"AJ", Bloom, Everly & Lindsey Valentines

AJ walked in tandem with the other students. Ascending the Astronomy tower. He couldn't quite explain why his heart was beating as fast as it was. He had signed himself up on the bulletin board thinking this would be a chance to meet with students he might not have met before and get to know each other, completely not realizing that it was a Valentines day event until far far too late.

Now it seemed the poor young teen was on his way to a blind date. He fixed his coat and tidied up his hair a bit, readjusting his beanie to make his wavy locks as appealing as possible. He also shuffled his scarf slightly, trying to get it at its most attractive angle. Perhaps tartan patterning wasn't the best pick for today, but at least it was warm.

As he got upstairs he looked around in bewilderment as he tried to figure out what he was supposed to do. Soon though he spotted the items that other students seemed to be grabbing.

'Mee us weel grab wun uf eech.' He thought silently to himself as he shrugged. Taking a rose, a bag of sweets, and one of the cupcakes. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with them, but perhaps having all three would grant him some kind of boon.

The number engraved itself on the blank tags and he raised an eyebrow as his questions only rose. He looked around the room again and only now noticed the balloons. He peered at his number and triple checked it to make sure it was correct before heading to his corresponding balloon. He didn't sit yet, instead sampling a biscuit as he waited.

Everly was starting to think that this was a very, very bad idea.

There were large floating hearts all decorated around the stairwell. Everly took a tentative step, approaching the Astronomy Tower. Just catching a glimpse of the tables and numbers as she walked in and approached the table, her steps slowed as she took in the large, pink and red scene.

Peh. Romance.

If the overelaborate decorations weren't clue enough, it was the doubt holed up inside her when she analyzed the scene. It seemed as if she were early; many of the open spots at the tables were empty and Everly was momentarily confused, wondering if she was supposed to pick a seat. What was the point of the term "blind date", then?

She had that small moment of aha when her gaze fell on the food and desserts. Her hand reached out and held up one of the cupcakes, and the label began to shimmer.

Everly was beginning to enjoy herself until one of the randomly floating, obnoxious, large red hearts whacked her in the face.

A scowl on her face as she backed up slowly, her focus returned on the label and she could make out a number on it - 24. She spotted the table with a large 24 quickly, taking a seat on one of the cushions. There seemed to be another boy who had already arrived. Everly's gaze drifted quickly over to the two empty cushions, indicating that there were two more yet to join their party. Busying herself with making hot chocolate for herself, she sat back in the cushion.

"Um," she began, having no idea what to say, mentally chiding herself.

All there was left to do was wait.

Valentines Day. How intriguing.

Slowly climbing the grand staircases from Hufflepuff’s basement to the Astronomy Tower, Lindsey sighed a little bit. Merlin knew that she wouldn’t, and didn’t sign up for this errand, but…

Edmund should, and would get jinxed.

She sniffed a bit when coming up wing the idea of her brother signing up for her. But okay, Lindsey Springhall was always optimistic, so let it be so. Maybe she would have a chance of meeting someone she didn’t have the pleasure to get known to before? Blind dates didn’t sound that appealing to her (well, only if you tell her that the one she’s going to meet had a name starting with W and S), but blind new friends was definitely awesome. She had always loved the idea of getting to know new people, and maybe that’s why she’s placed in Hufflepuff.

Upon arriving at the Astronomy Tower, the gorgeous decoration dragged her in. The young badger couldn’t help observing those massive red hearts, and — sweets! They didn’t say that they were serving sweets…aha! Chocolates were always the badger’s favorite — her chocolate brown eyes sparkled. Grabbing a bag of sweets and a rose (it’s Valentines anyways!), she started to move on. Oops…cupcakes. The most important thing. With a grin, she reached out her right hand and picked one up. The label shimmered. 24.

Twenty four. Not very bad. In silence she slowly walked toward the spot. It should be a group of four, if she hadn’t mistaken (for there’re four cushions)? Good enough, so that meant three new friends. Lindsey liked that. Since her first year she had met too many people, the ones she liked, and disliked. But a great deal of them had disappeared through the years, and she missed them dearly. She spotted two people already there. A boy was standing, and another girl was sitting, sinking herself in the cushion. She couldn’t see their faces clear, but she presumed that they weren’t acquainted before.

