Friends Meeting
Evangeline nervously made her way to the library. She had just finished her Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson and she had finally found the library without getting lost once. That was a big accomplishment for her. Evangeline opened the door to the library and found an empty table at the back.
She sat down there and waited for her friends @Gabriella Haworth and @Wendy Little. The three of them had scheduled to meet here after school was out, and Evangeline was nervous and excited as time passed by.
Calm down Angie, She thought, If all goes well, it should be a bit better than last night, and last night wasn't so bad. Wasn't it? Evangeline brushed away these thoughts and brought out her parchment, quill and ink, textbooks, and homework planner from her messenger bag and started to work on her assignments.
However, after a few more minutes passed by. Evangeline gave up on homework and put away all of her items back into her book bag. She just couldn't focus. To pass the time though. she got up from the table and started walk around, clearing her mind and browsing the shelves for some new books that might be interesting for her as she waited for her friends to come.

Wendy shifted. The two girls she had met last night had seemed so nice.. why was she hesitant to walk into the library? It was just a library, Wendy. But it wasn’t that.. the witch was afraid that she would mess up what could bloom into a wonderful friendship.
Wendy, you nervous mess, just walk in, she told herself. But her feet wouldn’t obey. Taking a few deep breaths, Wendy finally moved forwards.
Pushing the door, which creaked open weirdly, Wendy glanced inside. She couldn’t see Angie or Gabriella.. yet. Gathering her books, which she had been carrying, and walking in. She scanned the tables, but still found no sign of them.
What if they forgot? Wendy thought, no they wouldn’t. But what if they just didn’t want to see her again? Stop with the bad thoughts, Wendy!
Wendy slowly tip toed to a empty table, well, it looked empty. But it was actually the table which Evangeline had just gotten up from to browse books. Though, of course, Wendy herself didn’t know this. She didn’t know that Angie was in the library at that moment. Wendy felt slightly alone, and sighed.
They were coming right? Wendy shook her head. Calm down! It’s only been a few seconds! But it felt like hours.. why was she so nervous?
It was then she spotted Evangeline. Wendy’s lips curled into a wide smile, and her worry left.

Flustered, Gabriella pushed open the door of the library. Defence Against the Dark Arts had been a disaster, and the professor had kept her back after class to talk to her about her performance. So unfair, Gabriella thought to herself, angrily. It was the guy next to me who was being an idiot, not me. I get good grades in that lesson...
Anyway, that was all over, and now she could concentrate on meeting her friends for a study session. Their exchange the previous night had been... interesting. They were all incredibly awkward first-years, meeting for the first time. The other two were incredibly new - today had been their first day. This time, however, Gabriella was determined for it to work, even if it meant she had to force conversation between the other two. She had been at Hogwarts longer, and she had to be a good friend.
Gabriella could see Evangeline and Wendy already browsing the bookshelves at the other side of the library, and she was glad Angie had managed to find her way - she hadn't known where it was yesterday, and Gabriella had had to tell her. Maybe she had been a good friend before... Even so, it wouldn't be awkward this time. She would make sure of that. "Hi Angie! Hi Wendy!" she cried, before lowering her voice as another student glared at her. "Sorry," she muttered, placing her satchel on the table. "Hi, guys!" she repeated, quieter this time. "How are you?"

Wendy quickly turned around at the sound of a slightly familiar voice, still smiling. See, Wendy? They didn’t forget, she thought to herself. Why did you think they forgot?
“Hello Gabriella!” Wendy exclaimed, though her voice was barely above a whisper, you could hear the excitement and happiness deep inside it, “I’m good! First day was.. well, I would say.” She smiled softly at Gabriella, “How was your day?” Wendy added, directing the question at both Angie and Gabriella.
Wendy set her book down at the table, and started to take some papers out. Of course, where there was school, there was homework. Wendy was fairly sure she’d be able to finish it on time, but some of the topics confused her. Why did they even need to learn Herbology?! It was basically a class for gardening! Gardening! Wendy decided to not ask Gabriella about that class.. since she had said that she hated it.
After setting everything out the way she thought best, Wendy glanced back up at the other two girls, still smiling happily. “School here is a bit different, but it seems -funner?- no that isn’t a word.” Wendy laughed silently at herself, “excuse me. More fun.” She added, trying to make conversation. Wendy wasn’t the best at conversation.. but she liked to cheer people up. Help them feel better. This wasn’t one of those times though. This was just a plain old meeting. Of friends.
Wendy was still surprised that she had been able to make not one friend - but two! - on her first day. And they were really nice, and they both had muggle blood! Like her! It made her feel better about being a half-blood and not knowing much about the wizarding world. Then again, there were a lot of muggle-born or half-blood students here, weren’t there?

