Lucy had gone to the Owlery to send a letter to her parents about her days in Hogwarts. It was quite early for her as she had wanted to send the owl as early as possible, The young girl rubbed her eyes and yawned. Everywhere was still quiet as every step she made was followed by the echo of it.
''Why does everything sound so loud geez'' She silently whispered as she saw one of the owls sitting there. ''You are the one I used last time weren't you?'' She asked as if she would get a response. ''Or was it you?'' She said looking at another owl.

She sighed and took out the letter she had written and read a part of it. ''I hope everything is okay with the both of you, Life here in Hogwarts is amazing'' She smiles while she reads it. She quickly closes the letter and ties it on the owl.

She heard steps echoing through the hall but ignores it thinking it's just another student coming to the owlery. She pets the little owl and smiles at it ''Aren't you just adorable'' She glides her thumb along the birds head. ''You remind me of the owl I have back at home..I used to talk to it since I didn't have friends to talk to'' She laughed at her own statement as she petted the bird once more.

Alan was skipping towards the owlery, with a letter pressed against his chest in order not to loose it. Loosing this letter would be honestly disastrous! It took him an hour to write those three pages of parchment. As always he tried to kept his handwriting as near as possible, so that his friend could decipher the words without problem. He could remember the first weeks of their friendship, when they mostly had to guess what the other was writing, because they were not used to each others writing styles. But now they were just chatting via owl as if they would sit next to each other and actually talk. It was very cool to know someone.

When Alan shortly after arrived in the owlery, he never noticed the other person being inside the place. So when he rushed to the owls and tripped, he fell against her, causing the both of them to fall over. "Ouch!" chirped Alan and tried to get a look at the person he just ran over.

"I'm sorry, I just haven't seen you here!" said the boy embarrassed as he quickly stood up and hold out his hand for the girl to take and stand up.

Lucy played with the owl once more as she felt herself falling onto the ground ''Owww'' She mumbled as she saw a boy standing in front of her. ''I-it's okay don't worry about it'' She said giving the boy a sly smile. She took his hand and quickly hopped off the ground dusting some of the dirt of her robes.
''Its quite early isn't it? Wasn't expecting students to actually be up heh..'' She let out a small giggle her own statement and looked back at her owl as she kept talking to the boy.
''I'm guessing you are sending an owl too?'' That was a stupid question to ask but she wanted to keep the conversation up so it wasn't a silent room with two students.
''Yeah I'm sending one to my parents, Just so I can see what they have been up to and to tell them that i'm okay'' The girl smiled once more as she turned around to face the boy. ''So whats your name?'' She asked as she let a grin grow on her face.

''Oou~Pretty name'' She chirped, ''Name's Lucy,Lucy Valentinova Howell'' She took out her hand to shake the boy's hand. ''Uhh..So I see you are a Gryffindor...Haven't seen you around much.'' She says trying to remember if she had seen him before. ''Maybe because I spend most of my time in the school's library'' She laughs as she covers her mouth so she doesn't make a lot of noise.

Alan smiled slightly after he had helped the girl to get up. He felt a bit stupid for not noticing her before, causing him to ran her over. This was an embarrassing first encounter!
At the girls remark about the time, he shrugged. "My parents advised me to go to the owlery early, because the owls wouldn't be as moody as they are when students interrupt their naps" giggled Alan, while he looked around for an owl. He had magically shrunk the parchment, so that the owl would be able to carry it without problem.

"And yes! I'm sending an owl to a friend, I need to tell her everything about this school!" grinned the boy mischievously. It was funny to have someone to send an owl to. He never had many friends and so his parents had organised him a pen pal some time ago and they were sending owls since then.

"My name is Alan. Alan Vanes! Yours?" Asked Alan back looking at her with childish interest. She looked funny and was probably not strict too. "I was in the library sometimes in order to research for homework or other topics that interest me! I can't wait until Care of magical creatures starts!"