“Hi there…” she slowly approached, and suddenly stopped. Quietly observing the two, she wasn’t sure if she’d gonna introduce herself or sit down. The boy seemed of her age, and probably she had seen him in classes (also, he’s one of the dueling captains, right?), while the girl was unfamiliar. It’s possible that she’s a first year, cause she seemed younger. A bit laid back, she slowly started. “Pleasure to meet you two! The name’s Lindsey, Lindsey Springhall. And you guys are…?”

She decided to sink into the cushions. It seemed soft…like the sofas in the Hufflepuff common room, which Lindsey especially loved on a rainy cold evening. So she sat down, threw a lemon drop into her mouth, and then waited quietly, both for the other person’s arrival and these two’s answers. She started to believe, this would gonna be fun.

WHY DID I SIGN UP TO THIS?

Bloom was having second thoughts whether or not to attend the Valentine's Day event or not. She hadn't been herself in a long time and she signed up thinking this was going to do the trick to get her back to normal. What? Being one on one with a guy was going to get her back to how she used to be? It only made her even more anxious about the night's event.

Not knowing what to wear, she threw together whatever she had. Bloom was not as fortunate like her other peers. She could not go out and get an outfit for such an event, nor did she have a lot of outfits. Her family gave her all the necessary clothings that she would need for a year; nothing more, nothing less. In turn, Bloom wore her uniform skirt with a nice black top. It wasn't anything stylish or fancy, but at least she was wearing clothes! Her hair was dropped down and her bangs swept to the side. She was ready to embrace the inevitable.

When she entered the event, she saw the decorations and loved it. It was almost as if she walked into a dreamland of red and pink. It was like a little girl's fantasy. Walking further, she saw a choice of three different items to choose from: a rose, a bag of sweets or a cupcake. Bloom went for the bag of sweets. Nothing could go wrong with a goodie bag that was easy to take back to the dorm room. When she grabbed the bag, she saw that a number appeared: 24. She looked at the number and looked around the room to see where it would connect to. Alas, there were balloons with numbers on it, too. Bloom made her way, finding her designated number, her heart thumping the closer she felt she was heading to her table.

When she got there, she was relieved to see that there were three other people. Perhaps it was not a "blind date" after all. Bloom took the next available seat and sat down.

"This was not to be expected," she said point-blank, wondering why there were three girls and one guy at their table. Was it a mistake? She thought that no matter the person, it would have been a one on one sort of thing. Wasn't that the point of Valentine's Day? Unless she was mistaken.

Bloom looked at the other three faces to see that they were also very young. She was, most likely, the oldest one there. Great... I shouldn't have come, she thought to herself, finding age an issue in getting to know those around her.

"I'm Bloom Silverton," she introduced herself to the others. Might as well stay for the food (or whatever else was happening) rather than go back to the dorm. Everyone was practicely here anyways and it didn't hurt to try and make some acquaintances... Even though they were much younger than she.

AJ's 'date' arrived, a Gryffindor he recognised, one of the many Eves that resided in the lions den, though her full name he couldn't exactly place. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped when he saw another girl approached. This one was less familiar, though he probably had seen her around the school before.

He began to worry he'd started standing at the wrong table like an absolute lemon, but when he double-checked his number it was definitely what stood above the table 24

His brow furrowed for a moment as he tried to think about what could've gone wrong. Perhaps they had the wrong number?...No, like him he could tell they were sure that they were in the right place.

He opened his mouth to speak again, but stopped when he spotted a very recent and familiar face. That of Bloom Silverton, he smiled to her. Perhaps she would be able to sort this whole problem out.

However, she just came to stand at the table as well. Which caused even more cogs to start whirring in the young Scotsman's mind.

The Gryffindor girl began with a simple statement to break the silence. Not overly informative, but useful nonetheless. The next to speak was the Hufflepuff, obviously hoping to disperse some of the awkwardness. Third was the Raven, clearly unamused by the turn of events.

"Ehm...wull, am AJ...yoo ull look greet bee tha wee!" He gave a short, slightly nervous compliment to the three. It was no lie, they looked fantastic, all three of them, and he started to wonder if he perhaps should've worn his "Lady-Killer" kilt as his father described it.

Well there was one positive, out of three date's not one had stood him up. At least...not yet...