Evangeline turned at the sound of @Gabriella Haworth and @Wendy Little's voices. Her lips turned into a smile. She then quickly dropped it. She wasn't used to smiling and it hurt her face muscles.
"Gabriella!" Evangeline half whispered, half shouted, "Wendy! It's so good to see you two!" She walked over to the two friends and set her book bag down, and took out her homework for Potions Class. "How was class for you guys? Mine was great." She said.
So far, so good. Evangeline thought, No awkwardness, good. Keep it going Angie, don't mess it up. Evangeline put a smile on her face and said, "So what classes were your favorites today? By the way, thanks for the directions to the library Gabriella, they sure helped me out a lot."
Her mind wandered to her journey over to her journey to the library, when she had not gotten lost once. Evangeline silently congratulated herself on not losing her way once. "So what do you girls have for homework today? I've got a couple essays to write."
Evangeline realized that she had been asking a lot of questions. She mentally kicked herself Well, not completely gone with awkwardness. but hopefully the awkward level will be down at least 50%... Evangeline thought hopefully. She turned to her friends and waited for their answer.

It was already less awkward, Gabriella noted with a grin. She was glad that her friends had had good days, too - made up for her own unsatisfactory one. "My day was pretty awful," she explained. "Not the worst day ever - but definitely not the best." She sat down at the table and pulled out her Defence Against the Dark Arts homework. "Teacher pulled me back after Defence Against the Dark Arts to tell me that I should be working a lot better if I wanted to pass, when actually it wasn't me being an idiot, it was the guy next to me." She groaned."But it's a lot better now, so that's good, I guess."
"I enjoyed Charms, though," said Gabriella, "that was fun. I always enjoy Charms... learning new spells, you know? I mean, that's kind of what we came to Hogwarts for." On the outside, Gabriella was staying quite calm, but on the inside she was rejoicing that the conversation hadn't become awkward. Yet...
"I've got Defence Against the Dark Arts," she continued, indicating the homework laid out on the desk, "Potions, and some Transfiguration left over from yesterday."
There. She had answered all the questions, and it hadn't been awkward. Of course, she hadn't left any room for anyone else to say anything in between... but that would just lead to people talking over each other, and then saying sorry, you go for most of the conversation which would definitely constitute awkward.

“Well, that’s I guess good.” Wendy smiled softly while saying those words, “I’ve got homework as well. History of Magic, and some others.” So far, Wendy was really liking History of Magic class. It wasn’t because of the teacher - but what was taught. She wanted to know the History of Magic! It was the best place to learn. “Some essays as well.”
Wendy pulled open her chair, and glanced from Angie to Gabriella, “Have you guys gotten around to looking at the library’s books yet? There was a muggle book here somewhere -Alice in Wonderland- and I thought that it was a bit funny that Hogwarts’ Library has a muggle book.”
“Do you have a favorite class?” Wendy paused, “Mine is History of Magic, though I agree with you on Charms, Gabriella.” Wendy nodded to herself, Charms was a good class - you were learning spells!- and she thought that it was fun and exciting, but she also couldn’t wait to hear more about Magic’s history. Wendy scribbled something down on her homework.
Now that she thought about it, Hogwarts’ homework wasn’t that different from muggle homework. There were questions, answers, essays. It was pretty much the same. The content of the homework was what had changed.

Gabriella was unsure what to say next, but she was determined not to let the conversation become awkward. "Uh, no, I haven't really looked at the books," she said. "I heard third years can take Muggle Studies though, so maybe Alice in Wonderland is in here for that..." She could remember reading Alice in Wonderland when she was in year 6. It was quite good, she remembered, although she preferred more contemporary books. That was when her mum had gone through a phase of trying to make her read 'classics'... eventually Gabriella had managed to convince her that classic novels really weren't her taste. But then, what more could you expect from an English teacher? With two English teachers for parents, most dinner time conversations consisted of rambles about Shakespeare or Austen or Bronte or any of the other 'great writers', and the terms 'juxtaposition' and 'iambic pentameter' often came up. The only reason Gabriella had endured this in the past was because the extra knowledge could aid her to become an author herself when she was older, but now she was at a wizarding school, she assumed she would have to take up a wizarding career.
"So, what are your favourite Muggle books?" she asked, looking from Wendy to Angie, and back at Wendy again. Please, don't let this be awkward, she said to herself over and over again in her head.
