Water that was just a little too hot was streaming down Earl’s skin, turning the usual porcelain white into a beautiful rose. The boy moved to the tune of a song only he could hear, eyes closed as steam enveloped his body, hiding him from peeping eyes, graceful fingers massaging soap into his pink hair. He’d been in there for only five minutes, yet the bathroom’s air had filled with the scent of exotic fruit and white chocolate, becoming harder to breathe as heat and humidity mixed together into a potent cocktail.

Despite how disgusting the bathroom was, he'd managed to scrub down one of the shower stalls a few minutes before, for the purposes of taking a shower. He'd gone in the boy's washroom a couple times, but he hadn't liked the looks he'd gotten. So there he was, in the abandoned toilets.

He wasn’t one to sing in the shower, never had been. His father was too quick to anger, to quick too act. So Earl’s showers had always been silent. Perhaps it was a good thing. It gave the boy time. Time to think and to breathe, and to make the inside of his head quiet. His thoughts were always zooming about at a breakneck pace, only allowing him to catch bits and pieces, loud and chaotic and all over the place. But while he was showering, time stood still.

Water was the only thing that mattered. Water falling down his back and melting away the tiny bubbles of soap on his body. Water filling the air, pit pattering on the floor and splashing back up to caress his legs. Water washing away the day’s excitement, allowing a deep calm to set within him.

A deep breath was taken as tiny fingers switched the shower off, picking up a towel nearby and wrapping it around his hips. A pygmy puff was sitting atop his nightclothes, having made them into a sort of bed and pushed its little head inside Earl’s shirt, hiding from the world. As extroverted as its owner was, Mocha was a sassy introvert. She spent most days inside Earl’s pockets or hiding in his hair, complaining loudly whenever he dared pull her out or do as much as pick her up. Ever since he’d gotten her, Earl’s locks had been a tad lighter in order to match her fur, make camouflaging a little easier. He’d tried changing his hair color to see her reaction.

It had been a great deal of displeased squeaking and acting extra nice until he changed it back.
“What if we give you a bath?” Earl called out teasingly, drying himself off with the towel and throwing on pants. A tiny pink ear stuck out from under his shirt, followed by an indignant squeak. “You sure? I’mma have to move you by the way.” Gently removing the puff out of his shirt, Earl slid inside it. Another shirt was wrapped around his hair, to prevent it from getting fuzzy like it would from normal towels. With the pygmy puff on his shoulder, Earl strode out of the washroom. Or he would have. Had his foot not slipped.

There was brief moment in which he had time to panic as he fell backwards. And then his head hit the ground.

He was out.

BAM!

10 minutes before:

Paige was walking in the halls. She was writing in her notebook. She was reading her old entries. The route she was taking took her by the abandoned bathrooms. She was humming a tune. She didn't know where it was from, but she liked it. She heard the distant sound of water going off and then some talking. She paid no attention, she was distracted. But the sickening thump after caught her attention.

She started to run. She threw open the door. She smelled something she did not expect. Cleanliness. Weird. But she didn't have to ponder on this. She saw a boy on the ground out cold. "Oh my god! Are you okay?!" Forgetting in the heat of the moment that he couldn't reply. She ran up to him and got to her knees. She gently shook him. "Hey, hey! Are you okay?" She was growing very concerned. He might have a concussion. She looked up and saw a pygmy. But the pygmy puff would be no help.
She checked if he was breathing. Her mom was a muggle nurse so she was doing the basics her mom made her learn when she was 7.

Merry had been walking down the hall when she heard the noise. It sounded like someone falling, and she had immediately rushed to help. She reached the abandoned bathroom just in time to see another girl next to a boy. He was laying on the floor, out cold. Her usual shy self told her to hurry away, but she just couldn't leave him like this. So, against her will, she hurried over. Panicked, she asked the other girl what had happened. "What happened? Did you see what happened, or did you just find him like this?" Her quite voice shook, and she wondered if the girl could even hear her.
She took in her surroundings, and saw a puddle of water on the floor. "He must have slipped."
Merry vividly remembered the incident a few years ago. At the time, she had thought her father would die. It had been a cold winter day, and he had slipped on a patch of ice. He had fell. She had frozen in place, forgetting how to move. It had been hours until they could get him in a hospital, and by then he was unconscious.
Merry shook her head to clear the memory, bringing her back to the present. Her hand shook as she looked down at the boy, fear controlling her.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.

As a prefect, Frost had to make sure everything was running smoothly, nothing out of order. So far, she had been doing quite well with that, even had given out her first detention. But with that came patroling in places she didn't quite like all that much. Nowadays, she could never pass by the abandoned toilets without peeking in to check, even for a moment.

She had seen a variety in there. Fights, hair dying, mental breakdowns, the works. It seemed unusually busy for a place that was meant to be abandoned. Last time, the Hufflepuff caught a nasty duel between two girls. The abandoned toilets had just been a magnet for disaster and tears. So, though she kind of disliked it, Frost poked her head into the doors.

But this time it seemed good that she checked.

Two girls stood beside a figure on the floor, one seeming more freaked out than the other. Immediately, Frost was beside the boy on the floor. Noticing the puddles of water as the second girl pointed out that he must have slipped. The older Hufflepuff was a prefect, but above all else, she was caring.

If the little creature would allow it, Frost extended her hand out to the boy's pygmy puff and placed it onto her shoulder so that it would not get hurt while she dealt with this. On her knees like one of the girl's already there, Frost carefully examined Earl for any injuries. "Did you guys see what happened?" She asked the two girls. Perhaps this boy had a concussion. Most likely she would have to take him to the Hospital wing soon.