Sitting around awkwardly did nothing to help Everly nor reassure herself. She was still doubtful at this point about this whole thing and what was going on. Everly tipped her head sideways curiously. The boy looked familiar one of the many eve's? really, that's the best you can do? xD, but Everly couldn't quite place it. Maybe she'd saw him around school before?

When Everly spotted another girl arrived, her mind immediately went ohshootthere'sMOREpeopletotalkto?justgreatUGH. The girl... Lindsey, was friendly, and Everly liked her immediately. At least she had to decency to introduce herself. The next girl who came definitely came off as cross and cold. She was also older than Everly by several years. "Don't look at me," Everly said with a little shrug. "I have no idea what the heck I'm doing here."

Was this some sort of sick joke?

Finally the first guy decided to introduce himself. Everly wasn't sure how to respond to his comment, so she decided to introduce herself too. "Well... I'm Everly. Everly Charlton. And... uh... you look good too, I suppose?"

"So... uh... where are you all from?" Everly asked, stumbling over her words, aiming to start some friendly chitchat. "And... uh... what's your favorite color? Mine's pink. Which, I say is definitely hated on too much," Everly mused lightly, with a hopeful smile on her face.

Alright, so AJ, Everly, and Bloom…she silently repeated the three names for a few times to remember them clearly. The badger had seen three potential friends, and suddenly began to like this event. If it’s one on one, she would surely feel embarrassed. Like, two were disastrous, but four were harmonies. AJ was possibly in the same year as her, Everly younger, and Bloom the eldest. A’ight, nice. This would surely be fun.

“Thanks.” she gave the boy a genuine smile. “You all look great, actually.” indeed, people all look great. Lindsey had confidence in her looks, but not in her dressing. She was not creative on matching clothes, and usually school robes were good enough for her. Dumb actions like wearing leggings in December (welp, that’s another long story related to a date) was something she had done. But…you’ve got to at least look nice on such a friend-making day, right?

Nodding encouragingly to Everly like she usually did, she listened to the brunette’s attempt on starting the conversation. “Well, if you mean house…it’s Hufflepuff. But if residence…I’d say York. Though I grew up in London.” she shrugged a little bit mentioning York, suggesting that she wasn’t really in favor of the place. Alright, to be fair, York was a nice city, just not liked by Lynn, mostly because the residents there. Oh, there would eventually one day that she’d get her revenge on her great grandfather…

The badger chuckled slightly when Everly mentioned her favorite color was pink. It seemed that it was a commonly liked color among girls, huh? She had to admit, that when she was young, she just loved pink. But not now anymore. Although still, she did not hate it - although her mortal enemy Miss Imogen loved it. But maybe she shouldn’t pick on other’s favorite colors. If Imogen Reans liked it, then let it be -

“For me it’s lilac.” she answered with a small grin. “You know, like the flower…it seems beautiful to me.” she concluded softly. “Pink color isn’t that bad to me actually. I really like red color mixing with pink - like magenta. Quite gorgeous.” adding her personal opinion, she became silent, waiting on AJ and Bloom’s answers. Every had brought up an interesting topic which she hadn’t invested time into learning before - so now it seemed quite fun.

A smile shown on her lips. Possibly she wouldn’t jinx Edmund anymore…sometimes, but only sometimes, her brother indeed knew well what she was interested in and would feel comfortable with…

Bloom crossed her arms, feeling the thread of her black top on her arms. She wasn't cold, but rather feeling a tad bit uncomfortable. There were too many new faces for her and it seemed that some of them might have known each other or seen each other around. Bloom was, in comparison, older, and would not necessarily share the same class with all of them.

She remembered the Gryffindor boy from a previous encounter. Even to this day, Bloom was hard of understanding him. His accent was incredibly thick, definitely not of her region of islands. Bloom heard the other two either take in or not entirely like what he said as a compliment. Bloom just gave the Gryffindor a small smile to show that it was appreciated.

One of the other girls who Bloom instantly forgot their name asked them what their favorite color was. It was a nice attempt of breaking the ice for conversation. "I've always been a fan of green. It just always looks good with any color," she said quietly.

Bloom couldn't help but to look at the other girls who did look so nice for the night. Bloom looked down at her outfit... She was wearing her school uniform. What was she thinking? She could have borrowed a friends outfit or something. Oh well.

"Interesting that our setup is not even, what with one boy and the three of us," she observed.
