Ergonomics of the site
Good evening to all,
In my work of cleaning up the site, I wanted to tackle a huge frustration that has been chasing me since the launch of the third version of the site: removing the panel at the bottom of the page. This one was the legacy of the questionable ergonomics of an old version of the website, and I hadn't found how to integrate everything in a single bar at the top, which was my initial goal.
However, this bottom bar continued to cause a lot of problems:
But I hope you'll like this mechanism, much simpler (in my eyes, almost obvious !) !
I continue my work of rewriting. I will rewrite a lot of small mechanics (navigation buttons in the pages in particular) but there will be no more major changes, rather some fine-tuning!
I also spent six hours on a brand new interactive menu at the top left, where each time I clicked on a place, the menu slid to the left to show the subplaces. But it was a bit cumbersome to make several clicks to go from one link to another, so I threw it all away...
- a navigation at the bottom is unusual and not very intuitive; moreover, it "framed" the site a bit, giving it a bit suffocating from my point of view;
- it was very illogical to navigate through the site from both the top left and bottom left menu; this point was a source of immense confusion for many newcomers;
- the search was almost invisible;
- the links to the messages, which take up a lot of space, could not all be displayed, even though many of you requested access to drafts or other links; many of these links were only accessible from a hidden drop-down menu;
- it was not always correctly accessible: on iOS, each click had to be made twice (with a little scrolling) because the software thought you wanted to access the browser menu; on Firefox, when hovering over a link, the browser would display the URL over it.
- the menu at the top left is used to walk from one place to another ; a link has been added to walk around the world ;
- a new feather menu allows you to access all the shortcuts related to the messages: unread messages, new messages (the last messages, which do not disappear even if you have already looked at them), RP, favorites, drafts, and search. Tip : a click on the pen allows you to directly see new messages;
But I hope you'll like this mechanism, much simpler (in my eyes, almost obvious !) !

Ergonomics of the site
For the bottom bar, well... I've changed my mind!
It's too important for good navigation on the site, especially on mobile phone. For the occasion, it has been rewritten from scratch.
Of course, I keep the changes to the top bar that I feel are still relevant!
