever be too far away from him. Moving through the gaggle of girls guffawing over their own hideous creations, he made his way slowly towards a lone table that held the icing that is used to top his sweet treats. Unfortunately, he had to stow his wand within the lining of his black ripped jeans before he could carry any more, after having done so, he'd go ahead and select an assortment of colors that were based around the houses of the school.

When he was ready, he'd start to make his way over towards a lone table, somewhere quiet where he could just focus upon what he was doing and not be bothered by the horde. Zykeal hadn't made it far when the sound of his last name was called out, he winced, no one really ever called him that unless he was in trouble. Expecting some sort of prefect or professor to chastise him, he turned slowly, peeking through the corner of his eye before committing to the full rotation. When he spotted just his house's Co-Cap, he didn't know if this was a desirable outcome to the former assumption, but, at least he'd be able to talk his way out of the unnecessary troubles of a quidditch player if it was needed. After a moment though, he noticed a familiar and somewhat friendly face sitting next to the girl and he decided in an instant that it wasn't the worst table to sit at.

"What is a..." oh, this thing that he had also gathered to be able to use the icing. Honestly, he hadn't a clue what it actually was until she had labeled it something, but, he figured if he was going to squeeze out some goop onto the cookies he acquired, it could at least help with the display, "Sure, sure..." he offered, walking over towards the pair of girls. Shifting himself around the side of the table opposite of the two, he'd sit down and slide over the green icing he had.

A lopsided smile was produced from the boy as he settled his wand next to him upon the table after having produced it from his waistline, always within reach, within sight. Looking over towards Eve for a moment, he nodded and asked in a nice, but, sincere tone, "Just Zyk please," and then he'd turn to look over towards Opeila, "Oy' love, whose heart you plan on breaking tomorrow?" he questioned, his head canting to the side with a wicked little grin to accompany the motion. It was no surprise to him that she would entangle herself into something that'd end up going wrong, the girl had the reputation for it after all.
This post is not for the errand, but, to engage in RP

Opeila had expected someone to join her eventually, she had never been sitting alone in an errand, even if it had been her plan at the beginning, but she didn't expect it to be Evelynn Decipio. Hadn't she been thinking of her only a moment ago? Hopefully there was no maniac with tea around this time. The Gryffindor skipped the greetings and asked Opeila if those cookies were for anyone particular?

"Yes, me. At least two of them. The others... I'll see. Maybe I'll send one or two to Flash.", Opeila thought out loud. "Er- He is my best friend.", she quickly added, hoping that Evelynn didn't get a wrong idea. "Are you going to decorate them for anyone?" Whatwashisname- Bastille? The boy from last year? Opeila hadn't seen him around in a while...

Evelynn asked her about the train, catching Opeila off guard. The Slytherin froze in her movement. She hadn't expected the girl to ask her about it, nor was she particularly keen on talking about it. That day had been terrifying, bringing her nightmares back.
Opeila had been held hostage by a man dressed up as cowboy and then got to watch Athanatos getting beaten unconscious after trying to defend her.

She had given Vladimir her coat and ripped her sweater into shreds, trying to bandage both of their wounds when they were stranded outside in the snow. Back in the castle, Opeila had caught the worst flu she had in a while... "I don't know who they were." The Slytherin didn't answer Evelynn's first question, nor did she look at her. Opeila's mental health had been pushed to the very edge last summer and the second year had never truly recovered. She lived with those mental scars and she could do that, as long as she wasn't asked to talk about it.

When the Gryffindor called a familiar name, Opeila looked up again. It seemed that Zyk had decided to join the errand as well and Evelynn had stopped him to ask him to hand her some tools. He then turned to Opeila, asking her what heart she was going to break tomorrow. "Stooop..." Opeila groaned, a little overly dramatic and buried her face in her hands. "I am not a heartbreaker. I'm not even exactly sure where that rumor comes from." She shook her head. "Well, for our information, no one's. I don' have a date. I signed up for this blinddating thing and plan to just spend a friendly evening with whomever I get paired up with."

Opeila grabbed a cookie from one of the plates and threw it towards Zyk. "Here, catch and join us.", she... more or less asked him.
