New Friends
The Hogwarts Express let out a shrill sound announcing its departure, just as Kayden Lind managed to slip into his seat. He looked out and the bright morning countryside and sighed. He was off to become a wizard. Looking into his bag, he pulled out his wand and began fiddling with it in his fingers.
He thought of the spell his father had told him about. Wingardium leviosa he muttered.
Nothing happened.
He supposed he'd learn about that at school. He put his wand down on the table. Soon he would be off at Hogwarts. He felt a pang of homesickness in his stomach already. Reaching into his coat, he pulled out a photo of him in his parents. Smiling, he put it away. He'd be looking at that a lot during his time learning. The trolley witch scuttled by, and he paid for two chocolate frogs, eating one for himself. It was delicious. No muggle candy could really compare.
Throwing away the wrapper, he looked back out the window. He wondered what kind of people he would meet, what kind of things he would do. His father had told him wondrous stories of his own time at Hogwarts. Kayden could only hope his time would be even half as interesting as his father's.
